The prize is a bit low, but I suppose that the enhanced monthly prizes have done less as well as fewer entries.

thought i was doing well with 3 winners

how many entered this year...and have they released the figures of the top 20 picks?
By:
anyone think the gap in money between 1st & 2nd is a bit much?
2nd overall only £5k more than Cheltenham wnr. |

In response to duffy's earlier queries
1. I have requested figure for total entries from totesport and will report back on this issue 2.The schedule detailing number of lists in which each horse appears was published in Racing Post on Nov 20(Friday) last year,on Nov 25(Tuesday) previous year.On that basis,it would appear reasonable to expect publication on Tuesday or Friday of next week. This schedule does not appear online A change from last year which has not been remarked upon-there is no prize for the month of March this year |
By:
the sum of the overall prize money and the monthly prizes is approx £409,000 - this figure represents 70% of the overall revenue from entries, therefore there must have been about 58,400 entries
By:
I have used a similar calculation in the past,to arrive at an estimate of total entries
As you state,original(pre-deduction) prize fund is £583,820 However, online entries cost £10 and postal entries £12 Therefore,in the absence of a breakdown of figures between online and postal, one is forced to make an estimate, and I have tended to use an estimate of 10.5 average,on the basis that the great majority of entries are made online This year I have decided to seek correct figure-if it is not made available,so be it-back to estimating! |

I'm far more interested in which horses are going to get the points personally. My November lines might get a serious boost tomorrow in Imperial Commander, Master Minded and Zaynar do the business.
By:
Me too!
By:
Me three!
By:
Master Minded and Imperial Commander welcome points.
No need to feel disappointed yet. |
By:
Agree.
Lists on 84 and 82 points with Pandorama and Denman as Hennessy options, so looking ok at the moment, though things can change rapidly. Not really interested in the overall leaderboard until after the Christmas period. |
By:
Good results here.
I reckon I'd have lists in the top 10 if Dancing Tornado had won last week. ![]() |
By:
Wins for both Denman and Big Buck's or maybe Pandorama / Big Buck's would be most appreciated next weekend, along with another victory for Solwhit.
By:
I've dodged Denman and Zaynar.
We'll know more this time next week. |
By:
Had Zaynar in a handful and Denman in around 40% of our lists, so a win for him would be fine for us. Got the first 6 or 7 in the Hennessy betting covered, with Weird Al next best, followed by Diamond Harry, Pandorama, Burton Port, Neptune Collonges & Taranis. Big Buck's is our banker.
Still need a lot of like to get the right combinations. |

i combined Solwhit/MM/Imperial in 2 lists so pleased with the start.JOCI/TTF how many lists did you combine the 3 ?
By:
Can anyone post the top 20 selected like in previous years? much appreciated if someone can, missed the RP on Friday when i believe this was published
By:
We got them together in 5 lists.
Individually (% of lists): Solwhit 50% Imperial Commander 62% Master Minded 36% Saw Solwhit as a direct competitor for Hurricane Fly in Ireland, and felt he wouldn't go to Cheltenham(or win if he did). Liked Imperial Commander, but concern about him only having 3 runs, and in the highest company. Master Minded was a tough one, as I had it in the back of my mind that he might have been a little on the downgrade after last season, and had to share him around with the likes of Tataniano, Big Zeb and Golden Silver. |
By:
hmm thats superb as i would guess you have atleast 4 henn horses with the 3 winners JOCI,i have 2 henn horses with the 3 winners but not the 2 i like - Pandorama and Wierd Al. Denman is my hope but can the mighty rising 11 concede 26ibs to the likes of Pandorama.Big Bucks/Binocular and a host of races next weekend to look forward to. We all pick the obvious but 3 key races other than The Henn/Fight 5th/Long Walk next week, the shrewd judge who picks the Royal Bond/Drinmore and Peterborough Chase will scoop the 10 grand November '2 week' prize in my opinion
By:
In those 5 lists combining the 3 horses you mentioned we have, as Hennessy horses:
List 1: Denman (Big Buck's & Binocular) List 2: Denman (Big Buck's & Binocular) List 3: Pandorama (Big Buck's & Binocular) List 4: Weird Al ((Big Buck's & Binocular) List 5: Denman / Pandorama (Big Buck's & Peddlers Cross) Big weekend coming up! We have other lists just behind, which could easily end up better than these though, as it's such an early stage, that anything could happen. Probably won't have much in the Royal Bond or Drinmore as didn't go big at all on Irish novices, and probably not the Peterborough either. |
By:
My nov lines took a hit this w/e, my speculative horses like James de vassy and manyriverstocross have missed out and Zaynar let me down big time. Have an outside chance if Neptune collonges wins the hennessy and Oscar Dan Dan takes the Hattons grace otherwise its back to the main comp!

Newbury frozen off this weekend. Hennessy ran at Sandown in December..."makes you think you dont know what to think"..lol

Dermot Weld admits it is unlikely that his Royal Ascot hero Rite Of Passage will be campaigned over hurdles this season.
The six-year-old has won two of his three outings over timber, his only defeat coming at the hands of Peddlers Cross at the Cheltenham Festival. He is unbeaten on the Flat and was last seen springing a surprise when winning the Group One Gold Cup at Ascot in June. "He's here at Rosewell House and is in great form," said the trainer. |

Found we have list on 111 with imperial commander solwhit master minded menorah and cue card with binocular denman and big bucks to come this weekend

You have your name in lights JOCI - well done. Looks like the leader picked a useful Nov list without taking many risks.
All my lists have exactly 70 points and only 1700 ahead of me. Anyone know the entries for the most popular horses? |

Solwhit was the first horse to go in every one of my lists!
Irrespective of what happens on Sunday will race numerous times on favoured conditions and will surely have a favourites chance in the Irish Champ Hurdle if all goes to plan. For what its worth Binocular is in all my lists too! I have 2 Solwhit/MM/IC lines myself but the nov prize looking out of reach. |
By:
Nice one Rob,i find it remarkable how far down Master Minded and Denman are,the PP really sets the mind set 'into having must have this winner' over 22 thousand more Long Runs than MM and Denman? eh? also more Great Endeavours and then a horse not included wins it! like me though i was heavy on Long Run,to be 5/1 2nd fav for the KG before the PP it had to win. Prices and hype, but it is early days for LR
By:
Thanks Rob.
Really surprised that Binocular is 2nd, most pop, considering how inconstistent it's been. |
By:
Cheers, Rob. Tataniano being marginally favoured over Master Minded was the one that struck me. I made the same decision myself, but didn't think it would put me in the majority!
By:
Same for me too, although both had potential question marks about them. Was Master Minded on the downgrade, and Tataniano was meant to be very ground dependent. Even Big Zeb was not supposed to be running very often too.
