Ah yes you do. Fair enough.

By:
He's had a mid season break which eludes to an autumn campaign IMO. And while nothing has been confirmed AOB has recently suggested he may run in the Arc or Champion stakes.
By:
Ok cool.
I disagree . Think they have just been waiting for the Leger and there have been no suitable races in between. What price you have? |
By:
9/2 which I think is pretty much available now. I think they would be very silly not to run if he wins easily tomorrow. Better chance winning the Arc this year than next.
By:
Yes true. And I read there is an extra weeks gap between the Leger and the Arc this year so seems feasible.

They won't take on Frankel with him.

ROOBUCK, I refer you to page 4 of the Cambridgeshire thread, 06Sep12 12.54 Wish I'd waited for the paper before the CES bet....feel a bit of an idiot tbh.
You horned in on an argument between the HEADBANGER and me and I told you to eff off and keep your nose out, so laugh that one off. At least HEADBANGER has enough sense to keep out of my way, PETE THE BLOKE, why do people have to use masculine nom de plumes is it a huge inferiority complex? Pokes his nose in and thinks he knows all about horses and horse racing, but didn't know when a filly became a mare, now he knows but not a single word of thanks for the info, typical of ALL know alls. |
By:
Grow up and get a life!
By:
I have said my piece and proved that ROOBUCK is a liar, I rest my case.
By:
This is really amusing me. OK I referred a bet, no horse mentioned, but it was in relation to the topic being discussed at the time. Calling me a liar is I would suggest a little strong but if it makes your pitiful little mind feel better then so be it.
And by the way you have only put it on 2 threads so far, plenty more to add it to. I won't bother posting any more on this thread as I want the discussion to be about the race so apologies for my part in taking it off track. |
By:
I use this as a pointer for those who believe in trends, a few years ago
D. NICHOLLS trained FUNFARE WANE to win the AYR gold cup as a 3yo, after that win the horse went off the boil, but came back to win the AYR gold cup as a 5yo, if anyone would care to re-view his form then they would see that NOT to back him to win the second would have have been gross idiocy, please study ALL the horses he beat or was beaten by, one went to America and won about 7 or 8 group ones there, the horse he beat as a 3yo won many group sprints and was the best trial tackle at any time in fairly recent history. To get to my real point, DANEDREAM won the ARC as a 3yo and tries again on the 7th of October, since that ARC win there have been 12 group one winners, so there is no need to look elsewhere for the winner, the fact that she has not broken any records, which she did in the ARC, does not matter one jot, the trainer has done a great job and she has NEVER been knocked about, I only fear ONE horse and that is ORFEVRE, but my reasons I will explain about 10 minutes before the race. Those group one winners were behind her in the ARC, but at least 2 were her wins in group ones. |
By:
Must apologise the horse in America won only 4 group ones a group two and a group3. MINESHAFT was the name of that one, should have checked before posting.

calm down ladies ! he said ..she said!
We have a great days racing to look forward to tomorrow at Longchamp so I'm concentrating on the Vermeille , even though i probably shouldn't by the race looking somewhat like a minefield. I'm such a massive fan of this Sarah lynx that Ive got to have an interest on her tomorrow ...even though not actually confident of the race being the main target. I just think shes the horse with the best form. More of a watching day tomorrow...just to keep an eye of proceedings.. GL all if your steaming into something |
By:
RK - as I mentioned a few days ago, you can't help but be impressed by Sarah Lynx's form of the Canadian International, but have you any theories what's gone on since?
I've rowed in with a few quid for the Arc at the big prices NOW, just in case she can return to form tomorrow, because as you say, she's arguably got the best single piece of form, but I'm not so hopeful. I do think it's a brave man that's laid this beast at the huge odds, especially as her wellbeing seems assured - I can't help but think just how much more do other people know than someone in the dark like me ![]() PS - over the years I've seen similar types that can do little right in Europe, but the different demands of US racing & the travelling seems to light them up...at the prices though, it's not gonna take much of an outlay to get a decent return. PPS - my theory about Princess Highway being favourite (despite being much longer for the Arc than a few other fillies in the race) was on the ball for a change, as she's been installed 11/4 fav, with Shareta & Galikova both at 4/1 - it's a mouth-watering day for us tomorrow ![]() |
By:
I'LL GIVE YOU A THEORY ON WHATS GONE ON SINCE.
THEY HAVE BEEN TAKING THE PISS! (sorry capitals) not such a theory, more like how some trainers operate...simple fact. |
By:
Ofreve backers must be happy now, tmrw should be interesting...

A nice cruise around for Soummy tomorrow, get the monster familiar with Longchamp and then in a few weeks time win the big one!
Orfevre has nothing to fear from the 3 year old brigade and that was summed up with the St Leger result, an average bunch both sides of the channel IMO. Still feel Danedream and Meandre are the ones to fear, should be a cracking days racing at Longchamp. Shame I'm going to miss it all, no French racing in storm ridden Zante! ![]() |
By:
Predicted weeks ago that Orfevre would be favourite on Arc day! Should be outright fav tomorrow!!!

Last Train could be the last hope of the 3yr olds,Fabre taking a tried and tested route with him, would prob need to win tmrw though
By:
Last Train has got to improve a fair bit to trouble the older horses, Main Sequence should have won the GPDP but has run two average races since so I wouldn't be confident if I was a backer. The only positives are the trainer and his record in the Arc but I think he might have his work cut out with this one. Meandre has got to be Mr Fabre's best chance of another Arc win, I'm getting excited about tomorrows match up in the Prix Foy.
I think a few of us over the last 4 to 6 months have been banging the Orfevre drum and 16-1 was a laughable price, if he performs how he should tomorrow and wins, the PMU will have to batten down the hatches on Arc day. The Japanese will be coming. |
By:
I foolishly said a few weeks ago that I didn't consider the 16's for Orfevre to be great value like some of you did, even though I was well aware of his brilliance - by the same token I did say I was shít scared of laying him but at the price he is now, I've just had to - he could well half in price by this time tomorrow but a disappointing show will see him lengthen dramatically!
Really looking forward to seeing this colt in very much the same way I was with Black Caviar, and I hope he confirms the immense promise he's already shown. Also, is there still a chance that Golden Lilac could make the gig for Fabre? I see she wasn't even considered for the Vermeilles, and I heard a while ago that he intended her first shot at 12f this year was gonna be the Arc, because of stamina concerns - nevertheless, she's been bitterly disappointing recently. |
By:
Fabre was reported to be very pleased with Last Train about a month ago with the Niel the target,if LT wins tmrw Fabre will have an idea where he stands having run Meandre v Ofreve, oddly enough the small field could be Meandre's favour
By:
GL has been retired Navel!
By:
If Last Train had won the GPDP like his dad did then I would have been more inclined to thinking the same way as you Mr S but the more I watched that race Main Sequence should have won it really. The form doesn't look good to me but Fabre does have that magic touch so you never know.
By:
Mr.D - I can't say I'm surprised to hear that but I hadn't heard anything about it.
The surprising thing about her is that it's never a shock to see 4yo fillies under-perform, but her seasonal debut was excellent! Usually they disappoint early, then sometimes recover form as the season goes on - Habibti & Indian Skimmer are notable examples of that. |
By:
MrD if LT was trained by anyone other than Fabre I wouldnt give him a seconds thought, remains to be seen what he does tmrw
By:
It was reported on the RP website today about Golden Lilac being retired Naval. I don't know how GL won that race at Longchamp, she pulled like a train but still managed to finish it off. Very good filly on her day but seemed to fall out of love with racing, I was surprised to see her race as a 4 year old to be honest.
By:
Yes Mr S, you have always got to respect Fabre and the Prix Niel is another intriguing race on the Longchamp card. I'm just peed off I'm going to miss it all!!!
By:
Pity about Golden Lilac...I had a nice £3K green against her name in my Arc book
![]() I kept the faith because Fabre is not the sort to exaggerate, and he spoke so highly of her...I just thought he would work the Oracle and get her to settle - I thought that was the reason he dropped her to a mile, and as you say, she seemed to fall out of love with the game. |
By:
MR DINOS, where is ZANTE and could you not view via this site, presuming they show the videos during racing?
By:
It's a Greek island Baz, I'm in a villa with no broadband or Sky tv and the 3G isn't great either. I will just have to keep up to date on here and the other racing websites. I should have planned my holiday better so I've only got myself to blame.
By:
Oh dear my Camelot idea doesn't seem to have been a very clever one. Saying that I think he should have been much closer to winning today without a pretty average ride. Maybe he could still run but hope Last Train does me a favour now!

Sea Moon is going to run in Canada next apparently. Didn't see that coming.

Orfevre becomes the latest Japanese star to embark on the route towards the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe with an outing in one of the trials at Longchamp this Sunday.
Sky Bet With the help of his pacemaker Aventino, last year's Japanese Triple Crown winner tackles Andre Fabre's triple Group One winner Meandre in the Prix Foy. The Far Eastern racing nation have developed a keen interest in attempting to claim Europe's great prize, from when El Condor Pasa took the Foy and then finished second in the 1999 Arc. Others like the legendary Deep Impact and Nakayama Festa have tried and narrowly failed, but hopes are high for the ebullient chestnut Orfevre, who concluded his preparation under big-race rider Christophe Soumillon in a piece of work this week at Chantilly's Les Aigles gallops. Trainer Yasutoshi Ikee said: "Christophe Soumillon said that the horse had more speed and showed better movement than a week before. "I am sure that Christophe and Orfevre are getting along well together, it's his first time at Longchamp but I hope he can handle it in a good manner." Soumillon said: "I have watched his past performances and my impression of him has been even improved after the track work. He is definitely a first-class horse. "Even though our main objective is to win the Arc three weeks later, I want to win the Prix Foy without making too much effort." Two British raiders, Princess of Wales's Stakes winner Fiorente and Joshua Tree, recently brought across the Channel to land the Prix Kergorlay by Marco Botti, complete the line-up. Freddie Head's Galikova faces a stiff challenge in her attempt to win the Prix Vermeille for a second year in a row. A half-sister to her trainer's marvellous Goldikova, Galikova has the beating of recent Yorkshire Oaks winner Shareta and Sarah Lynx on the form from 12 months ago, but entering the equation here is Dermot Weld's Princess Highway, who stormed away with the Ribblesdale Stakes and finished third in the Irish Oaks. Although Irish Oaks winner Great Heavens was not declared among the 13 runners, there is impressive German Oaks winner Salomina, who represents the trainer of 2011 Arc heroine Danedream in Peter Schiergen and other improving three-year-olds like Yellow And Green and Romantica. Galikova was ahead of Danedream but behind Meandre and Shareta on her comeback in the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud and not disgraced on her other run when beaten just a length and a quarter by Snow Fairy in the Prix Jean Romanet at Deauville. "It's a very, very good race but I am very happy with her and I am expecting a good run," said Head. "I think she has come on a bit since the last race, which was a re-entry after a break." The three-year-old's trial, the Prix Niel, sees Alain de Royer-Dupre's Secretariat Stakes winner Bayrir tackling Andre Fabre's narrow Grand Prix de Paris runner-up Last Train and the highly-rated Kesampour, who lost his unbeaten record in a messy French Derby and has not been seen since. Kesampour is trained by Mikel Delzangles, who said: "He was a bit sick in July, he had sinus problems, but he has been very well since then and has been working well. "He's in good condition and I would say that if he runs well on Sunday, then he could go for the Arc. |

Blimey, MR DINOS how the other half live, never been out of the British isles
and my pension is not great, when I gave an approximation someone on here didn't believe how little it is, but then I will be considered by some as a scrounger, strange ideas some people have, anyway best of luck if you believe in luck I don't. |
By:
Cheers Baz, I wish I stayed in GB the weather here is piss poor at the moment!
Hopefully Orfevre cruises to a nice comfy win tomorrow with Soummy having a look around. I bet your winnings top up your pension nicely Baz! |

Have been able to find winners ever since I started in 1953, hardest part was hanging on the winnings, but age has brought wisdom so there is some good to come out of it.
I believe that I have a unique way of solving racing puzzles, at least my friend tells me that he could never have thought of that when I relate my thoughts to him, we have a syndicate and we are well in front. |
