perhapps you should lean about how bets are settled instead of reading pm messages from cork langer take it none of you have paddy accounts , some times setters seem to change full stops and comas |

No good analysing the result, it can’t be altered. Just need 3 winning Lay bets to get back to square one - so no pressure. ![]() |

@Trident
Best horse running ? When there was a listed race at Salisbury and a Group 2 in Deauville, which had the French Derby Winner in it, and also the Lingfield Derby Trial in it. I highly doubt an 80 rated handicapper who just won a 0-85, is even in the best 20 horses running today. The best horse running at Beverley he may be, but nowhere near the best horse running today. |

Well today was certainly a tale of two halves, my first post with a back bet was OK, but it went downhill in my lay post. I wish i had stayed at Saab for lunch. The only consolation is i didn't post a lay of Chain Of Daises, that would have been embarrassing (7L winner).
I watched the replay of my lay earlier, i'm glad i didn't see it live, i would have quite been confident just before the furlong marker, out the back and pushed along (must have traded high IR) but credit to the horse, he certainly finished off well. I'm not covering myself in glory with this new lay thread (I started the last one with 14/14) hopefully i can regain the lost ground in the next few days. |

Correct willie (and thanks) but it's more of a challenge and it would be pointless posting lays of much higher odds. A bad start to the thread, and if i was getting marked for it, no doubt the comment would be ....... must try harder ![]() |

In 1970, a trainer named Balding ran a 2 year old in a small maiden race at a mid-week Salisbury meeting. The favourite in the race had raced before and was well odds on, but was soundly beaten by him and turned out to be one of the all time greats of the turf in the following 2 years.
There was a very similar scenario in the 2.10 race today (precluding the latter part) ![]() |
|
By:
For all the 2.10 winner was impressive, I doubt if this was some second coming, it would have gone off 33/1. Watching the race I thought Tin Hat went too fast (5f pace) and Moore was keen to keep tabs and used up his horse from 2f to 100 yards out. This enabled the Balding horse to come through and win. I think the 3rd is very poorly treated off 92, and the second 86 looks harsh. Winner is probably a nice enough horse, but I think it could be foolhardy to get carried away with the form. The second has come 2nd four times in a row now, and the 3rd is starting to look a shade regressive having run well earlier in the season. Winner prob ran somewhere close to 80-85 on debut, but what it goes on to achieve I don't know. I doubt however we have seen a group 1 horse in the making, however nice to know you are old enough to remember 1970 Andrew :P

Domino,
I wasn't remotely comparing him to Mill Reef in terms of ability, simply some of the coincidences. I doubt the 2nd will ever be as good as Fireside Chat Having said that, looking at the replay, he came from way off the pace with a good turn of foot and will certainly win again in a little higher grade. Yes could say i'm old enough to remember 1970, but i prefer to think i'm young enough not to forget it yet ![]() |

Welcome back AIS, although you haven't hit the ground running this time around, you should give yourself a pat on the back for enticing Mini Me to post again and for converting domino and burkey to the world of laying, though if the posts from shafter are to be believed, it seems burkey has gotten off to a worse start than you, so putting a positive spin on it you are only a small amount down and you have increased the laying/playing threads in triplicate, sense the rollercoaster is only going to gather more speed from hereon in, best of luck

Good morning Lampus et all,
Cork, Thank you. Agreed, my current form of 1/3 is not good at all, i either stayed too long in Indonesia, or not long enough . I can't keep track of Burkeys selections, he has more threads than the Bayeux tapestry. As for Domino, his new thread is a completely different format, back and lay at any odds, and indiscriminate staking, as opposed to mine with max 5/2 odds, lay only and a level stake. He has information that i'm not privy to, and to be honest i suspect he will make a larger profit than my previous lay thread. I hope this doesn't read like sour grapes on my part, it's not intended to, and i sincerely hope he does well. Mind you i would be pissed if he backed one i put up as a lay and it won ![]() Good luck. |
