I really, really don't get it if you cancel events call me a thicko but that only works if those who would have attended self isolate at home,if the person who doesn't no he,s carrying it instead of risking infecting someone in his space, area is going to infect someone at whatever their doing instead of visiting chelt, street, village hall, pub, work, supertmarket, local partk, tube, train, plane and a million other etc, etc,
its complete not thought through madness

If events are cancelled people's perception of the risk is likely to change and they may well'self-isolate'. The situation in the affected areas of Italy gives an idea of how people will react ie deserted streets, closed shops etc.

Don't expect it to be called off? Any country more than half full of the fcukwits who voted for Brexit are capable of anything.

12 new cases reported now, odds here nearer 11/8 now.
Total overreaction in full swing, and resigning myself to the inevitable knee jerk cancellation now Sad

Surely the bookies will pay any amount to have it kept on behind closed doors, if necessary?

Behind closed doors is absolute NR..Wont happen
We have a government who are of a Trumpian double act. They really couldn't GAF about the health of the public and spreading disease at this stage of the parliament cycle
In addition they feel they can get away with anything. As ultimately this is BJs decision. Be utterly amazed if he calls it off. Probably doesn't even know its going
ahead next week. Hell have to be told.. Carry on spreading the bug and hoist a flag over Parliament while we're at it.

The Government has outlined a new "battle plan" to respond to the spread of coronavirus after three new cases were identified in the UK, including a staff member at a school.

Every department will have a ministerial lead on the virus while a cross-Whitehall "war room" is being set up to roll out an enhanced public information campaign, the Department of Health and Social Care announced.

Health Secretary Matt Hancock said he is still hopeful of containing Covid-19 as he detailed the new approach to pandemic preparation on Sunday.

"The plan is very clear," he told Sky News' Sophy Ridge On Sunday programme.

"Firstly, (it is) to contain this virus. That's the stage we're in now, we hope that we can succeed in doing that."

Mr Hancock said the long-term strategy for ensuring Covid-19 was contained was attempting to delay its "peak" until the summer, as the virus will not spread so easily in warmer weather.

12 new cases announced this very day, bringing it up to 35 cases in the UK. One of the cases not linked to any traceable sources.

..around 50% hike in one day then?

the only reason Cheltenham is odds against is because of the 'behind closed doors' aspect.

anyone planning on attending the festival should cancel any plans , not a cat in hells chance of it going ahead as per normal
