How hot does it get there usually in summer Andrew?
|
|
By:
It varies striding, but quite often we have temperatures in the low 30's where i am (between Stockholm and Göteborg in the south). May is usually a good month, today it's a sunny 24c, but we had warmer a couple of weeks ago. I would say the average summer month is probably around 25-26c give or take. I think the highest it's been is 37c.
On the reverse side, i've experienced -27c in the winter, although that's not normal by any means. I think the record in the North is somewhere around -50c. |

I did notice an oddity, although it's nothing to do with the race itself, but ownership of Curley Bill has changed between trainer and current owner 5 times this year !
the dates show a 2 week period, probably due to paperwork but may also have been some haggling over the price ![]() |

Race summary
Clongowes led from Apparition, with See The Lion and Kerosin close up. Curley Bill (the lay) was settled in mid-field. The order was maintained until coming off the final bend when Sea The Lion was driven to challenge on the outside. Clongowes was staying on well in the lead, Wooster was trapped on the rail and hampered slightly, Sea The lord still challenging, with Le Vagabond and Mawaany running on strongly. Curley Bill was being driven on the outside, but not making much progress. In the final 100 yards, Sea The Lord went on, from Clongowes and Sir Vagabond who was full of running. At the line Sea The Lord won by 0.5L from Sea The Lord with Clongowes a neck away in 2rd. Curley Bill finished in 8th Curley Bill was backed from 9/4 to 13/8 during the morning/lunchtime, but drifted back to 15/8 - 2/1 around race time, eventually ending as the 9/4 fav. The winner was backed from 7/1 to 6/1 at race time. Daily profit £50 Running total profit (2/2) £100 Another lay next Saturday. I may post a daily nap lay on the other thread for tomorrow. Summary of the lay with finishing position and industry SP as follows : Saturday 12th - Dancing Star @ 2.79 (inc. reduction factor for NR) - unplaced @ 15/8f Sunday 13th - Curley Bill @ 2.94 - unplaced @ 9/4f |

anybody trying to apply logic to horse racing are deluded, its called gambling, fobt machines have a built in bias of 40%in favour of th
e bookies, they cant lose neither can the government ie, tax, odds on laying may or may not work but the bias is in favour below .95 |

I love football (if supporting a team like Bristol City comes under 'football') but I don't bet on it regularly. Isn't there an old adage 'don't bet on anything that involves a ball' ? What do I know anyway, and Mart seems to do Ok with correct scores
![]() I occasionally lay the HT/FT result when a stronger team is at home in the premier league, it's surprising how often the away team isn't losing at HT, although i haven't found the holy grail yet. I will have a fun bet this afternoon, but no idea what. I like MU, have done since Besty, and used to be a big fan of Jose Maurinho, but i think he's lost some of his lustre in recent years. MU have to be favourites, but only just. I thought Conte showed a good sense of humour at the press conference yesterday responding to a jounalists question "what do you say to those that think this will be your last match as Chelsea manager" ? ............. he replied, "i can say for sure, this will be my last match of the season". |
|
By:
Andrew, you're a Bristol City fan ? My brother in law plays for them ! Or he does at present but he is expecting to move on in the summer! I take an interest in their results because of that but I am a Gooner through and through. I do hope your manager gives up on purchasing Swedish players though, £4.5m wasted in two years and barely 10 appearances between them ! I was at the Manchester United game in the Lansdown (I think that's how it's spelt) Bar and it was an amazing night. Did you go to it ?
I'm getting ready to leave for Wembley as guests of Betfair today, as a Gooner, it will be a rare occasion I cheer on UTD, hate Chelski! |

Domino,
Yes, an ardent fan of BCFC since i was knee high to a grasshopper, I guess i inherited them from my dad, also a supporter, who was born in Bristol. After being born and living on a RAF camp in Cornwall for over 11 years, we moved up to Bedminster, then Filton, so i was a regular in those days. I wasn't at the MU or MC games, i sometimes watch them in London area away games, and was at Wembley for the premiership play off several years ago. The new stands are impressive, and early in the season i really thought we may have a shout of a play off place, the football was superb, but we faded badly this year. My mum and an aunty were Arsenal supporters (the latter lived in Islington) and you may be surprised to know there are quite a few of them that frequent the local sportsbar where i live. Maybe they are also agents for Swedish players Have a good day at the FA cup. |
