its been on here previous years? Aiden has the first 4 in the betting ... which one though? I personally like JF K- scope for improvement on last run.

Well the boys from Ballydoyle will be winning it again make no mistake. I'm going to have a few bob on Ol man River. 35/1 to small money. Regally bred and looked an absolute smasher in the sales ring at Goffs. Let's hope he takes his maiden on Sunday and then on to better things

JFK performance on Saturday looked like he would improve for a step up in trip, he only really stamped his class on the race in the last furlong and then was a fairly easy winner. The problem this year is that he currently has an embarrasment of riches and it's not clear that they know which one is the best yet. When I last looked they had the top in the betting for Epsom next year plus the 6th in. Ol' man river did look really interesting on his debut considering a disrupted passage.

I think you are right Fallen Angel. He looked like 1 Mile was his bare minimum for me and we saw in Tapestry who is bred on the same lines that the further she went the better. Interesting that they chose Gleneagles for the National Stakes instead of JFK which puts me off JFK for the Guineas. We all seem to be forgetting Highland Reel who I thought looked really smart at Goodwood and could be better than any of them.

By:
Yeah its an incredibly difficult year for an AP punter with Ballydoyle dominating more than ever before in the classics. I have had a speculative few quid on Gleneagles for the Guineas and that's it so far although the clock rarely lies and the time of the race was fairly mediocre. Sir Isaac Newton is only 25/1 for the derby and hasn't even seen the track yet
. I agree it could be that Highland Reel is the best of the lot, that Goodwood performance looked v impressive. |

Hope to see Ol Man River do the biz tomorrow and cement his place near the top of the Derby market. The market seems to think that it's a foregone conclusion tomorrow but his stablemate will be a good barometer of where he is at. A useful animal in it's own right.
By:
Ol' Man River looks a proper Derby horse. as does JFK. Gleneagles for me, more a Guineas type.
wouldn't touch the Guineas though, too open. Expect another Ballydoyle Derby winner. Their dominance is incredible. |
By:
Though something by StS could definitely get in the picture for another trainer / owner .. he's a bit of a game changer in terms of the Galileos dominating.
By:
Galileos / Montjeus ... obv
By:
Do I like that performance. All steam ahead and looks like 1m 4f will be well up his street.
By:
Proper horse. Looked fantastic.
By:
Yes he looks very much like a real Derby horse to me. A bit surprised he is as long in the market as he is. I would have thought he was something like a 5 or 6 /1 shot myslef.
By:
Would not want to be on anything else for the Derby but this fella. I thought that was a real top class performance. Settled like a dream and a great turn of speed to put the race to bed. Think this is the next Ballydoyle superstar.

Fill yer boots mate.
By:
erm..what has he beaten today?
By:
Ol' man River, very impressive win in the Beresford stakes this afternoon, traveled smoothly, and quickened in a most impressive fashion,
I think this fella more than quick enough for a guineas,I like him,I think he is Ballydoyles best at this stage, showing significant improvement has did many in the Beresford today, figure in the region of 115 which will look large to many but probably worth a few more pound, the only negative would be he did get a little warm, but plenty more positives than negatives, and head and neck movement looks great,a deserving Derby Fav and could be shorter for the guineas. |
By:
stamina? dam was a miler with a pedigree all speed
By:
I thought the turn of foot excellent today,I would be interested in guineas at this stage.
By:
AOB dominates this market as usual, and dominates the irish 2yo group races too.
Nothing much over here in England to push forward so far with the exception of CHRISTOPHERMARLOWE (John Gosden) at 33/1, having an Epson sighter today, bred to get the Derby trip, a real galloper and has only got going right at the end of his two races so far. Love to see him in a 10F trail early next year. |
By:
I gotta feeling we will be watching many from abroad next year.
By:
By:
I remember a lot of people crabbing Camelot after winning his egg and spoon maiden. Sometimes it's not what you beat but how you do it. I honestly believe this will win next years Derby.
By:
but still...what has he beaten today?
By:
he beat Tombelaine 4.25L who was within 3.5L of JFK ...
By:
The same Tombelaine who got to within .75L of Gleneagles before the latter won the National Stakes ... he's a very good yardstick
By:
oh yes, a significant form pointer, Jfk looks a bit of a bull dog to me(he sweats quite bad also)
By:
and though it's lot more noisy .. beat Highland Reel on debut who tore up the Vintage Stakes ...
By:
jesus .. you guys want to lay him ??
By:
I'll put up €200 at 11.5/1 for next year's Derby
By:
so ....
By:
everybody entitlrd
By:
everybody entitled to an opinion and obviously certain people on here are not that impressed. I was and thought his performance was top draw and could have won by a few more lengths if required. Hope he doesn't run again this year and is saved for next year. Already looks like a thorough professional to me and has done his job at two. Have not seen anything else in England or France that would frighten me and it's just a case imo if he's better than JFK and Highland Reel. I think he is.
By:
ok - I'm taking down the offer as there is traffic in front building up - but anyone who wants to lay him, PM me
By:
JFK is still well ahead in the pecking order, for me.
By:
Not for me,I think jfk could be a disappointing sort next year, looks well developed and forward enough,we may see him at Chester ,lingfield?
By:
JFK May Foal and is almost 2 months younger than OMR. I think that's quite significant. Not that keen on his head carriage last time out but concede he could be anything. Just thought OMR looked the more professional of the two.
By:
OMR got that sea horse look about him, looks grand, but being a montjeu we will always be as little bit nervous for any sign of temperament, but no sign of that today,it was a bloody good performance to the eye, handicapping the race difficult,we are allotting significant improvement to others in the region of 22lb+ which is never easy to justify, but hey,all were unexposed, and they did turn up for what history dictates is a decent race.
By:
He looked a bit jiggy before going in the stalls today but in the race itself settled beautifully. When he was sold in the ring at Goffs he really handled it well also. Can't see his temperament being a problem at this stage. Hope he gets a Derby preparation next year.
By:
He did sweat up quite a bit and was definitely on his toes at the start - I suppose that was when he came back out from 1.47 to 1.6 .. not that I was doing anything other than watching the antepost bet I had on.
