Hi Jon....only one for me today, the 5.50 Ripon ....hoping for a bigger price later on Blind Beggar, as I think it`s greater experience will help it on this undulating course...Cant see it being out of the PLAICE`s at least.

The 9/2 & 4/1 on Persaria (16:35 Lingfield) is now long gone (it was always going to happen!) but it's been a while since one of these races didn't just have the dead-8 runners, making it difficult to take an early price EW without worrying overly about a Non-Runner impacting the place terms.

I'm a bit annoyed that Swiss Flamingo hit 66's (in places) not long after I took the 50's - but obviously that's a pretty speculative (place focussed) EW bet - partly because I'm not crazy about Perfect Dream and partly because I hope the draw might play a small part in the race for the places.

Waiting for non-runners (in other races) means I have missed the 4/1 & 9/2 for Persaria for EW doubles purposes, so with enough eggs in that basket already - I think I'll give the EW doubles a swerve (at least in terms of thread bets). GL.

Agree - maybe Tippy Toes (16:55 Windsor) is the best race on a bad day, I also like the Balding horse there at 19:30 (Zuraig) - but I don't think I will play either of them. GL.

Morning chaps.  I used to bet quite a bit on the Irish 37 but after going through my bets I found that the vast majority of the dreaded fourth plaiced horses were happening over there and I think it must be down to the bigger field sizes.  Having said all of that I did cast an eye towards Tumultuous 1.30 Roscommon with only 9 runners.  Barely dusty though.

The problem I have with the Irish racing (both flat and NH - although I very rarely play the NH anyway) is the dominance of a handful of trainers. That should be good - i.e. for EW thievery you are looking for non-competitive races - and it does translate well, in as much as the betting shape of nearly every stakes race run in Ireland could be described as at least "mildly dusty".

However my reality is similar to yours Jon, in that (if I still played it) I would have far too many unplaced selections (even in the relatively filthy Irish races). 

Due to the lack of utter filthy races - my preferred use of e-way betting is EW doubles where one of the selections (Horse A) is a banker and runs (usually) in the sole utterly filthy race that day. With only that one totally filthy race available - I couple this with a handful of "dusty EW" races (Race B,C,D,E, etc) for the EW doubles. So in that example 5 selections would only result in 4 x EW doubles consisting AB, AC, AD & AE. Played correctly the place only element will be profitable - any win money running-on is a bonus and/or an opportunity to at least trade/recover the win stakes.

To cut a long story short - it involves putting a lot of eggs in one basket and I'm very comfortable doing that if the race is right for it - but my banker ("Horse A") has not been from an Irish race for many years and probably never ever will be!

In essence the betting shape of most stakes races over there makes it appear like it should be an absolute paradise for filthy EW bettors, in reality it just isn't  - that's just my opinion - but it's based on experience and data too. GL.

I haven't played over there today 37 (apart from the handicaps) - but I'd be a place layer of the shorties any day of the week in preference to betting each-way in most of their stakes races. There is a nice EW betting shape in pretty much every race but plenty of them finish out of the money.

GL with the 17:40 (it looks a play to me too) - but it's a brave man that does an EW two-bet imo

Yeah - they don't fook about over there with the market moves - you get the odd subtle one - but generally if they come for one they come for it properly - likewise if they don't like one - it just keeps getting bigger and bigger.
