Agree with that TheCollector.  Clearly they've realised they've made a boo-boo by not bothering with authorisation codes, and they've effectively put a lock on any customers who might have been involved - which seems to be the ones who deposited last week.I withdrew some money on Friday evening, and that was in my Neteller account by Saturday, so it's not affecting everybody. I have just withdrawn some of my money now, so it'll be interesting to see whether it makes it out. This isn't happening because BF are going bust, for the reasons that you state. Having said that, it's clearly a problem, and BF could end up massively out of pocket if they can't claim money that people were never technically able to deposit.  From that point of view, it's a definite worry - not to mention the fact that there'll be a lot of angry customers as a result of this, some of whom may go permanently.

That was pretty much my guess too from previous posts from other people. Though I didn't really want to start any false rumours without knowing full information.

Bilbo, could be they're simply putting locks on the accounts of anyone who uses Natwest/HSBC and other related firms.

Knowing how long it takes them to sort out a simple US Horse Race when they don't press the suspend button at the correct time, I'd hate to think how long something as massive as this will take them to resolve...    End of the century, perhaps?

think this seems to be the situation , as I have had withdrawals no problem last week and just emailed them a minute ago and they said it does not affect my account, so it must be certain banks only .

My registered bank/BS is Nationwide, and I don't appear to be affected. Has anyone else using Nationwide had any problems?

So they're treating the vast majority of people as criminals when it should be clear who was responsible. If that's the case, it's utterly disgusting.

There seem to be people here much more familiar with the debit card payment processed than I am so perhaps someone can answer my question.

When I use my debit card in a shop I can see the full transaction in my internet banking statement the next day ie. the name of the shop and the amount spent. When I deposit on Betfair it takes a couple of days for the amount of the transaction to appear at all and a day more for it to specify that it was a payment to Betfair.

In fact I think in the past I've withdrawn money after checking my balance at an ATM only to find later that I've gone overdrawn because a payment to Betfair has gone through that was made days previously.

What do Betfair do differently from other companies?

What a joke company. They've been run in to the ground the past 1 or 2 years.

That's not just Betfair. My debit card and credit card activity dates simply don't follow any obvious pattern. Some companies take longer than others.

The only strange thing I ever notice is when the money registers on my account,e.g. withdraw on monday, hits the bank on thursday....it always says on my statement that it was there the day before it actually was, don't know if that's to do with the bank or betfairConfused

I use Nationwide,  deposited with them on Friday,  legit deposit,  wont let me withdraw,  so it really does appear to be when you deposited not the bank itself

Any chance of betfair making a statement on this subject.Would really like to know.
Ill be making no more bets until this is cleared up.
Very poor service,if you can not tell customers what is going on.

We are more than aware that Betfair are experiencing a problem withdrawing funds from our accounts. We are investigating this as a high priority and certainly hope you do have the issue resolved by the end of today. We hope you appreciate our patience and are fully aware of the inconvenience you have caused.

Honkyjoe, haven't had any problems I'm aware of with Nationwide. However did a deposit and a withdrawal on Friday -  the deposit showing in Nationwide but the withdrawal still to be credited. Hopefully it turns up tomorrow!

Can't withdraw, have been trying since Sunday(try later appears)and I'm with Barclays. Also when I try to withdraw through paypal it says I'm not authorised to use. Then tried a bank transfer - no  joy. Sent 2 emails neither answered. Like others here, it is hard to accept why such a major concern does not at least making some statement for the sake of their users. Why keep us in the dark and act like it isn't happening. Very odd and very worrying.

I doubt Betfair are going bust and I certainly don't think they are out to nick our money. In fact like some others I rather imagine they have somehow allowed themselves to be scammed. However by saying nothing I think they are asking for all the garbage that is being thrown their way.

If the problems are with the deposits made on Thursday and Friday and a bet was placed and won. What will happen to the winnings? Obviously for many they weren't scamming bet fair but just trying to place a bet....

Would seem very unfair for a pundit not to receive the winnings due to the initial deposit leaving the account in the 1st place.

I for one don't check with my bank every time I make a deposit....
