flat season so far 7-26 of 2yo's have obliged
Just 3-61 of the 3yo's have managed to win Todays 2yo newcomer Book Of Poetry (2:30 Beverley) is interesting as the trainer is 12-40 with this sire, 11-28 of these have scored as 2yo (1-6 on debut), no 5f winner as yet but only 4 have run at distance. Despite the poor return for the 3yo's so dar this turf season, i am actually going to play all 3 of them today. ![]() 4:30 Beverley Autumn Blossom This horse has won its mdn at southwell on debut but has only had 1 turf run to date and that was here over the 7.5f last time. A lot of the yards unexposed 3yo's are often stepped up in trip seeing this track for the first or 2nd time to good effect and this one looks worth a play to me off a rating of 63.current price 9.6. 5:00 Beverley Scarpeta Rightly or wrongly I marked up scarpeta's seasonal reappearance at bath quite a bit.Was pestered for the early pace and up there all the way, those sat behind had a decent advantage and where the other pace dropped out, this horse not only kept going but was rallying at the finish.Of course we are talking a really low level of race here but though up 6lb for that, off a rating of 53 today i can see this horse enjoying it round here today. Of course we have a prescott lurker and other unexposed runners but i have to give this runner a big chance in this. 5:55 Chepstow Regal Monarch This horse did little wrong on it's hcp debut over today's trip running into one of ed dunlop's many recent winners at donny (well strung out behind). These races are fraught with danger, Prescott yet again has a runner and don cantillon used to be the master of running up a sequence, with his recent winner (rated 32 at time) being a real head scratcher. At least Mj's has shown it's well being and i think it's certainly worth another chance with the slightest drop in class (which often works wonders for yard). |

After I saw this thread on Sunday I wondered if you had put up his 2yo at Musselburgh yesterday. On Friday he has the machine Chupalla entered (Boater too). Looking forward to seeing her on turf as I was convinced she'd win at R Ascot wherever she ran.
gl today his 3yo's will hit form soon especially on the quicker ground ![]() |

I might give some of his green looking ones a chance fatlad (like huntlaw), I thought yesterday's musselburgh winner looked pretty straight on debut but it was on soft ground so there's every chance the duffield winner that day just handled the conditions much better than the others.
I certainly hope the 3yo's do come into form soon, I have taken a punt on the well being of a few to date, I am more confident today's selections are at least at the track ready to do something. cheers ![]() |

*obviously huntlaw a 3yo but only run at 2 looking green

The owner of Whereverwecan was interviewed after the race yesterday and he said first time they thought the ground would be on the easy side of Good
so they ran him and I thought I couldn't predict the ground . Anyway in his words he said that his horse will do well on quicker ground and the Duffield horse is well thought of so they were happy enough with the run on debut. |

another poor effort from autumn blossom nothing left 2 out, don't think it saw trip out.

On the plus side gives the Regal Monarch form a lift from Donny,Livella Fella 14 1/2l behind
By:
They were strung out in that race Fatlad
just seems to be a big caution on backing his 3yo's full stop early season, i know when the summer months get going he peaks but was expecting a few more than he's got to date. this scarpeta seems very short now given all that! |
By:
I thought 3.3 was short
2.6 is ![]() |

bit of a 1 horse market now
By:
scraped in thought it was getting done there
By:
the sp's on the 2 winners to date have done me but the fairest way of doing the thread.
By:
A bit harsh considering between 5/2 & 3/1 had been readily available
By:
I'd agree about A B striding, J F eased up on him... faster ground/shorter trip !
By:
Surely can't be Good to Firm ?....
By:
it travelled and found zilch hal
ground certainly not g/f with the persistent drizzle. perhaps one more chance tops back in trip but i'm not convinced about this one's resolution either. |
By:
I was going to say that getting a profit at bfsp on Johnston horses would be a good achievement stridingedge as the public are like magnets to his horses and I think that the industry keep them short wd on the winner
By:
price gone a point shorter on regal monarch now

was weak earlier out to 6 from 5

thats a better day

wd done again striding
but absolutely desperate on the price ![]() |
By:
i had 5, 4.43sp for a 11/4 shot not too bad tbh
just nice to get a couple of the 3yo's in today ![]() |
By:
Nice one
. I was meaning when it comes down to profit most people are counting what prices they could've had so when you draw a profit at bfsp's it'll be well earned especially from such a popular yard |
By:
Yes i get what you mean fatlad.
I am really banking on getting on enough of his runners with poor looking recent form i have an angle on (from how he has got similar winners in past) 5.0+ in market, they are the group of runners that will determine how this goes ![]() |

Decided to sit out today. The 3yo's at bath later don't really fit, thought certainly wouldn't be too surprised if am caught out.
The big meets at york are not where i have many positives with this yard, i have gone through each runner and the one i was deliberating about most was yorkidding in the 5:20. Pulled up last time but from 9 such runners on the flat MJ has won with 3 nto (blue wave 20/1, epic 7/1, spirit is needed 11/1), yes a minute sample but certainly hard to rule out any on this basis too! This horse has won 3 races on turf (inc 2 class 4's) on good or faster and of course has a CD win on it's record too. It's been patchy to say the least but has raced in higher class races and a couple of efforts in particular last summer would make it of interest back down to this class. In the end I talked myself out of it but this would be just the type that pops in from nowhere i am dreading ![]() |

I'll be having a look at Rythmical tomorrow night stridingedge back on quicker ground though Indira will be hard to beat
By:
I've not looked at tomorrow yet Fatlad.

I trickle of money coming in for Yorkidding. I quite like Eqleem in the 4.20. The horse is making a reappearance after having 3 runs last year and a gelding op. Ran against horses who have pretty decent ratings now, better than anything in here. Running on better ground which will hopefully suit and a plum draw given how races have be ran here today Priced in the 40's on here and has drifted, but worth chancing for me

i'll be watching yorkidding from behind the sofa dibdob

7th..given a bit of shocker by Hanagan. Should have placed easily. He's not had a good day.

@striding edge
Interesting that Fanning is booked for Newmarket tomorrow, then all the way to Hamilton on Friday and all the way back to Newmarket Saturday. Must be a winner from one of them, surely?? What's your verdict? |
By:
Rigsby a nice little treck indeed! I have had a look and he has certainly done trips from hamilton down to places like newmarket and lingfield in consecutive days.
I know the hamilton jaunts with this pair have been very productive and this is a track where the last run in mdns has often been left well behind, I have the novice runner on friday on the green list and these can often come on a ton for the debut run so an interesting runner. As far as i can tell there have been no novice contests at hamilton since 2009, MJ has a great over all record in these events and had 4 wins from his 7 runners up at hamilton 2003 (earliest in my DB)-2009. I haven't properly looked into tomorrow's runners yet but all must be taken seriously that are sent up there. |
By:
Nothing scores high enough for me to take an interest in any of today's runners, another sit out job and watch from the sidelines.
By:
Have you looked at the Johnston runners at York for tomorrow Striding? He had 4 winners here on this day last year!
By:
Good decision on not backing Rythmical stridingedge she looked less than keen though maybe wasn't handling the track. Indira spared my blushes but I'll be looking out for Rythmical on a more conventional track and maybe in a bit of headgear,cp's would be my choice but Mr J often goes bl/vis.
By:
No not yet dibdob will be looking later and deciding early tomorrow. As i have said before i'm quite happy mostly dealing with the lower class stuff, MJ and SDS did have a fantastic time last year but this course in general has not been that productive.
I wouldn't be surprised if kahrab gives lomu a much better race at hamilton in tomorrows novice opener on those terms. Fatlad I'm not sure there was much of a plan with rythmical tonight certainly better than that imo. |
By:
Yeah can defintely do better,I've just watched that Goodwood race again to check I hadn't imagined it but was a very clear 2nd best despite oodles of trouble they must have a plan of sorts because tonight as you say there wasn't one!
