except that some of the leave campaigners instrumental in the wording of the advert are in the cabinet and knew it was an outright lie
of course anyone believing it would be a fool but there are a lot about |

Seems like you can make any promise whatsoever when you are outside of government and it won't count after, feckin ell
By:
Aye, I'm sure someone in government promised immigration in the tens of thousands despite knowing he had no contro over numbers, how did that one go?
By:
Seems like you can make any promise whatsoever when you are outside of government and it won't count after, feckin ell
It wasn't a promise anyway. I don't see anyone providing a link. |
By:
Why say it then? See below from the Telegraph, everyone knows that they made this promise no point in denying it now.
Nigel Farage has admitted that it was a "mistake" to promise that £350million a week would be spent on the NHS if the UK backed a Brexit vote. |
By:
Well there's no ambiguity about what the government said before the referendum:
From Andrew Marr to the Business Secretary today, whose department issued these warning: ''Where's the punishment budget that predicted taxes up and spending slashed?'' Also: Recession within two years 3.6 contraction in GDP. Higher inflation. House prices to fall by 10% 500,000 jobs lost. ''Do you stand by any of that?'' The Business Secretary would endorse none of it. |
By:
Now contrast that to the snatching at straws efforts on here about the NHS money.
Whose exact wording they can't even back up. |
By:
![]() That suggests it WOULD be spent on the NHS. Obviously it was a lie and leave voters fell for it. |

We're the day after the election, the pound has already had a beating. Do you think there won't be some cuts that will have to be made because of this?
By:
That isn't a promise that's a suggestion.
Where has anyone in government said that it won't be implemented? |

We're the day after the election, the pound has already had a beating. Do you think there won't be some cuts that will have to be made because of this? It was generally agreed that the pound was overvalued ..... CC - you are being naive to come to conclusions so quickly - if you are in the markets a long term view is what is required. |
By:
The pound has been taking a beating for two years or more.
What's new? |
By:
For a while I was thinking I'd dreamt that £350 million bollox, talk about desperate.
By:
And also ...
millhouse is getting bigged up on here - those who have read his posts over the years should realise that he is a pessimist - this situation sits perfectly for him ... So many of you have lost confidence - there may be short term problems but our future is in our own hands .. What sort of leader (Cameron) is happy to let an undemocratic/unelected body make decisions on our behalf? He should be ashamed of himself? As should many on this thread. |

"Brexit voters were fully aware that they were voting for Armageddon and still voted to leave ?"
I don't think they were fully aware ! It seems the British are now madly searching to figure out what the European Union is according to Google. In the last 2 days Google says one of the top questions was “What is Brexit?” ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

By:
I'm a born glass half empty sort but even I think that the negativity is ridiculous. I actually believe that this could invigorate the people of this country but some won't be happy unless the country collapses.
By:
Nobody in high circles has been talking about Armageddon for the UK economy since the result of the referendum was announced.
I think we can put most the doom and gloom talk in the bin. See where the markets are at the end of next week. We might have a pleasant surprise, especially the FTSE100. |
By:
We already give the NHS £2billion a week. I say spend it on MP's expenses (they will anyway)
By:
"Our future is in our hands".
Wrong. Your future is in the hands of a yet to be elected prime minister and unknown cabinet who may not then win the likely general election and, even if he/she does, may have a very different view of how to exit from most of those who voted to do so. Power to the people? |
By:
cyclops - I expected better ....
We can vote out leaders in and out ... Not possible in the EU .... |
By:
Crepello, those who actually know me would say I'm the absolute opposite of a pessimist, and there's no comfort at all taken by me in this sorry situation.
Anything I ever post on here is just calling it as I see it, nothing else, and imho, there's every reason for the people of this country to be very worried indeed... |
By:
Oh for Gods sake the sheer pessimism and defeatism of the remainers is getting embarrassing.
This is actually a fantastic opportunity. |
By:
I just heard IDS say on the telly that the £350 million should go to the NHS.
He speaks for the leave campaigners. So what are they on about on here? |
By:
You've been denying they said it, ffs.
By:
UKIP leader Niger Farage has said the Leave campaign's pledge to give an extra £350m a week to the NHS was a "mistake".
It was never a claim Mr Farage made himself, but official Leave campaign adverts on posters and buses said: "Let’s give our NHS the £350m the EU takes every week.".....SKY NEWS |
By:
Huge shock coming to white working class brexit voters
What sort of idiot singles out White working class voters? Does he really think that black and Asian voters all are remain? Second generation immigrants are some of the most enthusiastic leave voters. |
By:
You've been denying they said it, ffs.
I asked where they had said it? Again, you're making things up that haven't been said. |
By:
"Let’s give our NHS the £350m the EU takes every week.".....SKY NEWS
That's a suggestion, not a pledge from someone not in a position to deliver it. |

![]() The "united" kingdom still fighting each other, way after the pointless battle! And to think these clowns point the finger at us in Ireland. It seems even the winning faction "Leave" cannot even agree on what they write on their silly battlebus. The other side, equally awash with well-paid professional politicians cannot even find a leader. And, now that there's nobody left to scapegoat and blame for failure, nobody is in any hurry to actually take the plunge and get on with getting out. ![]() What a shower of frauds altogether! All are a discredit to their country and should stop meddling in Ireland and Scotland; they cannot even run their own place. What are they waiting for now? I'd guess that immigration ( seems to be what most folk thought the vote was about) is already on the increase, only days after this silly, wasteful, referendum. Whose idea was it anyway? |
By:
I'm beginning to think there's nothing to worry about as our next prime minister might well decide not to give notice to the EU so we just continue as before.
By:
This kind of thread / tosh is to be expected. The media was well behind the remain campaign and we are getting the consequential detritus. I think it's worth remembering, this was one time the sheep didn't follow the nonsense
By:
If you think the will of a nation can be ignored carte blanche and the outcome ignored then you are even more stupid than I thought you to be.

The scare mongering by the remain camp was no more than the knowledge that the market would take a drop if
Brexit won.( Speculators were to blame for that drop, not Brexit.) Their concerns were purely personal. They have had huge amounts wiped off their stocks and shares. To them, that's a disaster. Poor things.Let them eat humble pie I say! The markets will recover and the speculators will profit again. Even after the people have spoken, the scare mongers are still at it. And as for the people signing the petition for another referendum they have shown their true colours: democracy be damned! |
