Iur Cinn Tra, 1pt EW @ 12-1, 1.00 Redcar

Iur Cinn Tra ran well to be third at Ripon in a 5f maiden in July when he had a subsequent novice winner behind him in fourth, and the first two have run well in defeat since. He was then a good second to Mitbaahy over 5f at Thirsk, who has since been placed twice in Listed company. Iur Cinn Tra has disappointed the last twice, however,  when weak in the betting, so has a bit to prove now.

There is stamina on the dam's side of his pedigree and the way he kept on last time at Beverley suggested today's step up in trip to 6f may help, and his mark has been eased a further 2lb. So I'm going to give him another chance, having selected him last time.

Bulls Aye, 1pt EW @ 10-1, 2.35 Redcar

Bulls Aye was a good fourth against against older opposition over 7f two starts at Musselburgh (good) in a race that has worked out well. He disappointed last time back at that track over a mile, but it could be that the good to soft ground wasn't ideal.

He's back on a sounder surface today and stepping up to 10f for the first time, which could suit on pedigree, with his dam being out of a sister to Oaks winner Love Devine. He's drawn the outside stall and wears a first-time visor, which may not be ideal if the headgear lights him up, but a chance is taken at the odds.

Roseabad, 1pt EW @ 8-1, 3.27 Goodwood

Roseabad did the thread a favour when she won at Carlisle last month, having previously suggested that she could be well suited by staying trips. Her latest start came in a valuable class 2 handicap at Haydock, and although there were only six runners, it didn't look easy against male opposition which included the Melrose winner Valley Forge. As it turned out, it probably wasn't much of a test at the trip given the slow time and the fact they were in a heap at the finish, but she shaped as though she was still in form, beaten just over two lengths in fifth.

Roseabad is back in calmer waters today against her own sex, and as she remains unexposed as a stayer, she's selected again.

Bastogne, 1 pt win @ 11-1, 1.35 Newmarket

Bastogne is of interest on this step up to a mile. He ran well in a 7f nursery at the Ebor meeting when enduring a wide enough trip from a wide draw but kept on well to finish fourth. The form has worked out well with the winner Harrow going on to win a valuable sales race at the St Leger meeting, and the pair who dead-heated for second since running well in Pattern company.

Bastogne was just over two lengths behind today's rival Sed Maarib over 7f at Doncaster last time out and has work to do to reverse the form, but he has a 3lb pull, and while that rival too may also benefit from this step up in trip, a chance is taken at the prices.

Big Island, 1pt EW @ 14-1, 3.25 Limerick (5 PLACES)

Big IsLand seemed to win with more in hand than the half-length winning margin suggested when winning at Tipperary in early August, when seemingly idling in front but finding plenty well inside the final furlong just as it looked as though he might be vulnerable to a closer.  He failed to back that effort up when turned out relatively quickly under a 6lb penalty six days later in a big field handicap at Leopardstown.

Big Island returns from a six week break today off a 4lb higher mark than for his win in what looks a very competitive race, but he's not badly drawn in six and he may still have more to come being relatively lightly raced.

Miss Roulette, 1pt EW @ 20-1, 5.25 Wolverhampton

Miss Roulette was stepped up markedly in trip to 12.5f at Musselburgh two starts back and she seemed to stay the trip well, setting what looked an honest pace and keeping on well when joined a furlong out before dropping to third in the closing stages, but still finishing clear of the fourth.  She could only finish fourth on her latest start over 11.5f at Windsor but perhaps the shorter trip and quicker ground wasn't ideal.

Miss Roulette has since been sold out of Mark Johnston's yard and is upped to 14f today by her new yard, and she is of interest being unexposed as a stayer.

Onaraggatip, 1 pt EW @ 11-1, 7.30 Wolverhampton

Onaraggatip was making his AW debut at Lingfield over 7f twelve days ago in first-time blinkers when probably doing well to finish third, having missed the break, then had a wide enough trip to make up ground to go prominent, before getting racing from soon way out. The way he kept on to press for second after being outpaced in the straight suggested a step up in trip may suit, but he's kept to 7f this evening on this switch to Tapeta and a first-time visor.  A chance is taken though at the odds with him being unexposed on synthetics and in the hope he's sharper from the gate this time.

Fine Distraction, 1pt EW @ 16-1, 4.45 Dundalk (4 PLACES)

Fine Distraction ran well to be fourth of eighteen at Cork (6f, soft) three starts back, but he hasn't had much luck with the draw in two starts since, being drawn high at the Curragh (6f, soft) in a race dominated by those drawn low, but still doing best of those drawn in double figures even though finishing only seventh, and last time drawn wide at Fairyhouse (6f, g-f) when failing to land a blow and finishing behind a couple of today's rivals.

He returns to the AW today and drops back to 5f, and although he was beaten seven lengths into second by The Highway Rat over todays C&D in May, that colt has since won again here off a 20lb higher mark, yet Fine Distarction returns to this track rated 7lb lower.

I'm going to take a couple against the field in the Cambridgeshire, though it won't be good news for me if those drawn high are at an advantage!

Irish Admiral, 1pt EW @ 16-1, 3.40 Newmarket (7 PLACES)

Irish Admiral impressed on his latest start when winning at Redcar, when always on what looked a decent pace and finding plenty to run out an authoritative winner. He's gone up 4lb for that win and he doesn't have Adam Farragher's 5lb claim this time, which leaves him looking vulnerable on his York form from last month when finishing behind Magical Morning, Astro King and Indeed, but he's evidently well suited by quick ground, and that latest evidence suggests this extra furlong could suit well.

Zozimus, 1pt EW @ 40-1, 3.40 Newmarket (7 PLACES)

Zozimus hasn't offered much in two starts since returning from over four months off, but he might have needed the runs, and he's of interest on his run off a 3lb higher mark at Leopardstown in April (10f, good), when finishing fourth in a race won by Sir Lamorak, who was beaten a neck on his next start at Royal Ascot in the King George V Handicap. The second horse was Bear Story, who has run well in defeat since on turf and was a well backed winner of a Group 3 at Dundalk last night. I thought the effort of Zozimus probably wanted marking up given the other principals came from off the pace, and he'd been keen enough. It could be that a well run race at this 9f trip could suit on that evidence.

Zozimus obviously has to get back to something like that April form to stand any chance in this, and quick ground is a query for him, but interesting that Joseph O'Brien is running him here, with Wayne Lordan booked.

A few firms were going 7 places, so I am going to claim the SP / BOG of 100-1. 19.5 for the place at Betfair SP.

Unfortunately the first pick disappointed. He got a nice tow into the race, but didn't pick up too well. They've changed the going to good to soft, so the ground might have been an excuse.

* I should have mentioned that Finally Mine has to prove her stamina for 12f, but she has been keeping on in some of her races, and her pedigree is encouraging for longer trips as she's a half-sister to 14f Group 3 winner and her dam was a two mile winner at the Galway Festival.

Finally Mine traded odds-on in the run having dictated, but got outpaced in the closing stages. The time was comparatively slow compared to the earlier races on the round course, so maybe the fractions had been steady.

She can run in weaker races and may benefit from a step up in trip, so may give her a second look next time.
