not all legal firms are reputable and working in law is no garuntee that they work fairly.

By:
bf_fananatic ...nothing surprises with No Win No fee firms who deal in Personal Injury.
We do not deal in Personal Injury ...only commercial litigation. As I said, you have to deal with reputable firms and unfortunately there are many rogue firms in the personal injury sector. |

how did the customer know he had the exposure ?
By:
if it got to a court case the customer would be forced to be outed...if he exists of course...betfair must be worried about this.
By:
Lots of greedy people looking to exploit what they absolutely knew was a clear error or system glitch when they placed the bets, imo...
By:
Please define 'clear error' Millhouse
On betfair there is no palpable error and all bets are caveat emptor EOFC |
By:
Shoreditch - you genuinely thought that the 29-1 available about a pre race 2-1 shot that was cruising to victory - an offer that was not cancelled even after said horse was eight lenghths clear after jumping the last - was a genuine bet, and not an error in the system of some sort..??
By:
You should be shot for even putting the bet on. you sign up to terms and conditions, therefore you abide by them.

millhouse
we all make mistakes in this game and the end result is we have to pay for them. |
By:
It's an error but that doesnt mean you don't get paid Millhouse as previously stated
"On betfair there is no such thing palpable error and all bets are caveat emptor" So whether you think it is an error or not doesn't ( or rather shouldn't) affect the price of fish. EOFC |
By:
people benefit from "clear errors" every day on betfair

they are the rules

look i have the legal expertise to take this on under the correct circumstances. Im trying to get on board the majority of people who were adversely affected by this so far i have accounted for about 1.5 million. Please email your details and i will reply with update>> this needs to be pursued in a constructive manner if only to achieve a fairer exchange for the future. email: billyboy5678@hotmail.com

early days yet ,,some dust to settle first .rules abound ,covering all eventualities .I am finding it hard to get my head round it at the moment ,appears their man to make another announcement later today . luckilly only play small nowadays, only a small bet on the race itself ,no problem for me ,I like yourself would have a rather sour taste in mouth if involved on this occassion .One thing for sure you had to have funds in place to register your bet.

vman2901 may be a good option for anyone affected but one note of caution without knowing if he is a qualified solicitor or not. If you enter any litigation you will want the satisfaction of knowing you have ATE insurance to cover betfair's costs in case the case is lost otherwise you will have to pay their costs if you lose.
You can only have a chance to get ATE insurance if the case is represented by a qualified solcitor. Our interest is not about people neccessarily using our service. If people want to contact us for help then great, if not then no problem. We wish all you the best of luck. |

Anyone remember the Lingfield Park 125 on the 21/1/11?
- Betty website froze mid-race - The winner Mashdood was backed down all rates to 1.01 - No other money was matched on any other runner - IR bets stood, Betty claiming NO users were able to access the site IR through any platform after the site froze. One question I've never been able to have answered: 1. Who backed the winner down to 1.01 and how? |
By:
does it not fall under contract law? the moment the money was matched, dose it become a contract.

Not necessarily. |
By:
its a little bit more complicated than that gordi. What im aiming to do is get the majority of the people who lost out on board and then pursue the necessary legal action which i dont want to elaborate on here but if people email me they will here by return. What i notice is that im getting a flood of replies when i post but as the post gets lost the replies stop so any help here would be appreciated. please email billyboy5678@hotmail.com if you are interested in constructively pursueing this

my concern would be how many of those affected, when it comes to the crunch will buckle at the thought of losing their betfair account, if not forever perhaps whilst the case is on-going.

I'm meeting next Weds at 4pm so will keep people posted then. As I said anyone with any questions they think need asking or anyone wanting to be involved please pm me.

I reckon you're probably right Duffy, massive in play punters would all have been piling in to this price and are they really going to risk permanent closure? IMO, anyone pursuing this is almost certainly declaring they don't expect to win long term.
This has been the best race I never watched. |

Duffy, in the unlikely event of Betfair having to pay out every 28-1 chancer, an equally probable scenario is no more Betfair, imho... |
By:
well we cant have that can we,lets just let them do as they please.
By:
Jimnast, of course Betfair are unlikely to be blameless, but that doesn't mean that people who knew perfectly well their bets were too good to be true should get to profit to this extent from someone's (probably honest) error, imho.
Every single one of us have made mistakes - the trick obviously is not to make them twice... |
By:
We have identified the issue and replicated it in a test environment last night. A fix was applied overnight, and is now subject to rigorous testing. A further update on this will be made today.
Meaning - We've now turned off all our in-running bots for a bit, just until the dust settles! |
By:
millhouse, why is everyone who took the 29's a greedy cheating chancer trying to exploit something. That 29 went up early in the race not a furlong out, what do you expect people to do it's a betting exchange where mistakes and stupid offers go up everyday not a WI meeting. I've accepted I won't get paid out but I've made enough fat finger errors on here and paid up so I'm not going sit back when someone else does.
By:
many many many too good to be true bets matched on here through error or whatever reason, and are paid with not so much as a shrug of the shoulders, the only difference here is the shear magnitude of the numbers involved, personally I doubt whether the high court would accept that as a reason for voiding, given Bettys track record regarding "errors" in the past.
By:
Millhouse you are at it again.Every minute of every day someone makes a mistake on this site. And pays. The only difference here is a decimal point !! What about those who layed 30 how come they get a refund ?
By:
homefortea, because they were bots also, and must be protected

I agree with Millhouse. No bookmaker would pay, and betfair's lawyers have a clause in the rules absolving themselves of liability. Nor shouldthe bet be paid imo.
