soem stats just back up what you know to be true GT

and this thread is a prime example of this

don't do a martingale if by your own admission you can't pick enough winners to level stakes, it will not fix it and the bad runs will get you. that is as near as certain as you can get.

you may be able to make it work for a while and leave with a profit but in the long run you are doomed.

stridingedge, this type of thread will always receive multiple posts because it plots the statisticians against the chancers, the cynics against the believers, the wise against the gullible etc etc.
It is harmless enough if no one is taken in, but then again most would say if they are, then they deserve everything they get, or rather don't get, in this case.

What price would you pay?  One thing about this is that you can't spend an infinite amount of money.  So the practical value is only how much you would be willing to pay for a chance to win so many millions.  eg if you stopped the game when the pot got to £4m the right price would only be £11.50.

Message to a couple of ppl on here.The price he is using on these bets is at least 3-1 not exactly 3-1.And he certainly isn't actually betting ,it's all hyperthetical at the moment.He would have done his dough on the first day cos the said horse which "got him out of trouble" never traded at 3-1 or above,only traded higher the night before which he can't bet on as he wouldn't have known at that point that he would have had 8 losing bets.

imo it is wrong to refer to this type of staking as 'martingale'. The classic martingale as everyone knows is to double up on red or black until a winner.

With this type of BACK staking with a defined TARGET in mind and variable PRICES, it's something completely different

I can assure you I'm not jealous.i wish you well tbh.this is an old system which your portraying to be your  idea.You are not betting but you are posting what you would be betting if you were doing it for real,which of course is fine.if and when you do this for real ,you will find it very hard to get enuff money on to make up shortfall after 6 or 7 losers.as I say if you were doing it for real ,at the moment you would be in front.i enjoy this thread.
