If its not staged next week it wont be happening , Hight street could contribute to cost Better than no festival for them Run races half hourly , even drop a few of the races ![]() |

wouldn't think closed doors even an option , all the travel from uk and across water , all the trainers , jocks ,lads et
would there even be availability of medics , when they are talking about retired doctors to combat virus than you got the randoms who may try turn up anyway who knows |
|
By:
personally I think behind closed doors is a no go , due to insurance , amount lost in takings etc.
they'll certainly be trying to reschedule. i'm a backer of festival off and I personally think its a shoe in ,sorry guys |

Deptford i'm not saying its the right decision , I agree technically makes no sense in the big scheme of things but the way this is being played out in the media - they'll have absolutely no other option but to call this off.
|
|
By:
"they'll certainly be trying to reschedule."
Not a hope , Next week or Never |
|
By:
cant see how they would call of chelt and not other sports myself tho chelt 4 times bigger for ten times longer
medics a possible issue aswell |
|
By:
Can we assume that the airports and public transport argument is something we all agree with it'll save a lot of typing time. No-one is arguing on a basis of what should happen logically, if A is cancelled then so should B, if that were the case, backing OFF would be long odds against, hysteria is rampant, look at the news channels, IT's the Dawn of the Dead out there and the govt are very capable of panicking to appease the masses.

By:
how can you cancel chelters and then have how many thousands at Anfield for the ath Madrid game

People need to carry on with their lives as normal and not worry about the coronavirus outbreak, Wales' health minister has said.
Vaughan Gething said there was no need to shut schools or panic-buy but to take steps if symptoms develop. |
|
By:
At the moment we should carry on as normal but if the spread worsens then that advice will probably change. We all want the least disruption to our lives but at the same time don't want it to cause more deaths or illness than we can reasonably avoid.

they won't have thousands at football matches they'll play behind closed doors if they want to complete the season, like other countries the uk will put limits on gatherings & events

Think the problem is that the transmission rate of corona is higher as far as they know at the moment. Sure I heard on R4 that for everyone who gets flu another 1.5 will catch it too but for every one with Corona it's 3 to 4.

The "Invisable Man" has resurfaced. The prime minister will be chairing another Cobra meeting on coronavirus on Monday. “We will be setting out the various measures in the way public should be responding, and public bodies should be responding.”
He wouldn’t be drawn on the details of what these measures might look like. “I don’t want to go now into the kind of things that might be necessary,” he said. “There’ll be questions we might need to consider about very big public events.”. |

The Louvre is closed. Staff voted unanimously to close
![]() Some bint called Mona looking right unhappy. |

It's indoor events of more than 5000 in France that are banned. Louvre closed by staff refusing to work.

Seen conflicting reports of indoors, outdoors or both. Put it this way, today's Paris half marathon was called off last night with all the competitors already in Paris.

That's what I mean. Strategy seems to just to make it up as they go along.
A school near me sent all their pupils home because about 30 kids and some staff had been skiing in Italy last week. Turned out they'd been nowhere near the effected area. |

It has been pointed out, earlier on the thread - 'a 50% increase today'
We could get the same tomorrow, and the day after - or it could be even less, and today was a spike - who knows. If we accept those figures for a projection, though ... Tomorrow's Monday Announcement would be ... 52 Total cases Tues = 78 Wed = 117 Thur = 175 Fri = 262 Sat = 393 Sun = 590 Mon (before Cheltenham) = 885 Tues (Cheltenham) = 1327 Wed (Cheltenham) = 1990 Thur (Cheltenham) = 2985 Fri (Cheltenham) = 4478 Out of a Population of 60 million - plus the few million illegals who are here - but not accounted for. That 4478 - is roughly 1 in every 14,000 people. BUT ... Such a 50% daily increase has not been happening, regularly, in other countries Today - France = 100 - Germany 111 ... even Italy is only up to 1128 Let's see what the next 2 or 3 days bring |
|

Italy up to 1700 big increase in a day.

The nature of these viruses is the increase goes up logarithmically. Hence a smaller increase to start, big jumps, then tails off to next to nothing. Hence why there's more cases reported outside China now than inside China.
Here's the breakdown for Italy, with most dates since Feb 21 when it really spread, above 50% Jan 31: 2 (n.a.) Feb 5: 2 (±0%) Feb 6: 3 (+50%) Feb 21: 20 (+567%) Feb 22: 79 (+295%) Feb 23: 152 (+92%) Feb 24: 229 (+51%) Feb 25: 322 (+41%) Feb 26: 400 (+24%) Feb 27: 650 (+63%) Feb 28: 888 (+37%) Feb 29: 1,128 (+27%) Mar 1: 1,694 (+50%) |
