Re showing the overround at the top of the screen, I agree most on-course punters wouldn't have a clue as I've previously stated, but I would have. (even though I can work it out myself) And don't forget, it was only a year or so back that channel 4 put up every overround when showing the racing. What a coincedence it stopped suddenly when the bookies were allowed to advertise on the said channel..... |

this e/w topic in filthy e/w races coms up time and time again.there IS no answer, it not viable to be e/w @ 1/5th, it not good pr to bet at worse terms, ive said before if strickly win only when the place terms are 100% or worse, i dont understand any other business that wants to "buy" for 20 quid an ounce and 2sell" for 16,its not possible to get wi and place terms to become relevant to oneanother, i dont know this 1/8th of the odds bookie but id guess even at an 8th none of us would want as share in the place book .as i say i cant see an answer to it and untill someones does ill stick to win only on Snide E.W RACES,its fkn hard enough to win after exes without betting overbroke,as for the CLOWN who think bookies should display the overound thats the most idiotic idea ive ever seen on here and ive sen some, there is no business whereyou show your "mark up" why the fk should we,bookies know that its probably less than 5% if you count exes in , anyone who wants to take on he world in novice hurdles @ ew 1/5th odd gets yourself a licence , buy a few pitches and get on with it , GOOD LUCK WITH THAT ...the existence of the exchanges has meant%s are a thing of the past.

,as for the CLOWN who think bookies should display the overound thats the most idiotic idea ive ever seen on here and ive sen som
What a shrewdie you must be. Can you or any other bookie tell me why channel 4 stopped showing the overround??????????????? |

By:
solw,
the place percentage at 1/8th was 116% . most book that bet each way bet to 1/5th where the place percentage was just a little under the break even point |
By:
the whole point is that by betting to such a good place percentage in his favour he then tops everyone on all horses over 8/1 with board prices of 19/2 , 13/1 , 19/1 , 30/1 , 45/1 , 70/1 etc.
punters can have it off by backing these win only but who does at these prices. ask todays course punters which is best ..£1 e.w. at 66/1 [ 1/5th odds ] or £1 e.w. at 70/1 [ 1/8th odds ]. the public decide it is the latter and the queue forms accordingly |

BLAH BLAH BLAH,WHY DO U ALL GET SO EXCITED OVER THIS JOCKEY WILSON CHARACHTER,FOR A STARTER,MAYBEE ONE RACE IN 15 ARE BAD EWAY RACES,THE BLOKE LIKE MOST IN THE RING IS A COMMISSION AGENT HE WONT LAY A BET STOOD NEXT TO HIM AT BEVERLEY AND OTHER COURSES U WOULDNT KNOW HE WAS THERE A TOTAL NON TRIER,I LOVE BETTING NEXT TO THE LIKES OF HIM NO CHANCE OF HIS HEAD APPEARING ABOVE THE PARAPIT A HUNDRED YEARS AGO HE WOULD HAVE BEEN SHOT AT DAWN. BET AT HEXHAM ON SUNDAY(INCLUDING DODGY EWAY RACES) STANDARD EWAY TERMS ALL DAY,BIGGER THAN THE MACHINE AS ALWAYS,COME RACING,SEE U IN THE SUN AT LUDLOW TOMORROW

facts, every person he rips off with his place terms that realises he has been had is one customer turned against betting with on course bookmakers. I understand the argument about the better win odds etc, but at the end of the day perception is what is important. Anyone who takes his bigger odds without studying his joint to find the 1/8th odds sign will feel they have been duped when they go and collect. Bad for the ring and bad for the racecourses.

WASNOT,IT AINT JUST JOCKEY WHO IS DRIVING PUNTERS AWAY FROM THE COURSES ITS THE SO CALLED BOOKMAKERS(MOST OF WHOM BET FROM GOOD POSITIONS)WHO HAVE AND ARE DOING THAT ALREADY.FOR EXAMPLE AND THIS IS ONLY IN THE LAST FIVE DAYS,ASKED A BOOKMAKER IN BANGOR TATTS FOR £100 ON A 7/4 WENT BACK TO MY JOINT 7/4 STILL ON HIS BOARD AND WAS TOLD I HAD NO BET SO I WENT 7/4 AND LAID IT AGAIN,THE SAME DAY I LAID A FRONT LINE BOOKMAKER 1800/300 I CANT GET A TENNER ON WITH HIM,WAS BETTING ON THE FIRST RACE AT HEXHAM GOING 2/5 THE FAV 1.37 ON THE MACHINE,THE BOOKMAKER NEXT TO ME WAS SHOUTING TAKE 1/4 AND WAS BETTING WIN ONLY,COULD WRITE A BOOK AND PROBABLY WILL.UNFORTUNATLY A LOT OF THE CURRENT CROP OF BOTH BETTING SHOP AND ONCOURSE BOOKMAKERS LEAVE A LOT TO BE DESIRED

I am surprised nobody has ever mentioned it, if betfair did away with the preferential commission terms for on course bookmakers that may make a slight difference suddenly the commission agents would be shown up as non triers straight away, more money may start to circulate about the ring again....... just a thought.
And Bookmakers are not important to Betfair's business model anymore so who knows. |
By:
very few are on betfair , though.
the RDT system that about 95% use is sponsored by **** who need every penny of business |

**** purple
By:
true adge but apply the same principal
By:
don't think rdt would want us to give up on purple.
By:
r u suggesting RDT get some form of kickback for running Betquack through their on-course software?
By:
why would they put it on for nothing? if you had choice you would have bf everytime.
By:
so why not bf then, the end consumer/customer would want bf over betquack everytime
By:
thetruth
why do you lay bookmakers who wont lay you |
By:
THERESOME,,YOUR QUITE RIGHT,I GENERALLY WILL NOT LAY A BOOKMAKER WHO WILL NOT LAY ME,BUT IN THIS CASE THE BOOK IN QUESTION HAD ALLEGEDLEY TAKEN A FOUR FIGURE SUM ON A 6/1 POKE AND BEING THAT THERE ISNT TWO BOB IN THE EXCHANGES HE WAS DESPERATE TO OFFLOAD IT IN THE RING,I LAID HIM THE BET AND NEEDLESS TO SAY NO GOOD DEED GOES UNPUNISHED IT DULY OBLIGED.
By:
facts if they dont lay you tell them to f... off
By:
I understand that the purple firm write the software program and updates for RDT.

Dynastic is currently 7.2 on the win market for the 7:40 at Kempton. But he's only 1.48 on the place market. I make that about 1/8 the odds a place.
The win market is 8/13, 3/1. 6.2/1 bar. 10 runners. Awful each way betting race for the fixed odds layers. Adge - I am interested to know what price you'd be looking to lay Dynastic if you were on track now ? If you were betting full-fat each way terms, I presume you'd be going something like 10/3...7/2 ? |
By:
would be 9/2 but not for too much risk, then 4/1.
would be hoping to lay the bigger one's each way. don't forget i also bet place only. we ignore the betfair place market totally |
By:
but mr wilson would be 5/1 and 1/8th odds and take all the each way money anyway
By:
Adge - Your place book would be pretty much overbroke at those prices ? I'm just wondering where the profitability comes from ?
I admire your principles but are you operating to keep punters happy ? |
By:
Black Sam, adge is a bit of a newbie. Bear with him.
