Who said anything about part-time?? Unlike you I have each runners form in front of me for every race, when the weather changes(it is the uk you know) it's christmas day for me! Homework homework homework = 60 hours a week.

each runners for? now thats a novel concept, you should patent it and call it oh i dunno the racing post or timeform

Gaps in selections enable you to do more researching whilst listening to ATR interviews etc

Carla, you are paranoid.
Did you assume that I was calling you a part-timer.
You on drugs ??

How on earth would I know anything about you, even less that I have no desire to know.
Your words tell me all I need to know.
Make of that what you will !!

Sweet, bit more to it than that, got 12 screens in my office and one click I've got 12 of any horses races in front of me, I could go through a race probably 20 times faster than the average punter.

Carla, do you not specialise.
How many races on a card on average would you go through in fine detail.
Do you rule any out ??

I don't really need 12 screens to go through 2 races at a meeting.

Mike don't rule any out, 60% is the going for me.

Very few horses can go on a bog or very fast ground, Frankel would be the obvious one.

Do you punt in 2-y-o races where none have run

i personally never touch such races, ok you could get a fare idea of likelihood of acting on the going from bloodlines but theres always exceptions to the rule

Do you analyse over a long period the type of races you win or lose most in
By:
ladycarla
When: 30 May 13 00:50
Yes if the trainer is less than 3% over last five years but been caught even on them.
By:

When: 30 May 13 00:51
Analysis has shown to avoid handicaps, 2yo races, bumpers, chases in particular.
Selling stakes and maidens 3yo upwards are best for me
By:

Yes, my best percentages are going changes and handicaps but I don't stick to these purely on the basics that it's only a 8 year stat.

Surely all these parameters we each have are merely a starting point, then we go into things more deeply.
I look for reasons not to lay and if there are any unknown grey areas I DONT PLAY.
There are always other races tomorrow.
Losing is so stressful and for me working out Handicaps is stressful as are Chases where i'm worried at every fence - especially when Walsh is onboard Excited

mike lets imagine you had a lay checklist of say ten variables...lets say for example going, trainer, jockey, course, form, draw, recent record, etc how many ticks would it take to be a lay? ten out of ten?
By:
ladycarla
When: 30 May 13 01:01
A good handicap lay is 2nd time winners in handicaps, by the 3rd time they try to win they are up at least 12lbs and even if they do win its 20lb for the fourth. Hunt ball was the only one I can remember doing me damage last year.

A most enjoyable thread but do you guys who put all this effort in your attempts

to make the game pay ever get to bed?  My betting patterns on horses these days are

95% lays and 5% backs, the funny thing for me is the 95% of the fekkers I lay seem

to have grown another leg as well as having had a blood transfusion and the bleeders

I back seem to run like cripples.Grin

Eck, you've been on here quite a long time so you must be doing many things right.
Many disappear after a few years and they must be doing many things wrong.
I turned it around on Betfair when I had more time to devote to the sport.

Rothman, I had a run recently of laying 69 consecutive losers but then in one

day laid 3 winners which decimated my accumulated winnings, very hard to avoid

laying winners.  I saw on one of your posts that you reside in Jarrow I am only

10 miles away in Newcastle, I had a good pal of mine, now deceased, who once lived

in Jarrow, Billy Botto perhaps you knew or knew of him a smashing lad. Good luck.

Laying now thats a ? laying one horse per race  dont matter what price  could be 4/6  or 25/1  ask any bookie to go to the course  pay the exs   and only lay one horse  no bookie would turn up
why i know that  i was on course for a long time
ask me another .
By:
RothmanMike
When: 30 May 13 12:24
How many 100/1 shots could you lay Zipper.
Difference on here is someone always wants to bet them
By:

When: 30 May 13 12:31
Rothman, when you lay 100 on here it may well be no more than 33s or at worst 40s industry price

when one lays an industry priced 100-1 chance, on here one has to lay anything from 200

to 400.
By:
RothmanMike
When: 30 May 13 12:36
One knows ,eck.
But on here price reflects more the horse's real chance as there is a far larger audience on here than in a racecourse market.

you can make a living but as everyone says discipline is the key dont lay above 3,1  and place laying  under 8 runners is good, if you no your form ie trainers, distance horse,
