All the tracks are in for a drenching on Saturday and Monday.  After the flooding today I think they will all be struggling.

absolutely ridiculous this, weather has gone to pot, torrential rain x-mas week, could accept frost and snow of years gone by, but this!!!!
always look forward to kempton/chepstow, fcukin weather.

i hope chepstow and kempton are both on as i have layed the price wise anti post tips up to my armpits, sizzing europe each way and Le Beau bay, both are now non runners, so you will now know why i want them to be on!

Peterboro' Chase planned for Kempton now on 27/12 - total nonsense. Or is this an indication of Huntingdon's chances on Boxing Day ?

You can hedge in the on/off markets ronnie.  Both are open on here.

I'd imagine the brook next to the track will have burst its banks well before then demo.

I know times have changed but a bookmkaer from Ling Lane Leeds told me 25 years ago "edging is for the weak", you may not know him but Joe will.

Edging is something completely different Ronnie (Ref. Urban Dictionary)

I also know a very successful away racer from Birmingham who said "the profits in the hedging"

ANY NEWS ON SEDGE????????????????
By:
intheknow
When: 20 Dec 12 21:29
evening Lord Truth, this morning Sedgy reported 'soft, heavy in places'. I would imagine tomorrow mornings report will be 'heavy, waterlogged in places' if they have copped for the rain sweeping the country.

I can see a curtailed schedule on Boxing Day unless things dry out after the weekend, so you might end up at Wolves after all.

well they wouldn't be racing in my garden today , completely waterlogged
as for wetherby i'm 30 miles away and i'm certain that the area next to the A1 that big issue talks of will be a small lake
i'm sure that nearer the day ribero1 will instruct his butler to walk the dog that way and report back

Daft time of the year to be racing on grass. Wolves should be ok though.

@Adge, thanks for the correction, I meant A1 not M62, that's Pontefract!

What do you reckon to Welsh National at Donny on 29th if Chepstow is unraceable on 27th, I reckon you'd be pitching up for that gig?
By:
adge
When: 21 Dec 12 10:18
would be a good idea as doncaster racecourse takes water well but the BHA don't do good ideas e.g. peterborough chase nonsense.
i only bet on the flat at doncaster...on the 29th i expct to be at deepdale
By:

Just a thought Adge as both are (as you probably know) owned/run by northern racecourses and not many of their tracks could cope with such a field exc maybe Newcastle, which is probably likely to be as bad as Chepstow. Nice sandy base at Donny, so drains well I am told though if keeps raining like this even a beach will flood eventually. I read somewhere that Doncaster would need only a small rise in sea levels and would be on the coast as Hatfield and Thorne wastes would quickly be flooded. In fact out near Howden way a lot of the place names relate to the sea and were once actually coastal to some degree.

If wetherby have got it right re the forecast i can't see a problem, get tomorrow out of the way and then they seem to be ok.

Of course we've had rain but nothing like as bad as a month or so ago.Today it will probably be virtually  unraceable but by Boxing Day it could be alright, obviously depends on how much more we get.Another day like yesterday & I think they'll be struggling.

i think there is a shower promised in three days time guess that means racing will be off again ..... pathetic

Too many meetings on Boxing Day anyway and most of them are low quality. Raceclashes all over the place and no liqudity.

barton bank.
what an extremely selfish remark
every race meeting is packed with people actually enjoying a day out with a great atmosphere in the fresh air.
i can picture you moaning about liquidity whilst sat in your underpants

Just looking at it from a betting perspective, adge. A selfish remark, but an honest one and one many punters will agree with.
By:

When: 22 Dec 12 12:42
The words liquidity and underpants should never appear in the same sentence.

Agree with Adge, racing not run for the sake of sit at home punters, some people actually enjoy having a day out, hard as that might be for some to comprehend.
