Some big prices about, must be major time
![]() ![]() Added a few today - Horschel at 190, having some season and has some links pedigree if you look up his Walker Cup experience at Royal County Down and has now contended in a major, will surely shorten. Has to. Points at 700, very hit and miss but when he's on, he's on, good temperament for a major championship and in an event that can be a lottery, 700 is big if he's on the right side of the draw. Blixt at 360, can play, in form, multiple winner. Nibbled Piercy at 660, cos I'm a sucker, the only justification I offer. Horschel the stand out price at the minute by some distance in my opinion. |
|
By:
Agree on Horschel, the price is just fantastic, in the same bracket as Delaat
Others I like for price are Hanson Karlsson Glover Furyk Moore Clark T Yang Bourdy De La Riva Cauley Jamieson |
|
By:
With the weather forecast as it is, the links specialists do not have a great advantage, just go for the great golfers.
Delaet and Horschel come into this category |
|
By:
The Americans are great value for this reason. The two favourites that stick out on price are
Rory and Schwartzel |
|
By:
Thoughts on Francesco and Luiten?
Both in good form and both have some good links form. |
|
By:
Weather looks fantastic for the week with litte wind. Birdie fest, might suit the yanks.
|

By:
Tiger, Phil or Justin to win at 9/2 with PP looks a cracking bet to me

played golf early today instead of going to muirfield practice rounds the open
3 miles from gullane/muirfield up to 0845am perfect conditions, then a fairly strong breeze about 915am onwards take each day as it comes, the wind will change hourly ![]() ![]() |
|
By:
I have decided Dustin Johnson is going to my main bet. 45/1 e/w top 7 with PP.
Only played the event for the last 3 years but form figures of 9,2,14 are immensely impressive. Hardly in sparkling form this season, but conditions could really suit him imo, and links golf seems to bring out the best in him. |

With the weather set fair the two most important factors for this course will be driving accuracy followed by GIR.
Hit the fairways as the rough will be thick and very penal. On that criteria I have loaded up on Mahan dufner Weekly Horschel BVP KJ Delaet Moore Clark T Ramsay Streelman Huh Glover Bourdy De La Riva Yang |
|
By:
I like DJ also, playing his practice rounds with woods
|
|
By:
mickelson is my big bet this year
form player and will enjoy the quick greens and tough up and downs |
|
By:
you got a better price scottish open

Hasn't taken long for Horschel to start coming in, 160s now. Will still shorten by some distance, go off about 100s I reckon. Get on quick.

Nine guys too many in the Betfair market... Am I wrong in thinking Ross Fisher, Paul Casey, Steve Stricker, Soren Kjeldsen, Aaron Baddeley, Simon Dyson, Raphael Jacquelin, Thomas Levet and Chris Williams are all non-runners?
Shame about Casey, even though 55s seems too short. |
|
By:
yep and there not even on reserve list
|
|
By:
•1st reserve: Joost Luiten – Netherlands
•2nd reserve: Brendon de Jonge – Zimbabwe •3rd reserve: David Lingmerth – Sweden •4th reserve: Bae Sang-moon – Korea •5th reserve: Kevin Chappell — USA •6th reserve: Pablo Larrazabal – Spain •7th reserve: John Merrick – USA •8th reserve: Chris Kirk – USA •9th reserve: Jaco van Zyl – South Africa •10th reserve: Charley Hoffman — USA |

Shame about Jacquelin
![]() Coming nicely into form and a decent Open record. |

Anyone who knows Muirfield.....thoughts on the likelihood of players driving the greens on holes 2 and 11 ?Been bone dry up here and the bounce and run is going to be massive.
I appreciate the 2nd has OB down the left(is it the other side of the stone wall?) and bunkers at the front of the green but at 364 yards there looks enough room to have a go. The 11th is more debatable, it has a blind tee shot, 387yards but again there is room and a good bounce off one of the humps might see some end up by the green? Obv the wind might dictate what the players do off the tee. GL |

Also a shame Chappell didn't make it - he seems to lift his game for the Majors (though primarily the US Open, not the Open Championship).

By:
Kuchar or Colsaerts if odds where the same?
|
|
By:
Colsaerts, Kuchar, Oosthuizen. Gut instinct picks from the middle high odds group... Who should i go with!?
|
|
By:
Doubt very much anybody will be driving greens or attempting to the bunkers are just too penal

It's all about accuracy and plotting a path round this course, then it's who can also sink a few putts
|
|
By:
Hideki Matsuyama might feature. He was 10th in the US Open.
|
|
By:
Matsuyama was listed at 08:00 Sunday and 13:30 Monday practice tee times. Good lad.

not in the betting?

So far - many traded. Awaiting another 50 or so to get matched, high liquidity means it going to be a long Monday to Wednesday night.
Rory McIlroy Graeme McDowell Matt Kuchar Thomas Bjorn Padraig Harrington Henrik Stenson Bubba Watson Webb Simpson Shane Lowry Zach Johnson Chris Wood Bud Cauley - can't resist @1000. Scott Stallings |

Looks like Deleat is one of the price cashes. 390 down to 230 in a day.

Backed most of mine last night, and added a few today. Have beat the odds on some (notably Haas- Tour tips moved price today), but lost out on some others. With some of the big prices I've just taken a chance that they may just take to it as Bill Rogers, Tod Hamilton and Ben Curtis did. And I've just noticed that I have no GB ,Ire or Aussie players in my team !
Sergio 32 Bill Haas 140 Brooks Koepka 230 George Coetzee 280 Jonas Blixt 340 Thomas Aiken 360 (NAP) Harris English 400 Scott Stallings 420 Michael Thompson 660 Luke Guthrie 930 Bud Cauley 940 |
