A couple of potentially interesting profile picks at Beverley tomorrow in the 3yo hcps, election day and the blues master.

Will probably be able to take or leave the blues master at it's current and likely sort of price sub 2/1 but election day would certainly be of interest at it's current price or bigger (6/1).

As this is an sp thread I'd really like to see how the land lies nearer the races.

PJ Macdonald teaming up with MJ after jacking in his first job to Ann Duffield is one to note this season imo

Cheers all and gl those that are playing today.

I'm very wary at this stage of the season with the yard's runners but Beverley often bucks plenty of trends with MJ and he's sent out 17 winners from 41 in these 3yo hcps in their first run of their 3yo turf campaign at the track since BFSP.

I thought election day would be a fair bit shorter than 7/1 on here but there are some doubts with it possibly with trip and ground and the race looks competitive for the grade. With regards the trip, firstly there would be few runners that look potentially progressive in this age group that MJ would send to this track that failed for stamina. The sire indexes don't jump out for 10f but the percentages are actually slightly better for 10-12f then less than 12f which surprised me a bit. The horse showed plenty of resolution on bad ground at Hamilton the back end of the 2yo campaign over 8 1/2f and I'd be surprised if this 10f round here was the cause for defeat. The ground has turned faster recently and though it's not been encountered since the debut, fast going round here has further enhanced this trainers already exceptional record in this sort of race. When looking at how many last time out winners MJ's runners were coming up against in this sample of runners at the track he's pitched in 4 runners in races with 4 lto winners (including his) and come out successful on 3 occasions, generally the level of competitiveness has not seemed the slightest issue.

The blues master is obviously in the same group and It will be no surprise at all if it wins again but I'm pretty sure over the season I'm not going to be ahead at this sort of price/profile of runner so will let this one through, obviously hope it does the business for those on and with doubles.

striding, I've kept records for MJ at Beverley from 2010 onwards.

He does particularly well in 3yo H/C's as you've mentioned.

I look forward to reading this topic.

Good luck

going to beverley today, will have a look at his runners, johnston been putting pj macdonald up lately as he has won on the pair, but still would prefer joe fanning who is mustard from the front at beverley.

The more the merrier STATS Wink

Ashleigh, yes it is very strange to see Joe there not riding these 2yo's and I would have been perplexed had PJ not won on these horses already, it is a worry because joe and MJ are as you say mustard at farming this type of race and interestingly Joe is up on one of Bethell's in the blues master race (a few MJ favs have been turned over at track when Joe been on outside mounts but nowhere near enough evidence to be a huge concern)

I've got a feeling the late betting will say a lot in the 4:00, I don't mind drifters in a lot of circumstances but in this sort of race/grade round here I'd hope for a bit of support rather than it being adrift come race time from the top 3 in mkt.
