UP - 14/1? Shocked

If he made the gig, I wouldn't mind 'unloading' and laying the balls of the creature at that price! Grin

It's a possibility I suppose though nobody's biting on the 1000 that's still there, but a positive sign he's fit & well.
If Camelot's withdrawn and there's soft ground, it would be very tempting for connections to supplement.

I do not envy you guys who do a book on here for the race, must have been absolute carnage the last few days and I sense a few more suprises to come at both supp and dec stage.

As the race has cut up so much I hope that there are not some rags added by incredibly rich owners that might make the actual race even more messy

Twitter is saying AOB just gave an interview to RTE and he was positive about Camelot running, provided he comes through his work ok tomorrow.

Roo - I'm just glad I can still get out of this mess with a profit if & when I need to adjust, though I was expecting a decent wedge from whoever won!

I think we now know just why the French have those consecutive days' entry stages...that was some portent! Surprised

It's been very stressful and costly Sad

Wonder if ED DUNLOP regrets withdrawing TETOSTERONE, would have to RE-SUPPLEMENT her now after having been in the original MAY entries, one of the few to have beaten DANEDREAM.

Some bookmakers are returning ALL ante post bets on DANEDREAM, because of the unusual circumstances.
Will BETFAIR be doing the same?

Bazzar - were you on Danedream at the bookies or on here?

It's damned unfortunate, but you can't realistically be expecting anything from Betfair can you?

I thought they might have cancelled all trades after the news of the decision, but they didn't...that cost me Sad

Both NAVEL, as I am with ORFEVRE, sometimes on here the book is better, and multi bets are not catered for on here, when ORFEVRE was being laid at 16/1 it was less on here and subject to a 5 pence in the £ deduction.
Only in the last ten days or so has the price been better on here, than the bookies.

O'Brien 'strongly' considering Camelot Arc run

02/10/2012 - 18:24:02
http://www.breakingnews.ie/sport/racing/obrien-strongly-considering-camelot-arc-run-569110.html

Camelot faces a crucial workout on Wednesday morning as trainer Aidan O’Brien insists he is looking “very strongly” at running his Classic hero in Sunday’s Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.

The colt won the 2000 Guineas, Derby and Irish Derby earlier in the year only to have his Triple Crown bid scuppered by Godolphin’s Encke in the St Leger at Doncaster last month.

A crack at the Longchamp feature looked unlikely in the aftermath of that defeat, but O’Brien is now giving serious thought to the 12-furlong autumn showpiece.

Camelot has been ridden by Joseph O’Brien on each of his six starts to date but the jockey will not be able to make the required weight in France and is set to partner older stablemate St Nicholas Abbey instead.

O’Brien has yet to consider possible replacements aboard Camelot, with the Ballydoyle handler keen to see how the Montjeu colt fares in his work first.

“Obviously we’re looking at it (the Arc) very strongly with the two big horses, Camelot and St Nicholas Abbey,” he told RTE Radio.

“Both of them are doing a little bit in the morning and if they come through that well, I think everybody will sit down and have a chat about it tomorrow afternoon and we’ll see what we’re going to do.

“It would be great if both of them ran but obviously they have to be well and they have to go through all their tests tomorrow and pass all those things before they get the all clear, but we’d be looking forward to it if that could happen.”

Two key contenders were ruled out of the Arc on Tuesday with last year’s winner Danedream and leading British contender Nathaniel confirmed as non-runners.

Connections of Danedream were forced to scratch the filly on Tuesday morning after the stables at Cologne racecourse where she is housed were placed into quarantine.

Then at lunchtime, it was revealed Nathaniel, who was second to the German mare in the King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot in July had suffered a setback.

The four-year-old colt, trained by John Gosden, returned unsatisfactory blood tests when he was found to have had a temperature.

“He had a temperature this morning, they took some blood tests and his blood wasn’t right,” said James Wigan, racing manager to owner Lady Rothschild.

“Considering how close we are to the race, we cannot consider running him.”

The withdrawal of Danedream was inevitable once her stable complex in Germany was dramatically placed into quarantine.

The story first emerged on Monday evening and Cologne racecourse has now been shut down for three months after a horse tested positive for a serious equine infection of the blood. All horses based there cannot leave.

France Galop’s media manager Julien Pescatore said: “There is a quarantine period of 90 days, and for that reason Danedream will not be able to run in the Arc.

“It is really sad that she will not be able to run, but there is nothing we can do about it.”

The timing of the closure of Cologne racecourse could not have been worse for Danedream’s connections.

Patrick Barbe, racing manager for her part-owner Teruya Yoshida, said on Tuesday morning: “The quarantine is round the race track in Cologne and nothing can come in and out of there for three months.

“That situation at the moment is final and binding.

“If the race was in two weeks they might have found a solution, but with time being so short to the deadline for the race it has proved too difficult.”

With Snow Fairy was also taken out of the race at the weekend, betting on Europe’s premier middle-distance race has endured a major overhaul.

The only consolation for backers of Danedream is that most bookmakers are refunding stakes.

Japanese challenger Orfevre, winner of the Prix Foy, has strengthened as favourite, at around 5-2, with a field of 17 currently in the race following the latest scratchings stage.

There is a supplementary stage on Thursday at which Saonois, winner of the Prix du Jockey-Club and Prix Niel, is expected to be added.

With the race opening up, several horses are now attracting support, including the Sir Michael Stoute-trained Sea Moon, who is now 10-1 from 14-1 with Ladbrokes.

Their spokesman David Williams said: “The big name defections have thrown the Arc market into disarray but the real money continues to come for Sea Moon.

“He’s been easily the best backed horse in the race since the weekend.”

Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, Ladbrokes bet: 5-2 Orfevre, 4-1 Camelot, 7-1 Masterstroke, 8-1 Shareta, Saonois, 10-1 St Nicholas Abbey, Sea Moon, Meandre, 16-1 Imperial Monarch, 25-1 bar.

The Paris showpiece is not on terrestrial TV for the first time in years, but race-fans will be able to watch Racing UK's coverage for free from 12pm to 5.30pm on October 7 - via internet-connected televisions or Freeview set-top boxes.

Freeview 231 is currently available in around five million homes in the UK, and, as well as presenting an alternative to satellite and cable, the channel offers interactive options, such as on-screen colour racecards, results and news.

Racing UK's Marketing Director Clive Cottrell said: "We've decided to make the fantastic card, which boasts seven Group 1 races, free to view, given it won't be on terrestrial TV this year.

"Freeview is easy to operate either through a Freeview-enabled TV or a set-top box, which is connected to the internet.

"The added bonus of watching Racing UK on Freeview is that it opens up very exciting interactive opportunities, such as finding out the latest odds and results."

Jeez. With the resources and money behind Aidan O"Brien at heart he is just an opportunist. Coolmore have been planning the career and life (and name) of Camelot for 2 years Nothing in the plan for Camelot included the Arc. If I was his paymaster he would be looking for  a  job tonight. Awful. Arise Sir Henry a true man racing man.

At this stage as a backer I wouldn't touch this race until the draw is known, particularly if your considering one of those at the head of the market. After all it is 50/50 whether you get a double digit draw which has proven very difficult to overcome. Orfevre will probably get the worst possible draw given the way things have gone for the fancied horses in the last few days Mischief

Have you laid Camelot by any chance HaylingBilly?

Lads, its not straight forward,to be able to use the ruk service your tv has to be connected to the internet, either through a built in wireless or an ethernet connection on the tv or freeview box,so you need a smart tv basicallyCrazy

Seems certain from the market that Top Trip won't be supplemented despite the forecast rain and all the recent defections making him look a live e/w candidate.

HM - how do you find out all this news?
Give us all some tips please, on how to find basic information Happy

I can't follow those French sites but the adverts on them are well sign-posted! Cry
Just been on France Galop & Paris Turf and can't glean anything at all!

Is there any news on Reliable man or Kesampour you're aware of?

I can't even find the going reports!

The coverage on ATR & RP sites is absolutely appalling!
