Thanks AD...that's appalling news
![]() Is there some kind of disease on the loose? |
|
By:
Apparently there's a lockdown at Cologne due to 'Equine infectious anaemia (Swamp fever)'.

Bazzar will be even more gutted than the rest of us
![]() It's not just about the money, but I'd got Danedream well onside over the last few days ![]() The double intruder ![]() |

By:
From a betting point of view I am pleased as saw her as clearly the main threat to Orfevre and Nathaniel.
However still would have preferred her to run and you have to feel desperately sorry for connections ![]() |
|
By:
No, it's not just the money. It's very sad. She'd have been a legend if she won it.

Will Betfair be cancelling any bets placed (backs & lays) that were AFTER the release of the Danedream news?
I'd set a few lays for other horses which were gobbled up when I was out ![]() It could be perceived as a Rule 4 in a way, meaning some people have been buggered ![]() |

She would have been indeed. Seems like she won't be able to go out to Japan either...perhaps the owners may give her another season now and see how she is back in training before making a decision about retirement.

Bad news, swamp fever is very contagious and dangerous, I hope my little
girl survives to produce babies. My substitute goes into action now, I was fearful that she would not run because of the SHADAI STUD connection, DANEDREAM as a mare will in normal circumstances be able to produce one foal each year, ORFEVRE, however will be able to SERVE at least 40 mares a season @ £100,000 a pop, economically he is the better prospect. |
|
By:
German authorities are meeting to discuss the situation (according to the RP). There's still a glimmer of hope.
BF's rules only provide for dead horses NG so I don't think they can refund. After all, there's still speculation even now. |
|
By:
It's been a bad few days...two smashing fillies out of the race (last year's first & third) - let's hope there are no more withdrawals
![]() |
|
By:
Pete as much as the German authorities are going to discuss, can you really see the French authorities allowing her in?
As bazz says this is very contagious so they simply couldn't risk it could they? |
|
By:
Thanks Pete...it still amounts to individuals being privy to 'inside' information that the vast majority were not aware of - you'd think Betfair would have some sort of contingency in place, but I suppose that's one of the hazards of ante-post trading
![]() Today's events have prevented an opportunity for me to have made a few quid with further trading, having got Danedream on my side - to be buggered by laying several others (in effect, like without a R4) makes it the triple-whammy for me (her absence)...hopefully, when the market re-opens, things won't be as damaging as I fear, but most of all, the race has been robbed of its 'X-factor' ![]() Annoying innit? I had a substantial green against Snow Fairy too ![]() Why don't these things seem to benefit us traders? I don't want ANY quality prospect missing the race, but if it had been Camelot or St.Nicholas Abbey, the big red against their names in my ever-changing book would have been easier to take on the chin ![]() Has anyone done well (financially) out of this? PS - I wouldn't have thought there was much hope of a U-turn Pete...these things are non-negotiable and the authorities don't take chances...remember the Festival in 2001? |
|
By:
Terrible news, really gutted for Danedream and her connections!!! Sunday isn't going to be the same without the defending champ being there.

|
By:
I can't see it being reversed either, sadly. Remember when we had F & M? You couldn't even take a sandwich into
the Republic of Ireland and I can walk over the border in about 10 minutes from my house. I'll be amazed if DD gets a race now. |
|
By:
Will be a massive shame if she doesn't get to run, but if she can't run then with Snow Fairy also missing it becomes even more open and I hope Francois Doumen grows a pair and runs Top Trip who is still the best of the 3 year old imo, instead of going for a 1m7f Group 2 race on the Saturday.

Patrick Barbe, racing manager for part-owner, Teruya Yoshida, said he was “very pessimistic” about Danedream being able to run in the Arc

![]() The Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe in Paris will take place without the world-class mare Danedream. http://www.stern.de/sport/sportwelt/danedream-start-in-paris-geplatzt-1903489.html The horse Danedream must not leave the restricted area in Cologne. Because the Cologne racetrack was due to the occurrence of infectious anemia in a locked stationed racehorse with immediate effect, had the Mitfavoritin and defending champion from Cologne to cancel the start of the renowned horse race on Sunday. The Municipal Veterinary asked the Cologne racecourse temporarily quarantined. So that the planned race days fall on 3 October and 17 From October. Danedream had won the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe last year sensational. Not least because the mare was true for the millions of race as Mitfavoritin. In a kilometer in diameter around the Cologne stable a restricted area is established. "The question horses for three months may not leave the premises. Moreover, at this time, no new horses are brought into the restricted area", said the city of Cologne. When infectious anemia is a notifiable animal disease that must be fought. By the disease can only be infected horses or other equines. Humans or other animals are not affected. The Gallop umbrella organization expressed shock: "The Board of Thoroughbred breeding and racing regrets that now Danedream her title in the Arc not defend can and the other horses in Cologne can not participate in performance testing, it is a disaster for all concerned, especially the owner. Active and in Cologne, "said Turf Chief Manager Andreas Tiedtke. Of for 14 October planned price of winter favorites to be moved to another track. |

Orfevre has been the only one for me for a long time now and all my money is on the monster but after the horrible news regarding Danedream I thought I would add a rear gunner!
I couldn't resist backing Yellow and Green EW and have taken the 33-1 with Laddies. I've watched her Vermeille run a few times now and I think it was impressive mainly because Thierry Thulliez only appears to give her a hands and heels ride. She picked up from the rear like a very good filly and I think there is more to come. It's a big IF but if there is any heavy rain around I think she would have a chance of making the frame, some of the other contenders will not want soft ground! |

By:
why don't they reopen the market.

@Foyleswar
Pastorius is not trained in Cologne. But as I posted before, he wont run in the Arc anyway. |
|
By:
We now know that ORFEVRE will start odds on for the ARC,
I suspected that both he and DANEDREAM would be joint odds on favourites because of the ownership rule, if any want to take advantage of a poor situation, then the time is now. Because I became aware of the ownership, I decided to cover and have come about £20 better off than DANEDREAM with ORFEVRE, not bad when you try to equal them up. I must repeat I am NOT a big gambler and many would put me to shame if they knew my highest stake, but the long term object is to win, not to LOSE BIG. |
|
By:
suspect Orfevre will have the ''Deep Impact'' charge on the day.
Think I,ll look for value elsewhere.Missed the big prices! |
|
By:
Race for the first time in years not on bbc or ch4.
Watch it down the pub I guess... |
|
By:
bazz, Orfevre will not start odds on in any market other than on PMU and this will not relate to BSP or UK SP with the bookmakers.
All the money will come from Japan into the PMU and there will be a big discrepancy between the two prices, just like with Deep Impact. I have a strange feeling that if Camelot runs, in the UK he will start favourite. As for the 'coupled' argument, as the original owner still had a stake in the horse, I doubt that would have happened. Look at all the different guises the Maktoum family have horses in - only the exact same are coupled iirc |

Should have made that clear as regards pari mutuelle as opposed to
bookies, never claimed to be perfect and I assume you understood my point, when the result is printed in Mondays Racing Post it WILL show that the PM FAVOURITE was ORFEVRE, with industry prices alongside. |
