Neileta 1pt EW @ 100-1 The market has this pretty much as a two horse race between Beechwood Jude who arrives here on the back of a Flat win over two miles at Musselburgh and now rated 75 in that sphere, and Soft Summer Rain who seemingly posted an eyecatching effort on her hurdling debut at Chepstow. The other one who is prominent in the betting is Juals Spirit, rated only 38 on the Flat, and a well held 4th on her hurdling debut at Fakenham, albeit behind a couple who may turn out to be relatively decent sorts in this sphere. I have three qualifiers, of which Tabou Beach Boy looks by far the most likely of the trio to place, but I'm going to chance my two 'rags' EW even though they are very much on the speculative side, particularly as the testing ground may not be ideal for either, and I expect I'll be on -13 by 2 o'clock  .If Neileta was coming here on the back of his early season Flat form which culminated in a win over 10f at Ayr in early July, he'd probably be a good bit shorter in the betting, but for whatever reason the wheels have come off since. He seems to have plenty of size about him, and although well held on his juvenile hurdle debut at Wetherby, the horse he finished around 16 lengths behind, George Ridsdale, came out and won the juvenile hurdle yesterday at Musselburgh to give the form a boost. Geyser is totally left-field. He seemed to run well in a 0-65 at Redcar over 14f back in May (when he had Tabou Beach Boy behind), and although that just a maiden handicap, it did produce a couple of subsequent winners (including Robeam who won impressively on his hurdling debut). Geyser ultimately finished well held on his hurdling debut at Wetherby on his return from a two month break, but was still in contention for a place two out when a mistake put him on the backfoot and he weakened out of it. Mixed messages from that form, the winner went on to be Listed placed, while the runner-up Burnage Boy disappointed at Musselburgh yesterday. |

Tabou Beach boy (started off at Mick's) looks like a very modest plodder that does what he wants, interestingly was stuffed by another of Brian Ellison's lowly flat rated recruits round here on it's hurdles debut (Robeam).
It just looks to me that all the right ones are there where they should be. Micks is actually very nicely bred for this out of Champs Elysees with dams sire New Approach. Slow starts at Southwell last flat run and then on hdls debut but very lightly raced and has to be of interest in such a poor looking heat but seriously couldn't touch it at the price! KD's would have the sort of flat rating that should always be interesting in this sort of race round a track like this and it has won races with enough speed for 11f and stamina for 2 miles.He can definitely get these ready from the flat so is a very dangerous looking sort. GL George miracles can happen in these races.  |

striding, are you surprised Ellison's filly is relatively short in the betting? Seems pretty solid against the front two.
The Fakenham run was the second after a wind-op, so maybe that is where the apparent improvement has come from, and on RPRs at least, leaves with just a few lb to find with TBB and SSR. |

Though nothing too much surprises me about Brian, I am surprised his runner here is so short tbh. Even for him this one looks extremely modest and we saw plenty on the flat from 5f upwards to 12f.

Kirby's looks like the possible one they could have wrong but he isn't a trainer that screams out with a newcomer in such a contest.
Dam foaled Always Resolute that won over flat and hurdles and dams sire influence over sires has yielded NH winners. |

At Kirby's is coming here fit and in form, will stay and handle the ground, plus if he gets into a rhythm on the front end like he did at Catterick, could go well for a long way. Plus the second from that Catterick race came out and won over hurdles.
Kirby's other one is by Fast Company (usually a plus on soft) and has a 10lb claimer on, and ran OK on soft the other day. |

Neilata certainly looks like he has the size to go jumping, and if they can get him back, can probably win under this code on better ground, though being realistic probably one for handicaps, particularly as Uncle Mick's is being smashed into.

Langholm, 1pt win @ 15/2, 12.40 Warwick.
I have two qualifiers here, one is Allmankind, who looks the most likeliest winner given his official Flat rating of 86, and he's gone to a stable that can improve them and have them ready to roll off a break. The negatives are that his final run for Michael Bell was a shocker (reported to have run too free), and having been highly tried in Chester's Dee Stakes this season the Flat career appears to have been shelved for now; they've resorted to wind surgery, and he returns with the hood back on and wearing a first time tongue-strap despite having had the wind-op. Of the others, perhaps the most interesting is Galahad Quest who comes from a respected stable in this division, looks bred for the job and it will be interesting to see how he goes in the betting. The selection at the prices is Langholm, who is up against it on Flat ratings with both Allmankind and Motashakel, but who showed a good attitude when winning twice from the front over 10f round Beverley in the summer on g/s & g/f, and could the type to take well to hurdling. He has joined Jonjo O'Neill from Declan Carroll, and it will be interesting to see if the front running tactics are persevered with. If the ground is demanding, I think there would have to be a query about his stamina. |

Allmankind looks a useful recruit provided he doesn't pull his chance away when he steps up in class.
Langholm was poor, didn't jump well at times, and looked on the small side compared to his rivals. If I have any qualifiers running in handicaps then they are eligible for selection, but failing that, the next juvenile hurdle isn't until Fairyhouse on Tuesday, for which there are currently 31 entries. Then there is one at Bangor on Wednesday (13 entries), followed by one at Ludlow on Thursday. [b]Running P/L: +168[/b] |

Catch The Cuban, 1pt win @ 11-2, 3.50 Kempton
A rare runner on the Flat this year for his high profile jumps stable, and although rated only in the 50s, he posted a fair effort when finishing second of fourteen over 10f at Salisbury in early May, before seemingly disappointing at Bath, but that came in a race where he missed the break before being rushed up to dispute what appeared an overly strong pace, and not surprisingly he had little left for the straight. His next run at Windsor was poor, after which he underwent wind surgery prior to going juvenile hurdling. His two runs in this sphere have been respectable, particularly the latest one when finishing runner-up at Chepstow (on soft) as the form has worked out reasonably well, with the winner Nordano going on to be Listed placed at Wetherby, and the fourth Sir Psycho winning easily at Wincanton. Catch The Cuban goes handicapping off a rating of 112, and while that is high relative to his Flat rating, it doesn't look harsh given Nordano and Sir Psycho have been rated 123 and 117 respectively. He appears verstaile ground wise, receives the 16lb wfa allowance from his rivals, and his jockey Harry Kimber is one of three in this conditionals' race able to claim an 8lb alowance. |

Catch The Cuban was arguably a lucky winner, as he'd just been headed by the heavily-backed Mulholland stable-switcher when that horse fell at the last.
It seemed they hadn't gone very quick and I'd say CTC still had run left him in, particularly as he was getting all the allowances, so not sure he was done with, but we'll never know now. Running P/L: +173.5 |
