onlooker it was a horse that was promising at 2 and had 1 run at 3 dropped in class

it was hradly a massive leap of faith was it? the thing that amazed me was that no oone appeared to know or act on it.

how the hell is it dart chucking with his record at the track

that's 6 seconds i've had in 8 runs sometimes it just doesn't go for you

stridingedge.

It won first time out, as a 2-y-o on the ALL-WEATHER, in MARCH, of all months

Then ...

5th of 8
4th of 5
Then ...
LAST  3 times - the latest being ...

LAST of 12.

That's 4 runs at 3 -  Not  - "1 run at 3".

Keep the faith - Plenty others cannot commit

I should have been clearer *1 turf run at 3

I suppose like Ravenhoe last year at Beverley (over the same 7 1/2f as Chupalla yesterday) that hadn't placed for 12 runs and not won since a brace of 5f events at 2 and not gone beyond 6f, they had no idea that the horse would have a great chance dropped in grade and upped in trip. won at industry 11/1.

The difference yesterday was the timeline gaps in the CV hinting at obvious issues, it was pretty hard to have confidence that the horse was going to be in good shape despite the other factors making it a huge danger IF all was well with the horse especially at a track where countless horses have come back to form with different conditions, nearly always going up to new trips.

I've said plenty of times I just don't think the market has much of a handle on a lot of the yard's runners and this season with big priced unraced novice winners and now yesterday's big priced Beverley winner I'm even more inclined to believe this.

Knowing a yard has an MO is different to making an automatic profit on it's runners but the MO is pretty damn obvious with the bulk of it's runners. The dart chucking seems to be labelled more because many punters can't get their heads round horses drastic performance changes when seeing new conditions. If you have the mindset that horses unplaced btn 5-10l or even further can't come into their own over more optimum conditions then you are going to have a massive problem with this yard.

I know statistically a lot of the MO's with the class/distance/number of runs/official rating progression/time of year/prize money are too strong to reasonably not be put down to a repeated MO by the yard year in year out. Again just because you know what they like to do it doesn't mean you still don't have to make judgements like you always have to with any trainer. This season has been very frustrating so far, the recent run is just something that happens just being on the wrong side of results too often but I need to firmly put any market paranoia to bed for starters. A lot of the unexposed runners will run big races at prices.

It should be pretty hard to have that bad a time following a few simple rules with this yard (though I'm managing to accomplish this so far)  but consistency of approach is something I need to sort out and becoming timid through a lack of confidence can lead to carnage when 3 or 4 winners are missed in a day.

Finally I've got to stop worrying about the shorter priced runners slipping through, usually no one is bothered by horses you haven't done but the nature of this  thread is that some days 3 or more short priced winners can go in and I'll be on none of them, that's just the way it is. Though in certain situations his shorter ones have still been profitable over time it's mostly not the case for me so that's just how it is.

Anyway I'm out for the day so gl to everyone in their punting.

Shows just how hard it is and the time involved to thoroughly analyse just one trainer .... never mind all of them Crazy

A 20-1 forecast didn't look that special on debut a 50-1 shot might have tempted some in Confused

Late getting down to form study today as I'm nursing a bit of a hangover from birthday celebrations, plus I had to go to work for a few hours this morning Sad Anyway, had a bit on Seyaady 2.15 Bev. Been through the Sandown card, looked at Oriental Fox, but I've passed on that one.

Had some on Peach Melba @ 7-2. See they've backed it, possibly because Egan (who I'm not keen on normally) is on a hat-trick. I'm with se and on Comedy School.

Very frustrating week when things need to be picking up this time of the year, plenty of seconds but little to smile about.

Comedy School today has been flagged up twice and is a note booked horse from earlier in the season over this trip. Hasn't always settled and Ayr at the weekends tempers enthusiasm a bit with 3 winners from 95 runners here in this group from 15.1 expected, from a sample this size that is dreadful.

Interesting joe not aboard but has an outside mount in the race.

Would really need to be staking 3pts on it and I'm not sure it's worth it so I'll pass.

^ Correct me if I am mistaken - although I do not think that I am - but your post at the bottom of the above table reads as if COMEDY SCHOOL is set to run at Ayr today -

- when in fact, it was unplaced at Nottingham last night.

Town Charter becoming frustrating, probably a galloping 7f is the trip as settled much better on the front than may have been the case but didn't appear to get home off quite an easy lead.

Was looking forward to Bicolour this week (wednesday), SDS been given the ride back over the same Bath CD, to my untrained eye this one looks potentially a fare bit better than a class 6 horse for sure. Still showing inexperience and had trouble in running last week.

Valley Of Rocks probably no price to follow up but has plenty more to offer too on thursday.

Ground could become an issue so will have to see the state of affairs nearer the time.

Today's runner Noble Manners has no positives regarding a still mdn runner in a nursery, the record is far better with a change to a new distance for this sort.

PJ though has been put on a lot of 2yo winners and perhaps being the only runner of the day too is a sign of intent (though nothing to back this up with the results).

Be interesting who gets on these nurseries this year SDS and PJ been hitting good strike rates with the yard's 2yo's.

Have to play some of these today...

Morning Suit showed a real tenacity in the last run, under pressure for much of the race on the front end at Salisbury over a mile but keeping on in dogged fashion when you could have reasonably expected him to drop out. The worry is that the ground was a bit of an issue there so if there is more GS then G in the actual going today against what is currently advised it could be a bit of a worry. The attitude was great there, a drop in grade today but not too much difference on ratings and a furlong further which should definitely not be an inconvenience. He has won from the front and held up so tactically versatile too.If he bombs today I'd give another chance on quicker ground.

The profile is very good for a race of this grade at this time of the year especially and the price looks pretty good to me today.

Addicted To You one of the recent runners up on the thread can hopefully go one better today. Beat all bar the progressive winning favourite last time comfortably lto and steps up to 2 miles today, the yard is very good with 3yo's taking on their elders stepped up to 2 miles for the first time and this one for me has done nothing wrong so far with limited turf experience.

Bicolour This one caught my eye last run over the same CD, still a bit of a baby and after travelling well ran around a bit and found traffic late and then just coasted home. Visually I was thinking this one could come on massively for that run and should be leaving this grade well behind, can hopefully learn from that last run and for me should be hard to beat. Barring Ellison's having been completely masked, I can't see too much to be scared of in this field.

3:45 Yarmouth Morning Suit , current odds 11.5 (£10)
4:30 Catterick Addicted To You, current odds 2.88 (£30)

Seems hard at the moment doesn't it? Just can't seem to get anything going for any length of time. Remember though se we're only roughly half way through the flat season and although you're having a bad run your stakes seem conservative so hopefully your losses are well within your means and you'll turn things round Happy

It's not the end of the world Mccoy but it's not been too much fun so far Wink

Cardsharp keeping on well at Ascot, well worth a pop at another g2 up in trip, has held form very well.

Poets Society, like a lot of the credentials of this one and am sure he's ready for 6f now judging by the york run, that suggested to me a nice prize can be landed this season.

Storm Cry, wasn't beat up last time running on too late at Epsom and down in grade can hopefully see the Carlisle finish out well for some compensation, sure to be tried over further again if failing imo.

waste of time following this trainer judging by the results, with the added info you are using about the trainer, the results are diabolical. as has been mentioned there's still plenty of time to turn things around. maybe w haggis would be a decent trainer
to follow for a thread of this kind next year. goodluck

Just one of his for me today, Celestation 6.05 Epsom. I've availed myself to some early 4-1. Positives: De Souza, front runner, drop in class, all angles I like. In fact, @ 4-1 it looks like a good back to lay in running play - not that I ever do any of that stuff, but it has gone 50% less than the BSP in running 6 out of 9 times. Negatives: lack of course form and Trainer Form at Course and Distance (around 1m 2f 17y) 10-124(8.06%) £-75.67 Ouch!

3.00 Newmarket. I'm guessing James Doyle isn't on poets society because he can't do the weight? Also Norton is on Love Dreams. Surely he must have had the pick of the two?

You may be right dibdob (certainly right about Doyle with weight), if Poets hadn't have won that class 4 last time though had plenty of racing, coming here with that york effort in the same grade would have been very strong profile wise.

Love Dreams looks raw and thus far has been 1 dimensional point and shoot runner, I just prefer Poets today because despite all the runs, on turf only 3 at this distance and the last one at the distance was the sort of effort you'd want to see, just might be a bit more savvy for this task at this stage but of course it is very competitive as expected for such a prize.

For me I've seen plenty this season to suggest a big field and a galloping 6f is now a good fit for Poets Society, I wouldn't discount 7 at some stage.

Tomorrow is that race from last year come round again (ode to evening, yard won it 4 times on the bounce). At first glance I likes the look of Monticello.

Beardwood is very strong profile wise but running at the graveyard (York!) Devil From a really strong sample generally york gave figs of 0-36, it pretty much sinks any positive.
