Discipline is the key especially after a lay has won, doing well today and helped by laying the 3 placed favs in the 705 Bev and all 3 being out of first 3. Biggest price lay today 4.3 Chocolat and it won.

Rothman 2 questions, firstly how often do you lay a winner, secondly what do you do if you lay 2

on the turn? do you carry on trying to get it back in £3 increments.

".... number or reasons, such as not having a big enough bank to start with"

unless you really bad judge, wouldn't say you need a huge bank. How many losing runs are you going to have laying (?)  You don't need large amounts of money to start with, but you do need to turn that money over a lot.

Discipline is the key  ONLY  if you have an edge .

If you just decide to pick 1 horse every other month without value , this M.O becomes worthless .

VALUE can only be determined after a number of bets .

If you get 6-1 to roll a 6 on a dice ------ you may get 30+ losers on the trot but after 1000 you will be in profit .

Wee Eck,
Usually have 20ish bets so when I lose I need 40ish bets and very slightly up the target to £5 but maintain same system.
Don't go on tilt as I still have nearly £10k bank and I expect to lose occasionally (so no shock to the system) and try to retrieve losses on a monthly basis

PS Only takes 2 weeks to retrieve a £1k hit usually

Totally agree that discipline is the key; simply cannot deviate from your rules - if you do that you can win but it is a very gradual process

sorry to harp on mike, but how do you take a 1k hit laying 100.0 at 3 pounds, or do you lay higher than that, say 3 pound at 350.0 sometimes

Rothman I like the cut of your jib, best of luck.

Hence the realistic target, and you have to put the hours in.
I don't win fortunes daily but regularly and I have a happy disposition for 29/31 days a month.
Unlike most in betting shops who have bad attitudes, don't answer the door /phone, etc 'cos they've had yet another bad day.
I don't like losing.

Sometimes I lay 3 @100.0 in same race - novice /maiden hurdlers with big fields

it must hack you off if say you lay a horse at 300 for 3 quid, with a 900 liability, and betfair video tell you ''sorry your stake isnt big enough to view this race''

Most punters want to win too much too soon and risk far big  a percentage of their capital .

I get it all the time £60 a day??
When I tell them £60 per day 30DAYS PER MONTH = £2k.
Then they understand

Lol Zealot...that wasnt to be taken literally!...didnt mean every lay would go wrong...just that if you make an innocent mistake, it seems to have an uncanny knack of biting you

...another example, midsummer and for days on end racing started no earlier than 2pm. i laid one as a pre-race trade @ 19.0 only without realising it was first race of the day at 1.30...casually stroll back to computer after spot of lunch at 1.32 to see my 'lay' hitting front 1f out, winning @ BSP 27.0 Cry

rothman, do you lay horses under 100/1 sometimes too?
By:
RothmanMike
When: 29 May 13 21:45
Absolutely.
And one of my favs is laying 3-3 on soccer - usually between 70.0 -120.0
Always look to lay most of Alan Berrys at almost any price ;
lay Tie in many IPL matches ;
lay Tie in some rugby matches .
Yes with knowledge built up , I have many strings

AHH  rothman, thats a favourite of mine, laying the 3-3, but do you always let it ride or do you cut your losses at say 3-2?
By:
RothmanMike
When: 29 May 13 21:50
Not usually , as there are more goals scored in the final 10mins than at any other time.
If things are becoming uncomfortable after an hour, that is when I move to reduce liabilities - always watch games just in case.
By:
RothmanMike
When: 29 May 13 21:51
never get worried when HT is 2-2 as invariably there are no more goals in the second half
By:
RothmanMike
When: 29 May 13 21:53
Contradiction possibly, but whay I mean is when no goals have been scored one always pops up very very late

i laid 1-3, 2-3 and 3-3 in the england game, bailed on the 1-3, with 30 mins left as i had a nagging feeling ireland were going to score
By:

Layed 3-3 @ 130.0 for £5 and 0-3 (to Ireland) for £2

often when a perceived superior side is lets say 0-3 down, you can often still lay them at sub 30.0,  there was a game in brazil recently, palmeiros were 2-6 down at half time and they were 25-0 to lay, which was an absolute gift (finished 2-6)

another thing rothman, do you..like me, when laying big priced horses, get more edgy the nearer the last race you get, in case all the good work gets undone, or do you have the discipline to see it as a continuous system and not day to day? hope that made sense
By:
RothmanMike
When: 29 May 13 22:03
I don't go looking for bets any more , they come to me.
Most people wouldn't look at them.
Me and my mates used to travel to Brough Park to back a 1/6 marathon dog - know anyone else who would do that ?

By:

Not really, never expect any of them to win.
Certainly never stop after a hit, carry on, knowing that the next loss is at least 100 bets away.
