will still be top top time woodman. how much AP money loads I reckon, I feel sorry for those punters, but he was massively overhyped, Im disappointed wont be able to lay him, cant wait t

o get to Dublin

Just very disappointed Swayne. Big ante-post bet for me, Phoenix peanuts in comparison and looks like no Imp either. Lost before i've even got there, it seems
. Never mind, will try to claw some back. Should still be a very good night |
By:
Unfortunately you always get some fancied runners falling by the wayside at this time of the year, it's a pity but it's still a fantastic Derby in my opinion
By:
yep feel for you and all. thats the risk I guess, is disappointing. need to get back on the horse..

agree Prem. but the politics annoy me...one of the (many)Phoenix owners told me he didnt think the Head of The Club was really up for the Derby, having to put the dog with another trainer for Derby (dont know if true or not), and Panther, the almost constant positives coming out of O Flynn camp, and then the potential affect on stud value considerations...
By:
I know Panther was guaranteed to reach the final but he could have ended up in the Plate or something. Probably will never see him race now. Looked an amazing puppy and i thought the hype not mis-placed at first, but had limitations exposed in all-aged company, not coming away like he did when only a nipper. Odds were obviously against him winning the Derby but had a chance of a nice win, which has been ripped away now
By:
He was probably showing John the same at home as he was last year. The problem being last year he was in his own age bracket and leading every night but since coming back this year in all aged company he has not being able to lead. I was not impressed with him in the Gold Cup (said on here) and then even less impressed with Curraheen and although Dundalk didn't tell us much he never looked like catching his kennel mate for 3rd.
It's a real pity he ain't running though as you know whoever wins the Derby now will have some people saying they would not have if Milldean Panther had ran in it and there is no definative way too know. Hopefully he can come back next year and show all how good he is but i fear this is the last we have seen off him on the track. |
By:
Panther lame out
By:
agree last seen of him. dont agree Derby winner achievement will be devalued because the only thing made Panther good this year has been his Derby AP price, Sand and Broadstrand had his measure as you say and at Cork, well he was lucky as hell in the Final, and it was weak competition. His GD ratings are mightily consistently impressive I would concede regardless of opposition
By:
You're right it doesn't take anything away from who wins it but i can guarantee you'll hear at least one say on the night, if Milldean etc.......
Anyway the show goes on, great trials by Cain and Bolt last night but they have to translate that to races next |
By:
maybe, but they will have red cheeks and green hair and answer to the name 'Coco'. If you look at oddscheckerit's just brutal for value, disgraceful, I really dont see anything attractive at all. Im on big JFK since March&April but he was less than inspiringlast week
, just hoovered up on BF a couple of small back bets on Sand, giving combined odds of 36.5/1 which I think is value...of course if he runs...but some clown is trying to lay 300's so there might be a problem with him, hence my smallish bet. Might be better just getting over there and backing the guinness/kilkenny |
By:
Anyone that says anything can be taken away from the winner because Panther is not there is talking nonsense.
He has done nothing in 2012 to merit being head of the market and was surely not in the top 6 or maybe top 10 in terms of performances this year. His absence takes a lot of the interest away but I don't think it affects the result at all. |
By:
I'm happy with my lot anyway, starting point and can work from here during the comp.
Razldazl Will @ 28/1 (not so happy with this one way too much on too)Tyrur Sugar Ray @ 33/1 Sparta Maestro @ 25/1 + 12/1 + 10/1 Camas @ 66/1 Power Of God @ 50/1 Cashen Mafuma @ 66/1 Captain America @ 100/1 + 66/1 Skywalker Puma @ 40/1 + 44.27 (avg on here) Tibetan Skies @ 33/1 + 46.48 (avg on here) Tyrur Big Mike @ 44.76 (avg just incase, only pennies on though) Milldean Tally @ 66/1 (layed 50s myself so took the 66s for free bet) Ballymac Vic @ 10/1 (just to get me stake back) |
By:
Lads i agree they'd be talking nonsense, but i came back from Wimbledon and got told by someone on the Shelbourne terrace that Jayfkay would have pissed the final and was robbed
don't mind the fact he couldn't even qualify for the race, so it does happen |
By:
Agree with most of what has been said here, I know he was in trouble early but I thought he didn't show anything remarkable pace wise at Dundalk. He's done nothing in all aged company to suggest he'd be winning any Derby.
I very much doubt we'll see him back on the track. |
By:
just back from reading todays RP...which says Panther will trial tomorrow at SPK. No mention off injury from connections...if the injury was picked up in the International that was 8 days ago, so why have O'Flynn not come out and said anything. Very poor, if I'd have backed him for Derby post International I'd be livid
By:
Obviously, with Panther, Phoenix and Imp out my antepost portfolio looking pretty pitiful now. I even hear Piercestown Sand looking improbable too, so that's that for all intents and purposes, basically looking for money back from the rest.
50/1 Power of God only decent win. 35/1 Judicial Ruling reasonable profit. 35/1 Razldazl George break even. Small bets 66/1 Tynwald Bolt, 14/1 Droopys Cain, 50/1 Bugatti and 25/1 Jayfkay just gets bulk of money back. Estimated Ballymac Vic new 7/1 antepost favourite now, so backed him to turn a profit at 10/1, reckon he's my only real hope now |
By:
woodman, what have you heard re Sand and from where (if you can tell me)? thx

By:
Milldean Panther @MilldeanPanther
Sadly I have to retire due to injury but I can't wait to get nailing some bitches. Thanks for your support & thanks to @****. #woof Think Panther has had other things on his mind for quite a while |
By:
had been trading panther for awhile. A few times i was little surprised that i had been laid at way over the books prices for him. Managed to trade out my first few backs but not the one that was taken yesterday.
![]() looked at the graph after my 12's+ had got taken and was a little concerned when 20+ had been matched. i thought then that something was up. had a chuckle when i checked why id taken a few other bets earlier on other dogs and milldean wasnt at the top of the betfair list. Sometimes i hate antepost markets, done again by those in the know. Just happy id taken most of my back down a few days ago. ...phew. |
By:
Not necessarily those in the know.
PF would happily have been laying 12s on Panther when he was a 25s shot on his tissue!! |
By:
everything was taken up to 20+ in one go yesterday. seems a strange thing to do unless your totally desperate (for some reason??) to get him in the book knowing that anything just over double figures has seen people gobbling it up.
i had some 12 and 15's taken and whatever i put up, (wasnt alot) but it was getting taken. Decided then, i thought it was strange for there to be someone laying at those prices and took moust of the bet down. very happy i did. might not have been people in the know... but i hope they stay on betfair if they wernt. ![]() |

I'm actually intrigued at how the betting has materialised today, since the news we have had the 1st 5 in the betting cut across the board (not surprising). Then Dragon Shield has been left the same at 20s (too short anyway), Skywalker Puma at 25s, , Jayfkay at 25s and Bugatti at 33s. Rioga, McGuigan and Big Mike are cut then.
Why should Broadstrand Lad be cut for instance and not Bugatti?? Big Mike cut and not Tyrur Sugar Ray?? PP have cut Bubbly Phoenix despite them saying he is not running in the Derby?? Shelbourne Geoff has been cut with a good few despite being in danger of missing the comp too?? For the life of me i can't work out how they choose which dogs to slash in price, i seriously doubt it has anything to do with money taken |
By:
for me, i always have geoff short now, having seen large amounts turn up wanting to bet him in the last few derbies. Always one i think i can get in the book under bookies prices as the money comes for him.
By:
Dragon Shield far too short.
Similar early paces types to him (that are better early) with solid back straight pace (better pace) and stay stronger. He cannot win it. Hills are big with Geoff on 40s and Quail Hollow at 40s |
By:
the price cutting is laughable, no rhyme or reason, if I did not know better would seriously think it's just related to how often particular dogs have been quoted in the press on cumulative basis, more press, lower price.
By:
Looking at VC prices could you get 4/5 in a match Barefoot Allstar v Rattlin Goldstar (ante post rules obviously)?
By:
It's shocking ain't it? Sure blue sq have Cheddar Bob (Mill Pegasus) in their betting, didn't the dog sadly have to be put to sleep after Derby night in Wimbledon
![]() |
By:
lol...
was a bit naughty in the english derby just gone. when barefoot won the scottish he was cut by most to 25/1 for the english. blue square did the same. You could lay him on here at 20's. But blue square had rattlin goldstar still at 50's. not sure what half these dog traders do most of the time. The one in stoke ( for 365) hardly did anything when i was there. Most of the time settling was done by the nightshift lads also having just clocked in. |
By:
the 8.s , bl sq and vc quote barefoot and Rattlin at different prices still
By:
Ladbrokes are by far the worst.
Its their Derby and the only thing they do is hire a few models (this year it was 2 Razldazl pups rather than pay Assets) and get IGB to fire out a few photos about the launch on social media. Other than that there is nothing. It is excellent to see the Panther withdrawal affect both Lads (for their pathetic efforts) and Spoils (for their refusal to accept a bet) robbed of what they thought was loads of publicity. It will still be a great event but at least those that deserve little from it have had their meal ticket taken from them. |
By:
i reckon the books must have like a 300% book built in and worry if they go below this.
when the 8/1 fav goes, they must panic and have to make up the 12.5% by cutting everything and gaining another 20+% ![]() |
By:
Swayne, i was going off what you wrote re-Piercestown Sand, ie, someone laying him at 300/1. That cant be right unless you know he's a non-starter, it's a typo slip, ie, should be 30/1 not 300/1, or i mis-read your comment in the first place. It's all been quiet regarding him and no trial news or anything. Not surprisingly, it all just makes you wonder what's really going on with some of these dogs?
By:
nouts been matched on sand at 300 tho woody??
By:
Ok, thanks Lanza. Just go read Swayne's comment posted at 11.23 though, maybe i've just got the wrong end of the stick?
By:
if mildean as slight probs why they running him at Dundalk?
Why run him from 6? Why trun down 1/4 mill? I thought after not clearing he run okish ! why use him over his farther? They should of stuck him with Reth! |
By:
i think that comment doesnt fully quite not make sense.
seems hes backed sands at average of 30 something in the hope he runs. The second part dont make sense tho... someone is asking for 300 ??? on the dog, not trying to lay him at that. Think hes confused you too. could be a trader, could be a trap bettor, could be someone trying their luck at getting on. but no one has matched 300 on here. |
By:
oh ok. yeh I backed Sand q small at around 36, but you're right confused re 300 odd that someone was asking for, bad afternoon..
Re Panther, Im thinking they were more or less compelled to run in Spoilsports international given he's sponsored by Spoilsports, also no news from trainer re injury after 8 days, RP TODAY says trialling at SPK tomorrow, IGB this morning says Panther taking a break but will be back, this afternoon Panther twitter says he has retired....Im thinking lots of cooks making decisions and none of them agree.. |
