Ok just back from holidays...whats the script here? People trying to withdraw then waiting ages to receive the cash in the bank or just not receiving it at all?

its nothing to do with banks.

betfair accepted deposits over a period of time, credited peoples accounts, but got no authorisation codes from the intermediary bank.

people noticing they were depositing and not having funds debited from their balance loaded up and withdrew.  betfair noticed what happened and suspended all withdrawals until they knew which funds they had, and which would bounce.  thus impacting a lot of decent customers.

basically they ballsed up, and we all have to pay the price.  more afraid of a few people owing them a few quid than upsetting 15000 of their "valued" customers.

that makes sense. I've only done withdrawals, haven't made a deposit in a few months. Not bigging myself up or anything, but explains why i haven't been affected.

steview84 - Thank you for your posts on this and other threads. You're the only reason I have any idea what's going on. Of course Betfair Customer Services should be the reason I know what's going on but you have done a much better job.

Confused here...simple question. If I withdraw today when will I receive my money?

im pretty sure they're trying to keep it quiet.  i had to kick up quite a fuss to get an answer.  was told numerous time its a techincal problem.  this is clouding the truth, as it was a techincal problem, they have now resolved it.  i dont see why they cant check whether our deposits are authorised then process.  i know mine were earmarked by my bank.

it stinks.

if you deposited thursday or friday, you'll be in the 15000 and could wait.

if not, go for it, you wont be affected.

I made a couple of withdrawals last week and they both went through by Friday, I hope I don't win anything in the next couple of days, looks like I will lose my bank on here like I did with Sporting Options. Ironically Betfair honoured their debt and paid e £350

my withdrawals were removed from my statement, now no record of them.  not back in my account either.

was told they're being held.  i asked why i wasn't notified and why they've not merely added a reversal to the statement rather than removing something.  was apologised to.  this action is a little suspicious.

Best thing we can do is not deposit and not bet anymore with betfair until they hopefully sort out the mess they are in.

I would say it is highly unlikely that Betfair would go into liquidation. Share price would dive and this thread would be well removed long before now.

Surely some of the "Smart minds" can find a way out of this? Mischief Perhaps a series of lays on hear and backs elsewhere for some short 'uns with similar prices might surfice. Or you could dig a bigger hole for yourself Grin

Agree with that TheCollector.  Clearly they've realised they've made a boo-boo by not bothering with authorisation codes, and they've effectively put a lock on any customers who might have been involved - which seems to be the ones who deposited last week.

I withdrew some money on Friday evening, and that was in my Neteller account by Saturday, so it's not affecting everybody. I have just withdrawn some of my money now, so it'll be interesting to see whether it makes it out.

This isn't happening because BF are going bust, for the reasons that you state. Having said that, it's clearly a problem, and BF could end up massively out of pocket if they can't claim money that people were never technically able to deposit.  From that point of view, it's a definite worry - not to mention the fact that there'll be a lot of angry customers as a result of this, some of whom may go permanently.

I have just seen one of Betfayre's senior managers at an airport with a very large suitcase. I asked him and he sayed he was going where Stoutey went. Mischief

I haven't deposited for months but all my withdrawals have been pending since 20th - that's 11 withdrawals. This is disgusting and the lack of information more so.
