Xmoney and you ridiculed me for saying accuracy is the key stat

Load up on the ones that hit fairways, the best value left out there is Ramsay, a great price.
Boo, Moore, Deleat, huh also fit the bill |

Duke has more chance of winning than Quiros.

De La Riva fits the bill.
18th driving accuracy, 13th G.I.R. Not great putting or scrambling stats, but one of the more likely 1000 shots, and I AM ON. Missed cut last week, without disgracing himself. 3rd at the French, week before, and a good showing at The Irish. |

With you there maggot. Showed so e good form these last few weeks as well.

Yang and KJ fit the bill as well. They have the nouse to plot their way around.
Furyk top of the US accuracy stats is also worth a punt. |

Struggle to understand why some of the names are mentioned on here, like De La Riva, bourdy and the like, in the Open even if a player like that is 5 clear going into the back 9 on Sunday they probably wont win, even if you got a 1000/1 you took a price thats way too short! I understand of course for trading purposes but the way some folk post their thoughts they actually think they can win ! My rule has always been with long shots in golf, is "If they are in contention on the last day, have they shown enough to suugest that they can see the win out?" If thats not the case forget it, there are plenty of players out there who can mix it with the best for two, maybe three, maybe 3 1/2 rounds but only the best can do it for four in a major.

By:
Gmt, we all have different approaches.
Getting a 1000-1 shot down to 50-1 and trade over to the favourites you think can win is a valid method. Putting your lot on say Rory at 28-1 who then fails to make the cut is just as stupid. Which ever method you use it's all about getting some green on the board come Sunday afternoon. |

Ericthecat..
I agree, I just feel there are some 100, 200 shots that will give you a trading option but also CAN win! For example you could have 150.00 for Keegan Bradley and if he was leading on day 4 he would trade very short, whereas if you took 750.00 for Gregory Bourdy and he was in that position he would be very unlikely trade short ! By the way I dont see Bradley doing well ! |
|
By:
Yes, agree. But in my team of 36 you get to cover a lot of possibles from Rory through Horschel, to walker and ending with De la Riva. As I said I am just looking for 1 come Sunday afternoon. My criteria was mainly based on accuracy off the tee. Del la Riva and Bourdy come high in that category and at 1000-1 and 750-1 it's pretty harmless selections.
Of course your Mahans, Furyks and Delaets have greater chances |

Do we know how bad the rough is? It's a short course, and news reports today said Tiger hit a 285 yard 4 iron, so the course must be super firm. If the wind isn't up, and without the incentive to pull driver, the rough will need to be penal to defend the course. A Royal Liverpool plan of attack from Tiger would not surprise.

Cheers x, he is right, looks like hay. Let's hope they have a nice buffer so the crowds can't trample it. Might even see a few balls not found within 5 minutes. Tiger's elbow may very well be a concern if he gets in that a few times.

windfinder.com a few days ago forecast ~ no wind. Now they forecast 7 knots on Thursday.
If it gets to 10 mph with firm fairways it will be interesting. Muirfield is a circle withing a circle. It will be from left, right, into, and helping over the 18 holes. |
|

I got a feeling the course will play like a cross between the Masters and the US Open, with more emphasis on the Masters.I think Day is a very solid chance and then Kuchar and Rose. These are my top three. Obviously on a few others at big odds but these are my triumvirate!
