Have backed Kuchar @50 as i do think it's great value for someone playing well this year and better than most golfers with lower odds than 50. He was 9th last year and hopefully he will improve on that.

Been tucking into Kuchar as well ski

Muirfield is the best course on the Open rota for me.Very fair,go off line you will be punished,no dodgy fairways like Sandwich. You will hear nearly all the pro's say its the best and the former winners back that up.Last time it was held there, the Saturday was the worst weather conditions i have ever seen pro's play in,40mph wind and driving rain.Remember Tiger getting rightly done, playing in the worst of it and shot 81.Be shame if he didn't add his name to the list of winners....fancy he will though.

Agree with Donny. The last time we had a shock result at Muirfield was in 1935 when Perry won. Even then, coincidentally his namesake started winning Grand Slam events at tennis!

On the Muirfield Saturday of 1987 Sandy Lyle scored 71 in weather you would not let the cat go out. That was possibly best bad weather round ever recorded.

Thought you would have been much busier ski. I've traded Stricker twice, Bubba, Zach, Stenson, Cab-Bello, Noren and Haas. Only one gone against me is Watney, have taken 95s-120s so need a good performance this week for a price drop. Kuchar the latest addition.

That was possibly best bad weather round ever recorded. ----------------------------------------------------- I was there on the Saturday in 2002, when Tiger was shooting 81. I followed Sergio for the entire round and the weather was simply horrific. He played all 18 in the worst of it and I have honestly never watched a more controlled round of golf in my life. He shot level par (71) and I truly believe nobody in the field could have done the same. He was hitting long irons from 140-150 yards, just trying to keep it on the short stuff. It really was a privilege to watch, albeit rather tough trying to keep sheltered from the storm! I've backed him for The Open this year (40's) and am half praying for some horrific conditions once again! |

Was there too Ron,it was a job to stand up and to shoot that number was amazing. As the weather was not expected,i had to run for cover to what was left of the tented village!! Say 80% of spectators left early that day which made viewing very easy for the last few holes of the leaders when the rains left and beautiful sunshine appeared.A crazy day.

I've never known weather like it. We were watching it all come over from out at sea and I was cursing my luck, having backed Sergio, and knowing he'd be getting the rough end of the draw. Little did I know exactly how bad the weather would be... utterly horrific!

It was a crew working on an oil rig off the coast of Aberdeen that raised the alarm of a storm on the way.Remember the rain started falling when Tiger walked on the first tee, then the sun came out as he walked off the 18th green!

I was there that day as well lads. Massive respect for you boys though, I was in the beer tent by the time Tiger was still on the front nine.

Trust me, had Sergio not been starting his round, I'd have been supping alongside you!

Is Titleist boy in The Open?

Iv'e backed Garcia and Fowler. I expect the winner to be a tee-to-green robot who isn't embarrassed to play a 3 wood from the tee. We might see a lot of Tiger from the waist up, the lower half obscured by rough as he tries to hack it out.

I do agree that fowler's game suited to The Open though Muirfield doesn't strike me as an especially "Linksy" type course - and I have played there.

Woods, Rose and Scott against the field. Rarely any surprises at Muirfield.

now haas has finally got over the line again, I have a feeling he could go well. let's not forget he is a fedEx cup winner.
so at this stage it is rose, kuchar, Jason day, Haas and a smidgeon on Bjorn if he drifts a bit which I think he will. |
|
By:
I forgot and a smidgeon also on fowler. sit back and win, lose or draw enjoy my favourite four days of the year, can't wait. and what with the Ashes and seven weeks holiday, what a life!!

Bjorn would be an obvious 'Open specialist' who would no doubt go well however he is not actually guaranteed to get in the field at the moment.
On both the Euro Tour & PGA tour the top 5 players in the top 30 of Race to Dubai/Fedex after this coming weeks events, who are not already exempt get in the field. By my reckoning that means in current order the following would get in; Euro tour Rumford Illonen Sterne Jamieson Bjorn US Tour Horschel Boo Henley English CH3 On the Euro tour Luiten & Warren are right behind Bjorn, Luiten by about 20k euro, so a bad week for him this week & anyone of a number of players could go past him. On the US tour Duke & Delaet are the next 2 in reckoning. |

think its 5 from top 20 not top 30,
