Great runs by Vic, Ranking and Tibetan Skies (hope he can stay in that form).

Tyrur Sugar Ray is going to need Taylors Sky like draws if he is going to ge deep in the Derby, i can't see him ever staying straight to the bend.

I thought the track was slower for trials and they put the sprinklers on after them and then again during racing.

550y

Eabhas Fantasy 30.20
Tyrur Big Mike 30.34 (was disappointing)
Crossfield Star 30.42

525y

Razldazl Bugatti 28.81 (absolutely flew out, didn't get sectional though)
Tyrur Gilmore 28.88
Barefoot Allstar 29.00
Power Of God 28.61

somebody else done 28.66 but i didn't catch the name

He broke alright Fattie and got a dream run up but couldn't lead Danmar Benny. Danmar Benny held him all the way down the back and pulled away slightly in the straight. Tibetan Skies flew down the back and then came around the outside to take them in the straight.

Still just the 2 main bets Milldean Panther and Piercestown Sand but been nibbling at others.

Bubbly Phoenix, Razldazl George turn a profit, along with just added 35/1 Judicial Ruling, 56/1 Coolykereen Imp and 50/1 Power of God.

Got my finger in other pies just to cover expenses and break-even.

Thought 66/1 Tynwald Bolt on the large side but is he injured PF?

Well, while the going's good, that's Dublin booked:

£44 return flights and 40euro bed and breakfast, not too bad Happy

Tynwald Bolt trialled around Limerick the other week, on what he has done over here (a few flashy trials) i wouldn't be backing him at 66s.

Judicial Ruling i don't think has been seen since the English Derby Final. I'd say he's on the skinny side too and is priced on what he did at Wimbledon.

Somebody posted on greyhoundscene that Bubbly Phoenix will be aimed at the Yarmouth Derby now
By:

Good news that he might not be travelling.

Would make a mockery of the race with Ted etc refusing to price him up on their boards again!!

Kick in face bubbly members who punted him,

Agree Fatty, think Bubbly members were all sure he was going to run in Irish Derby and most probably already gone in heavy. I know one of the members. I'll text him, see if he can find out whats going on

As Bassanio has previously pointed out on this thread the bookmakers are a joke pricing up the Derby especially the sponsors and the 2 Irish firms. They only put a select few dogs in their betting and only add others once they have flown around Shelbourne so they can put them in at a stupid price. Even when you request a price for a dog off them for the competition (as i have) they say they will get back to you but don't bother but once the dog whizzes around Shelbourne they will put him in at 33s no doubt Plain

Dragon Shield the most recent example.

Can you imagine trying to get a price after its debut run.

Not until it has run twice in Ringsend was it introduced and then at a ridiculous price.

The sponsors are the worst. They are supposed to be promoting themselves and the Derby yet are not standout on any of the top 15 dogs in the market and are shorter than many competitors on many of the fancied dogs.

How can anyone stand by 16s Broadstrand Lad at this stage?

Dont want to over-react to recent developments but Panther's defeat, the likelihood of Phoenix not starting, Maestro under a cloud, Cain easy to back and Ballymac Vic the new kid on the block according to Champion Stakes betting, makes me think the market for the Irish Derby could be all wrong. Maybe, just maybe, we should be looking at 10 Panther, 12 Vic and 16 bar? Even things are silent about my other main fancy Piercestown Sand. Got a feeling there will be some surprise finalists this year

Milldean Panther has always been underpriced and seen as they never pushed him out that much after his Gold Cup defeats i don't see why they will now, they should though. I wouldn't worry about it anyway and sure we haven't seen the race yet, he could have been desperate for all we know.

This Derby is wide open as i said on greyhoundscene when they where all but declaring Eske champion if he came over, there are about 20-25 dogs maybe more that would not surprise me if they won it. Sure just look at the list on oddschecker, George last years winner is 20th on the list and Bullet last years Derby Final fav is 26th.

agree Fattie, barking madness, pricing staff must not have had their injections this month, must live on another planet such a disparity to best available 14's, as some posters have said earlier in the thread L**brokes seem out to shoot themselves very publicly in the foot at every opportunity, this is not unheard of amongst firms, but rarely does a firm pay c€140k for the privilege!!

Coolykereen Imp running in the Bar One Sprint starting Friday night Shocked it must mean that he is not going for the Derby as the 1st round of the Derby is the weekend off the 1/4 finals of the Sprint Cup unless he gets knocked out in the first two rounds
By:

When: 17 Jul 12 18:14
That seems strange, only had loose change on him for Derby anyway, but he dont strike me as a real sprinter. Think its the big gallop Dundalk though, is it?, so might suit. Is Spearhawk injured, retired or something? What are the top sprinters currently in Ireland?, with a personal view for the Sprint September 8th, please

Oh yeah, word of warning. If you see a price that seems too good to be true on Betfair, like my 56/1 Coolykereen Imp, it means it usually is and someone knows something! Sad

Droopys Cain done 29.59 for 550y in Shelbourne Saturday night. Slick Seattle done 18.79 for 350y.

Captain America is finally back on track, he done 21.14 for 400y around Dundalk. Very impressive seen as Cambushmore won in 21.26 and Piercestown Con in 21.28 on Thursday night.

21.14 is a cracking run from Captain Ameica.

The 100s are gone on him I see, but 66s is not bad value at all.

The 100/1 chalked up about Sawpit Sensation with Hills is very big. He may not be good enough but he merits more respect than that.

MILLDEAN OUT OF DERBY AND OFF TO STUD20/07/2012
The major news which blew up overnight is that Milldean Panther will not run in the forthcoming Ladbrokes Irish Derby and will not run again this year.

He will soon recommence his stud career but just where has not yet been announced.

John O’Flynn Snr confirmed the news this morning which will come as a major disappointment to greyhound followers who were looking forward to seeing him in action in the Derby.

Despite his **** International defeat, Milldean was still either clear or joint favourite in all betting lists on the Derby but instead he will now be setting out on his second stint at stud.

Said O’Flynn Snr, “We are extremely disappointed as we thought he was coming into top form but I had him checked yesterday and he has an Achilles tendon injury. The good aspect of it is that it hasn’t gone up into the muscle but it would keep him out for a few months and the owners have decided that he will not race again this year and will instead go to stud for a while”.

The son of College Causeway and Auld Nag is the Shelbourne 525 record holder with a 28.00 run and would have been expected to give the 550 record a severe testing during the forthcoming Derby”.

Now we must all hope that this flying machine will return to action as good as ever in 2013.
