one of my most favourite horses from one of my favourite stables with perhaps my least favourite jockey ... Ok he did ride stun gun to win two weeks ago ... but hes ridden some poor ones mostly when ive backed them .I actually punted this at around 35s a few weeks ago here and it won . I didnt back it last time but the time before it was out with the washing 30lengths detatched yey produced a Dancing Brave type finish to be a rapidly closeing third beaten maybe a couple of necks ,,That day i had a biggish bet on it at around 20s ,So we come to today ... its going to get behind the question is of course will paddy engage brain and not overcomplicate it ie come wide not between horses .Its also against a couple of inform better horses than last time ... but ive had a good day today so im putting on a decent chunk of my winnings ... i might also try a bet in running at big odds ,,,especially with its running style ... I feel sick. |

It was a nice 1st time out performance from Osaila 2day, she was the form pick in my book, had a few £££ on her this morn at 4s Happy she overcame a tricky outside draw to win a shade snugly |

Half an apology to Miller - he tipped it in the morning in this forum. Still.... I'd rather find out how clever he is
myself, rather than having him boast about it in other threads. |

Packer enjoyed telling people that his grandfather, Robert Clyde Packer, went to the races in the Tasmanian city of Hobart, found $10 on the ground, bet it on a 10-to-1 long-shot, and the horse won in glorious fashion. "He bought a ticket to Sydney and went into the newspaper industry and did quite well," Packer would grossly understate. "That's where my family started from: 10-bob on a race course."
He was wrong-the horse won by a neck |

Date Joined: 01 Jun 10 Add contact | Send message 18 May 15 18:34 Joined: 01 Jun 10 | Topic/replies: 4,059 | Blogger: FELTFAIR's blog Right Figgis read carefully. Derby Betting started for me with the G2 Beresford Stakes in September 2014 when I sat and watched with the Derby betting in front of me. Around the furlong marker it seemed clear to me that Ol`Man River was going to win effortlessly. I quickly entered my stake and got matched. Immediately after the race I was able to lay off at a shorter price and the Derby screen turned green.Sorry I didn`t inform you prior to this trading but it was a spur of the moment event. Next, after Christmas Ladbrokes were consistently offering 8/1 about John F Kennedy for the Derby and you could lay shorter on Betfair so I helped myself to the price and then layed the horse on Betfair over a few weeks at just over 4/1. The Derby screen turned greener. Sorry I didn`t inform you but the opportunity was there for all to see. Then I explored all the entries, in particular, the French entries on their clock performances and based on that review I had more than enough green in my book to back a few big priced horses as follows,Consort which I then layed and it probably won`t run,Order of St George which I layed at a worse price than I backed it at but I am pretty certain it will not run,Karaktar, Migwah and Epicuris all from France I backed at big prices on the off chance that one or more might just turn up and I could trade shorter. Probably money wasted but so be it. Didn`t think it important enough to inform you. Then I read some breaking news that Giovanni Canaletto had scoped badly and would miss his trial, at Chester as I recall, so I immediately layed the horse and backed it back at a bigger price when the news circulated. I would have had more on but the price shortened up again and it now seems it will run in the Gallinule on Sunday. Unless it does something very good against the clock I will let it run. Again this was a spur of the moment thing and I didn`t have time to notify you in advance. Next, prior to the Dante I again looked at the Derby market and decided based on clock performances I did not want Jack Hobbs or Zawraq winning too much so layed them both prior to the Dante. Again sorry for not informing you prior to these transactions but I did not realise it would aggravate you so much. Finally on Dante day I had the Derby betting in front of me and when Golden Horn, which incidentally I backed in the Fielden at Newmarket, cruised to the front I pressed the button and got matched. I did not have a lot on because of the doubts over his participation but when it was confirmed he would go the the Derby I traded some of my investment. Once again it was a spur of the moment event and never had time to inform you in advance. I will do no more now until final declarations are made and the state of the ground is reasonably well established at which point I will post any final adjustments/trades on my "2015 Derby" thread as I do for all the "big race threads", the 2000 and 1000 Guineas being the most recent. I trust this acceptable to you and does not aggravate you anymore than you seem to be now. ![]() |

But no gloating because I do not how Legatissimo lost that except perhaps for its antics on the way to post. Guess that they will drop her back to 10f.Looking at the form there is no way I could have the winner and its pure chance that I won. It was a Foinavon type result. As for CZ well she had no chance after 4f pulling like that. funny old game this. ![]() |

do wish they'd settle the market.... Subtle but non the less an aftertime, and just after GOMEZ (a 400/1 shot) wins the FedEx St Jude Golf Classic in Memphis, TN on a Sunday night. http://www.oddschecker.com/golf/fedex-st-jude-classic/winner/bet-history/fabian-gomez/today The poor boyo need to pray to St Jude imvho - one of the 12 Apostles of Jesus and is the patron saint of desperate cases and lost causes. |

Novena to Saint Jude (Novenas are a prayer said for nine consecutive days):
"O Holy St Jude! Apostle and Martyr, great in virtue and rich in miracles, near kinsman of Jesus Christ, faithful intercessor for all who invoke thee, special patron in time of need; to thee I have recourse from the depth of my heart, and humbly beg thee, to whom God hath given such great power, to come to my assistance; help me now in my urgent need and grant my earnest petition. I will never forget thy graces and the favors thou dost obtain for me and I will do my utmost to spread devotion to thee. Amen." |

The irish boy on atr told everyone that it would not win , that small fields does not suit the horse. One should have betted accordingly. |

THE MODEST AFTERTIMER
A skilled aftertimer can work in such a way he seems almost apologetic for being so shrewd. The key here is to seemingly reflect more on subsequent disasters than the massive touch that is clearly the point of the post. Johnny_Mustang 27 Jul 15 08:17 Hi Teetonmill. Have fond memories of your username as he was part of a five-horse accumulator I had one Saturday (what, probably 20 year's ago now?) that won me thousands. Haven't had a win like that since then of course.... |

In a thread asking what horse from years gone by do you wish you had seen, someone said "Bertie Wooster"
and gave racingguru a lead-in for a 26 year aftertime... racingguru 29 Aug 15 05:20 A strange choice but brings back some very good memories as remember backing it at 20/1 at Newmarket in 89 in my last year at Uni. A few mates and I had made the trip across from Colchester and I remember that Bertie Wooster was top or joint top on the old stopwatch ratings in the sporting life. Happy days |
|
By:
Not only did he get to mention a big-priced winner; he managed to drop in the fact that he went to university
back in the days when you had to pass real exams to get there. If there's one thing worse than an aftertimer, it's a clever aftertimer. |

I'm sorry - I know that the football forum is full of filth but I had to bring this to the attention of the court. People were discussing the greatest upsets in the history of sport after Japan beat S.Africa at rugby yesterday when this little gem popped up after Wimbledon beating Liverpool in the FA Cup final in 88 was mentioned......
homefortea 19 Sep 15 19:44 Joined: 06 Sep 04 | Topic/replies: 11,311 | Blogger: homefortea's blog Some half-wit on the BBC site was trying to compare the result with the biggest shocks in sport.. He/she/it came up with Wimbledon beating Liverpool in the FA Cup Final.. Shows what freaks post on there as I backed Wimbledon at 40/1 to win the FA Cup before round three and they were fifth in the League.. 27 years, 4 months, and 5 days after the event, or if you'd prefer 9,989 days. If he'd just hung on a little bit longer he could've smashed the 10,000 day barrier before letting us know |
