if you are doing prices from 6-12 your bank is not big enough
the next one is weak 12.5 at present ![]() |
|
By:
i was expecting most of these to be around 3/1 (i know that was the minimum)
obviously as you creep up throught the odds the expected losing runs quickly increase |
|
By:
The bigger the odds ,the less you need to put on.

It's a load of bol ox
no prices that he's obtaining, you can't use BFSP because the other day there were no bets because the price was under 3-1 at the off then when a winner was under 3-1 at the off it had been backed earlier, so no stakes can be deduced at all. If the selections fail other horses can be added for later meetings so it's all pointless. Idiots saying prices obtained don't matter should even look at daft schemes like this to see how beating SP means so much and, over the long term means the difference between profit and loss. Some idiot said a 2-1 winner is better than a 9-4 loser yet if they both bet the same horses and one continually gets 9-4 whilst the other gets 2-1 and that is the usual SP who wins over time? They obviously don't understand overround either to see you can back, or lay, every horse in a race to profit if you get the right prices. |
|
By:
grocer come on mate you must know i am aware of that
i was just saying that the expected losing runs increase dramatically, of course the stakes are less |
|
By:
I obviously don't understand Buzzer. Are you seriously saying that you will back a 9/4 loser abover a 2-1 winner cos you have better odds.
|
|
By:
Why has the 3/1 discipline gone out the window?
It all seems reckless now ![]() |
|
By:
3/1 was only the minimum chelsea girl
it was just used as an example by a few on here including myslef to indicate what sort of losing runs to expect around that price. |

wd job done with a double figured winner

|
By:
No i'm saying if someone takes 9-4 on a horse and someone takes 2-1 on the same horse and they do this consistently, they bet the same horses to the same stakes every day so they have the same amount of winners and losers, yet one loses over the long term and the other one wins over the long term! Can you understand now?
there's the winner for the 'system' |

He could part the Red Sea at the moment
|
|
By:
The next selection was a winner too but because there's no edge here he stopped when if he'd been backing selections because he knew, long term, he'd profit he'd have won more money
Everything is wrong with this yet people seem to think it's great.Let me put this to you.............if you have a crystal ball you may be able to tell what's going to happen if you don't the only way to win is find a way of beating the odds, you have to beat the odds and once you've found a way to beat the odds you need to bet as often as possible when the odds dictate, not stop because you've had a winner! |

thank you buzzer

When you are chasing/recovering stakes from previous bets commission becomes an even bigger factor than it already is! You'd need a massive edge (which you obviously wouldn't use chasing because you'd soon be rich anyway without upping stakes purely to recover previous losses) you end up placing £100 at 5-1 to effectively only win £100 and your stake has to be adjusted upwards to make your £100 after the larger commission is taken off!

I personally believe there is no one way to beat the book. I would suggest using a variety of methods combined together. I use something similar to the OP writer. The differences are that I wouldn't have 10 bets in one day using it, I use it on certain races only and I'll dip below the 3/1 rule he has set for his own selections. At the end of the day its all about about having confidence in ones own selections .It doesn't matter if you use level or adjusted staking, if you don't back winners on regular basis over a long-term period, then you won't make the game pay either way
|
|
By:
well thats me done for the day see you all soon
good luck with the rest of your bets |

Despite the "strategy" being questionable the first 7 day record reads well in as much as the OP has made his 100 a day, allowing for the doubt over the price on some of the winning selections qualifying, and the stronger doubt of whether he has actually wagered on any of them of course.
Backed to a level stake after commission his total selections show a profit of approx 40 points (19 winners from 65 selections) for the same 65 selections backed level stake to place after commission there is a profit of approx 20 points (39 places from 65 selections). All in all a decent effort and worth a well done from even the most cynical of us, would be nice to know though if its a scattergun approach (10 selections a day seems excessive to me) that has so far proven fortunate for him or whether any study has actually gone into making the selections. Would have thought that grading his selections and backing to level stake would have been the way to go if he had any real confidence in his picks, rather than backing chronologically and risking snowballing expenditure, but then if no money is being risked what does it matter...! Given the performance of the selections to date though, worth a check each day, until his luck runs out, to see how far the mythical bank can grow before the inevitable. |
|
By:
Cork Langer mythical bank Sounds like your a guesser IMO, unless you know the OP personally and have seen his betfair account.....Where does a mythical bank fit in with the OPs achievements to date?
|
|
By:
Hmmmm. Your defending of the OP is a little too vigorous IMO. Something tells me you and the OP are in fact the same person. I'm now thinking his bank and bets are completely mythical. I would suggest to be a little more selective and don't have as many bets in one day, when you do decide to commence with real money.
