Thanks RK - where is that 'confirmation' online?
Very strange, as there's been renewed money for Sea Moon at a more 'normal' price (32 last matched) whereas a day or two ago, he was on the drift, and touched 75 on here ![]() ![]() PS - Imperial Monarch a probable? ![]() Also, I though Gatewood was Melbourne Cup bound? This game gets harder by the day! |

Rozel, I posted yesterday evening about Sea Moon on this thread. It was reported in the Racing Post yesterday which I bought for the first time in a long time.

Just spent a couple of hours looking for some visual clues from their last runs.
This Andre Fabre Monsun Colt "Masterstroke" looked very impressive on its last win. There could be a masterstroke form line that could be boosted today if Remus De La Tour wins the Niel , Remus's price of 20/1 is probably to bigger a price given its beaten Masterstroke in June and Masterstroke's impressive performances recently. just a line to keep an eye on. |
|
By:
actually , Masterstroke Arc price of 32/1 is probably too big.
Its win at Deauville that day was very cheeky. if you want to watch click link and move to 35m 25s http://www.racinguk.com/video/watch/planet-turf-august-2012 all of the french races are on there from August |

We have had some posters on here, crabbing DANEDREAM, expecting her
to win every time she runs and because she hasn't broken records then she must be regressing, yet those same people are lauding horses like FRANKEL and CAMELOT, both good horses and one remains unbeaten, but neither have broken ANY course records. |
|
By:
agree Bazzar,
The form of Danedream with regards to what is in black and white speaks for itself. That Arc win by Danedream is the best performance ive seen since Harbinger winning the King George and its been proven by the 6 runners behind him that day coming out and winning Group 1 since. punters sometimes forget the basic facts when it comes to pure performance of a horse and how to rate it against its peers. If it was guaranteed that Dandream would be run on her merits and is being made 100% fit for the race then she 100% certain that she has to get placed in the Arc solely based on capability, i would be in no way surprised if she wins back to back Arcs if this is the case. However, as we are not going to get 90/1 and 48/1 like we did last year i can only contemplate of having a value saver on danedream with regards to making a book on the race. this is why i love the Arc, im sure a lot of us Arc fans can make a very good book on the race and guarantee profit each year. Its been quite easy to make a good book at this stage. Main Bet :Orfevre 19/1, 20/1, 22/1 Savers to get stakes back: Danedream 6/1,Nathaniel 7/1 Outsider: Sarah Lynx 1000/1 Just had my last bet on the race too.. I've just had 100 on Masterstroke too at 32/1, I'm completely guessing on this one , going solely on visual clues from its last run. |
|
By:
Bazz, you dont really believe Danedream has never been knocked about do you? You dont win all the races she has without having a tough race and having to battle for it, both her and the jockey.
|
|
By:
Sintonian, of course she was not knocked about in her races, THIS SEASON.
Last season although the trainer knew he had a good horse, he was not sure, hence no entry in May for ARC, it was BADEN-BADEN that was clincher wher she finished 13 lengths in front of a horse that had won the Canadian international, from a previous winner of that race, this after a rout at HOPPEGARTEN. Only one poor ride from STARKE in Japan cup, but he was in unknown territory, he would ride the course better now. NOW DO YOU BELIEVE that her 4th behind MEANDRE was true form, because I don't? |
|
By:
Ideal prep for Orvefre as others have said. The form is meaningless but he travelled, quickened and won importantly not having a hard race. Also it was obvious Soumillon was letting the horse get used to the track by going inside and out for the first mile - we will see whether he is good enough now on the big day.
|
|
By:
Ok you mean this season. Last season she had a couple of tough races, the RP in-running comments for the race at Cappanelle are enlightening.
Good trial for Orfevre. Should improve and needs to. |
|
By:
Sorry about that SINTONIAN, it is a failing of mine ever since childhood,
I know what I mean but have not made it clear to the listener, but maybe you think along the same lines now? She had an easy first time out, never knocked about behind MEANDRE AND Jockey caught out at ASCOT never met rising ground before, but still not knocked about, same in last race. |
|
By:
At the time I was disappointed with her first run in France this year but it turns out it was quite clearly not her running, or even a prep, and i'd agree the jockey was easy on her.

I remember GODOLPHIN running SWAIN in Coronation cup and him being beaten by
SILVER PATRIARCH and couldn't believe it, but the Epsom race was worth about £160,000 to the winner, with the KING GEORGE worth £400,000 to the winner just over a month down the road, they still picked up place money at Epsom. |

Was impressed with Saonois ,quickened up nicely once the gap appeared, always a potent weapon to have

Did I imagine the French Derby winner trotting up in a key trial despite everything going wrong, because you guys don't appear to have bothered to mention it?

Yeah you imagined it.

Trainer of Saonois has confirmed they will supplement for £100k cost

That's 13 group 1 winners since last years ARC.

Shareta clearly improved a lot from last season. But has she improved enough to make up the ground on Danedream?
|
|
By:
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

Liked orfevre's performance. He looked pretty fit pre-race. Travelled well ,cornered great showed a good turn of foot then cocked
his left ear to one side checking the others out once hitting the front. Classy effort. Against that he clocked a 25 length slower time than shareta and will face a very different test in the ARc. Although he won once with cut in the ground he looks like he's better on top of the ground. Not sure what his true price for the Arc is at this stage, 5/1 maybe right and would want 7/1 plus to consider backing him at this stage. If he picks up a decent draw and the grounds decent this then will alter his price. Have shown no great judgement in this race before so am a bit tentative but reckon Orfevre is going to put up a big performance. |
|
By:
Just a little pointer, SHARETA covered the same distance as ORFEVRE, SAONOIS
all carrying 9st 2lbs, 5 1/5 seconds faster than ORFEVRE and 6 1/4 seconds faster than SAONOIS. |
|
By:
The market dont seem to think thats very significant, but thanks for the pointer.

ORFEVRE a dawdle with arrogant jockey on board, SAONOIS jockey no experienced and wondering was Derby a fluke, but will still be overrated for that run, ORFEVRE WILL improve.

By:
The slow pace of the Prix Foy wouldn't have suited Orfevre at all but his pace maker made it a slow race for a reason and that was not to give Orfevre a hard race. The race was used to take the fizz out of him before the big one but he still managed to show a good turn of foot and quickened up well from last to first. Perfect prep and just what I hoped for.
His trainer knows what it takes to win an Arc and I have every confidence he will get the monster cherry ripe on the day to show his real capabilities. The more runners the better because from all the races I've seen him run in he looks as if he thrives on that kind of racing. I agree I wouldn't like to see really soft ground but I would be more than happy if conditions were like today. I never take timings of the French trial races seriously, the Prix Vermeille was a proper G1 race with a bigger field so the pace was always going to be stronger and more of an actual race. Another good performance from Shareta which gives more strength to the older generation winning debate. |
|
By:
Yep it was no surprise the Vermeille was quicker. Big field and plenty of pace. The other two races had an odds-on fav in each one.
Looks of pondering to do imo. Galikova didn't get the clearest passage when she wanted but was no match for the winner, and there were a couple of eye catchers in that race in 4th and 2nd. Doubtful if she runs now I suspect. |
|
By:
Yellow and Green is one to keep an eye on Sint, Nicolas Clement rates this filly highly and they thought she would run a big race today. I was going to back her each way but the draw (13) really put me off. I didn't see the race but it's good to know she ran well, one to remember for future races!

I know he's not entered (supplementary stage to come) but does anyone think it's worth Encke having a shot at the Arc?
And for that matter Noble Mission as well? I don't know what plans Henry has for that colt as he did have an entry in the Niel, but not in the Arc - why would a trainer bother with the trial and have no intention of the big one itself? I bet connections regret withdrawing from the Leger. |
|
By:
PETE THE BLOKE your question was answered yesterday, of course it was NO.
|
|
By:
The fact that the time was so slow makes it all the more impressive. He was able to give them 5-6 lengths in a 500m dash home and beat them cosily. Most impressive. If he gets a hot pace in the Arc which is likely its all over...
|
|
By:
His current price is 9/2 generally. How much do you think the J A Panese will shovel on? Could be a 2/1 favourite ..

"ORFEVRE a dawdle with arrogant jockey on board, SAONOIS jockey no experienced and wondering was Derby a fluke, but will still be overrated for that run, ORFEVRE WILL improve."
Sorry, but that is an utterly clueless comment I respect the Orfevre fan club on here, but the trial yesterday showed only his well-being. What would Shareta or Saonois have done to the Joshua Tree? Better Japanese horses have come and lost (Deep Impact certainly, arguably Nakayama Festa)to less than stellar European horses. Rail Link was one of my biggest winners, but was no superstar.Orfevre has a chance, but 12s would be closer to it. |
