Do wah Diddy - 'EVEN THOUGH IVE STILL GOT AN I O U OFF HIM FOR 30 MARBLES THAT HE OWES ME'
So are you saying that you've lost your marbles? |
By:
All I remember about HF was that he got into some sort of trouble for allegedly giving instructions to pull his horse 'Denman' in a race and was cheesed off by the way he was treated by the authorities over that alleged incident. I think it was before exchanges came into existence. Anyway, the result from what I remember was that he sold his share in the horse and went off in a huff to Ozzy land and said that he would have nothing more to do with UK horse racing ever again!

By:
Thought he layed one of his horses to back it in running and got done for the laying. Can't remember if he got banned but he was definitely p1ssed that Nichols wouldn't stand by him

Findlay won an appeal in 2010 to have his 6month ban overturned for a breach of BHA betting regulations. He had bet on one of his horses, Gullible Gordon, to lose in two races. However (BHA) accepted he bet more on the horse to win and had no corrupt motive.
In the first race, Gullible Gordon, an odds-on favourite, was well beaten. Findlay bet £80,000 on the horse winning and £17,000 on it losing and came out with a net loss of £62,000. The horse, a 4-6 favourite, won the second race and Findlay backed him to the tune of £64,000 but also laid the horse off at £32,000. He came out with a profit of £35,000. Harry said after that he would turn his back on UK racing after that. He estimates winning more than $1 million betting on Black Caviar and Frankel though! |
By:
He used to smssh into the Nicholls shorties on here. Remember PN had a a couple of real short ones beaten in fairly quick succession at about 3 or 4s on, think that wasn't long before he went skint.
By:
I hope Harry is surviving & thriving in whatever field he is active in, same with Terry Ramsden, both inspirational characters who showed what is possible if you dream big. Both victims of snobbery I would hazard a guess.
By:
Sparrow - thanks for that fuller explanation.
By:
he owed betfair a million was the rumour. but he had paid 7 mil in commission,,,
betfair allows credit? |
By:
Good to know Harry just like the rest of us, compulsive, high expectations, a rebel and the opposite, I wish him good health and happiness.
By:
a character for sure
and the game needs charactershe'd be a perfect fit for a role in the ring on ITV imo, get chapman roaming around doing other things |
By:
PIty he couldn't keep Coventry going .... would be holding the Derby in a few months.
By:
yep agree ian
but just as towcester are finding, its a fast way of burning cash |
By:
His efforts at Coventry were very commendable, but the location of track just like Towcester are away from the sports supporters, 10 mile to nearest train station from Towcester, try getting back from that place at night, £25 quid taxi and struggle for a train? You have to drive these days to get to racing, the trains are over expensive, taxis etc, Will have to stick to the chair methinks!(Horse racing is the same)
By:
It falls on deaf ears(so be it)
By:
I used to visit Bath many years ago, £60 to get to track on train from Brum (what a disaster) you are into £80 before you have a meal + drink, without having a bet. (I blame capitalism) it is fooked!
By:
In fairness to Harry I think it is only right to mention that he believed that he had been given the green light to lay his horses in that manner.
By:
He had a decent dog called Blue Marlin , won stacks of opens, beaten at long odds on in the Northern Derby at Bolton though; Some good dogs in the North West back then.
By:
In real terms the poor are taking home just £220-£240 a week, and Bath like visits are now ruled out, let alone Newton abbott, plumpton, etc
By:
They don't want ya to drink, smoke, travel, and now they want minimum 6 month subscriptions from Virgin media, what a joke no monthly pay as you go contract-less from them???? Mobile phones the same, does no one see the incoming further financial collapse? They want a mortgage from ya just for breathing!

Coming out the EU and possible effect on work will probably be painful to most, for I bet the working time directive will be turned on its head(the first of the Tory basterds goals, 50-60 hours no pay or playtime.Welcome to the American way.
