Fair enough, so you would have lost the lot if he had gone on and won without a spike in price?
By:

No, there was some margin pre race which reduced the liability but it is fair to say I had more exposure than I wanted IR.

Especially as JS had an entry today at Stratford, would have been some fun on here if he had been declared!

Layed Face Value @8.2 3.25 Ayr

Can see scope for a decent price drift pre race with this fellow. This is very competitive and his mark is not really reflecting the fact that he is out of form.

Would like to be green pre race as he is likely to try and make all so early downward price spike likely.

would you lay for a profit either way or only if he loses profit....if that makes sense
By:

I try to profit win or lose as I have found this suits my mind better! The reality is anything can happen and although I think markets tell plenty about the likely outcome of a race they are not foolproof.

The key thing for me is a fixed liability and chip away pre race but not be afraid to take a loss if the target is a front runner as this is only likely to be matched IR if it is going backwards.

Much prefer jump racing where the horse has a dodge that the race is likely to expose and hopefully the keep bets set at decent odds are matched as many of the pre race greens are minimum wage stuff!

Well that was easier than expected. Interesting to see how he goes in the race and the market.

Interesting ride and looks like job done for a few in the place market.

Layed Galloping Gander @5.1 2.25 Listowel.

This should have room to drift pre race as it already looks short on what amounts to a Beginners Chase win and not much else. Clearly this is not a race full of improvers so he cant be ruled out but the profiles of the others suggest some of them must be dropping to workable marks. That is the beauty of handicaps, there is always something heading to a winning mark.

The style of running should help if green is not achieved pre race. We shall see.

Modest green. Interesting IR as he may get quite big.

Tripless and gutless.
By:

Layed Dawn Commander@5.3 4.30 Plumpton.

Clearly on handicapping he has a chance today but there are plenty of reasons to oppose also. Has fluffed plenty of chances over fences and hurdles and is basically a weak finisher. The race is competitive with all having a chance and as predicted Sail And Return is back over hurdles with a chance.

Likely to drift from this point he looks a fair trade.

Ran on well but dogged it all the way bar the straight and a nice green, albeit relying on IR but not going to be difficult with his attitude.

Early mistakes helped but green just after half way with some 10 matched so fairly cosy. He is very lazy and a great trading horse

now........has a trade ever gone horribly wrong.......I tried trading......it went well for a while....made a small amount of money until I layed an horse at Yarmouth on a  fatefull Tuesday....layed it at 2/1 but his priced plunged.........I panicked in running......I cant remember the actual details but I remember I lost about 200 quid in running trying to get out of the bet......the horse actually lost ........cant remember what happened  but that was the upshot.........it was a disaster

My lay trades have been pretty stable and no dramas. I try to keep away from turf flat races with the exception of distance races and horses where I feel that a profile of the horse has already emerged, so not many maidens. I love the criminal horses on the AW, they have plenty of previous.
It is also important to keep away from frontrunners unless I feel they are out of form or there is a substantive reason to take them on. Quite simply the price of frontrunners tends to collapse and you are fighting to get out and only do so if they are on the retreat.
The key for me is to get plenty of counter trades matched before the off but with jump racing providing I think the horse has a clear dodge it is no great concern if I don't get to my target of about 60% green pre race.
I do have the odd win bet and try to trade those. They are ok but could be better. Sir Reginald struck me as well handicapped and being messed around with and backed him at Chester to win plenty. He finished strongly without ever looking like winning and not one lay trade was matched! I then traded out completely when he won at Ayr as the vibes pre race were so bad!

Tame finish last time and does not look that well treated off 128. This should do better in time over fences but it is a competitive race likely to be truly run. Already on the way to green and would prefer to be out pre race.

Ha ha! Greened up for 234 pence. Classic case of not managing the position last night concentrating too much on the Brooce tribute on MTV. Shame as this look very simple and happened very quickly so will be interesting to see where he goes from here in the market and the race.

More than happy to show all the trades if that helps. Just assumed all the original lay trade had been matched last night. If you look thru the thread I have posted the original trade before and are happy to do so again. 100% of this thread is honest and true.

not really, it was after all you that said you "were on your way to green" which at the time Delta stuck up the figures to prove that wasnt exactly the case. if im honest the way you trade you could put anything up here, might be true might be bollox, i just find your replies very amusing at times. good luck today............. im sure you'll make a profit or at least green out, it looks like you always do.

As stated, happy to post every tiny detail, before, during or after a trade. This is a low risk strategy that works well, it would be great if it generated other ideas but sadly the forum has too many people who seem intent on destroying this valuable platform which used to contain opinions and advice.

oh and when did it become a trading thread like you say, after Jonnie Skull won. looks to me you had plenty of time to explain how you played before the horse ran. would you have said you had traded out if the horse had been unplaced.

Still wont get the trip

i would suggest not.

why should Delta apologise, he stated the facts at the time, you come up with a cancelled lay,  like i said earlier you can make up anything when trading the way you say you do and before you go off on one, im not saying you are but the whole thread in my opinion is anything but crystal clear from start to finish.
