Backed Cue Card last year for this when he was in better form. I don't think he'll be winning this, hopefully they can find a race for him at Cheltenham other than the Gold Cup (unless it's very good ground)

lots of imponderables...pace is a key in this race for me and that is also against the fever horse at the end of the day, cue card will lead but champagne also wants to be on the speed so a duel may ensue...silvi conti didn't let cue card out of his sight last year but that won't be so easy this time and he may have to take a lead off the prominent runners...this may play into his hands (stamina wise) but also makes the race less easy for him this time around, as he will have to jump from in behind...a very tricky affair imo and as much as i think the ground is key to the advantage or disadvantage of silvi conti chances, the race evolves around it because if it is good ground he may get taken out of his comfort zone speed wise and kempton takes no prisoners

i still hold the utmost respect for cue card and have backed him at the generous odds, al ferof a horrible piece of work betting wise for me if ever there was one, ran a career best at ascot and if he can back up and get into some sort of rhythm which he didn't last year he has the class to really go well and is the right price...menorah has improved massively this year and has now backed up 2 runs if you buy into it which i don't by the way but if you do believe it he has to go well on a track he likes...dynaste i can't fathom form wise and the ryannair fell in his lap last year, he has good course form but doesn't appeal for me

the ground will be key in anyone's assessment but obviously we won't know that till the day

Been holding onto this opinion for about a week now but if the market is anything to go by then Simonsig is a runner in this! The next Binocular style affairConfused
Wish i got some of the 100s, always try to secure a couple quid on these sorts of things Devil

unapealing race ante post and just cant get excited about it ,ante post betting has died a death and no wonder.

weather complete unknown and must be a chance of extreme going or frost .

keep my powder dry and may not even bother with the race this year .

still enjoy it but tbh the christmas kempton meeting is way over rated imo . Trappy shoite

I could not disagree more. The KG always pays my Xmas bills through antepost punting. It is only before the betfair chs really that this race is a guessing game ap wise. The easiest of the season to build a no lose win and place book. And it often cuts up, looking unlikely there to be more than 10 runners again this year and i bet you will be able to put a line through 4 of them immediately!

If this turns into a heavy ground slog which is a possibility, apart from conti who else would actually benefit for it being heavy even if it's only the fact they act on it rather then they want it and the others may not?

I agree re the A/P book, I reckon the spread on runners turning up would be about 8-9 at the moment.

I hope Simonsig does turn up too, I took the last £5 on at 100/1 on here, layed off at 20's, so maybe a Xmas bonus. Though I'm not sure Nicky Henderson will let him go for it first time out, we'll see???

I don't as probably anyone else on here understand your latest post breadnbutter but never mind Plain

If your referring to my punting and backing most runners, I will just let you sweat on your single selection and the books take your money (which would happen most of the time) and I will relax, watch the race and only worry about which 1-2-3 are going to give me my Xmas money Wink as my book is 66% and fully green Cool

I haven't seen them yet cos there I still over 30 in betting. Will know on final decs. What I mean is we know the top 6 or 7 that will compete, what we don't know are which rags are going to try to compete for the prize money if any. As prize is down to 6th in this race there is often one or two. It was these these I was referring to.

Maybe ask STS how many he backed so far? Maybe 4 or 5 so far, then maybe 2 or 3 on day and he still makes money! Its all about the book though,if Conti wins your tenner at 4/1 what is your overall loss on race?
By:

Maybe alleged but he was trading fav for it last year before being pulled out of it and fav again this season before the latest injury. His form is right up there with the best around (albeit a season ago) and if lining up wont be know where remotely close to the 8/1 currently on offer nrnb!

Well his form is certainly not up with the best around at 3m,and he aint beaten much in his chases thus far anyway.
Hes possibly a real class act,but equally he may not be.
First time out after a long break with setbacks and first time over 3m........no thanks.

personally i probably won't be backing simonsig because of the long lay off but still respect him form wise

however a question just out of interest wicketd and alleged22 what has champagne fever achieved (in comparison) more over fences in a comparison with simonsig, lets say on simonsig's kempton win?? wicketd you joke but the time was perfectly acceptable that day??

i think simonsig didn't give his running in the arkle and still won, before that he had looked a monster on all known form, he certainly shouldn't be talked of like a mug horse, that is for sure

I have the utmost respect for simonsig harry, with regards CF id say in his build up to the arkle he raced in better races against better opposition than simonsig did in his arkle season, CF  has since come out and won against decent oppo this year, whereas simonsig is yet to be sighted 18 months after his arkle

I thought the very fact he was favorite for this before a twig had been jumped and was also fav for this last season before his injury is telling and may prove 8/1 to be a decent price. The 8/1 at this stage is about right though he wont be no bigger than 11/2 imo to start. So with nrnb he had to be included.
By:
Wicketd
When: 13 Dec 14 12:24
harry yes i do respect him but i dont see him as the horse to win the KG. i dont like that every one of his wins have basically been on the bridle as you need toughness to win a KG. yes he came under pressure in the arkle but his pure ability (and admittedly not at his best) made sure that BG couldn't draw level or go past, but he's not exactly a brilliant horse anyway.

then there's the fact that he's been off injured and has had a very doubtful prep leading up to this.

i was a big simsonsig fan but purely in terms of winning the KG, i'd want at least 25/1.
By:
Wicketd
When: 13 Dec 14 12:25
i think if he runs he'll be pulled up and out for season, or pulled up and aimed at ascot chase/ryanair.
