The more I think about it and the penalty given to the 14 year old (first in 25 years I believe)then he has to be DQ and once the players get up in the US I think there will be general uproar if he doesn't!!

nothing wrong with dropping the ball where he did in my opinion, 2 yards away is pretty close. What he's said in interview definitely muddies the waters though, can you be disqualified for saying something?

he wont be DQ'D ffs,not aa chance in hell

From his words maybe he went "2 yards further back" with his swing.Think that will be his defence.
|
|
By:
Even in the unlikely event that isn't disqualified he won't exactly be fired up for the rest knowing he's cheated, and the crowd could turn against him.

By:
What price was he in the early hours before this all started ?
|
|
By:
2 yards is 6 feet. Is not "pretty close"!!
|
|
By:
He was 3.85 in the early hours.

Thanks.

He could probably take a big dump on every green around Amen Corner in front of Nancy Reagan and Condi Rice and still not get DQd. Less likely still a dissenting voice from Sky Golf.

3.85 - 3.90 was too low. In my opinion and providing he doesn't get DQ he will be trading at 4.2/4.3 at least prior to teeing off!

We will nbot probaly know the verdict till about 12 pm to 1 pm UK time.....2 hours ish to go

Why wouldn't they, there were already a few laughing out loud when the ball spun back into the water.

Think I mostly agree with Ski Wiz here. If you are approximating your previous position for a drop then it makes sense to approximate then err a couple of yards back (assuming this does alter potential lie), to avoid gaining advantage if your original approximation is out- even if not required it makes sporting sense. I'd have thought that without his comments after this wouldn't be looked at.
So it does really come down to the interpretation of his taped "confession" about why he dropped, and more importantly, one suspects, whether or not the committee can afford to turn a blind eye to the American after penalising the Chinese kid, and risk sparking World War Three. |

ok was that when i looked at one point

By:
thought the rule was any distance behind the hazard on the extension of the line from the point where the ball LAST crossed the hazard?
|

By:
They have form here, they didn't disqualify V J Singh for a far more serious transgression the year he won it.
|
|
By:
I reckon they will blame the rules official for not calling an incorrect drop before he played his fifth. He could have re-dropped then at no penalty from the correct spot.

First Tee off at 2.25pm and Woods at 6.45 pm, so it looks like a long wait.
@Bosman - cheers - although the world war 3 jibe was a joke?..... ![]() ![]() |

Decision has to be made at the break of dawn.Think they should leave it in the hands of the player.Golfers never cheat, know fact.

Im no rules expert, but from reading on here, you would have to think it long odds on he is DQ. But those backing him at 4.7 obvously think he long odds on not to be. As 'nearly' is a bit of a grey area, and allows leeway and therefore a decision either way, it will surely come down to whether Tiger feels he infringed or not. He will need to be 100% sure in himself to either play on, or potentially win it. The Tiger of ten years ago wouldn have given a f*ck what way he got his hands on the trophy. He will now. 4.6 seems ludicrous. And i hope im wrong, have my biggest ever bet on him. Not on here though, so cant trade out.

Indeed Stunning.Tiger will consult with Monty before making a decision.Perhaps a donation to the Tsunami fund will be the way to go.

First of all the Chinese kid has nothing to do with this.
He said 'two yards', but it was actually much closer than that. I think if he was going to be DQ'd it would have happened last night. I haven't backed Woods....yet, so I no financial interest with wanting to keep Woods in the Masters, other than to see great,( and fair) play. |

Deposit the money and trade out..

will be shown on sky sports 1 soon so we can have a closer look

How would you price it up Heinz? 3 options, They DQ him, he DQs himself, he plays on??
|
|
By:
DQ - 1000
Plays on - 4 |
|
By:
saw it on bbc this morning, was well back... nearer five yards than two... and to the left another two yards... different club

DQ by officials - highly unlikely
DQ by himself - unlikely Play on as if nothing happened - likely |
|
By:
At the end of the day lads everyone on tiger is saying no chance, everyone opposing him is saying he's gone or gotta go
![]() Im on him so theres no chance!!! ![]() |
|
By:
looking at it again it was slightly less than 2 yards and as much to the side as it was further back, probably added a yard at most to the distance
|
|
By:
DQ Officially........1000
DQ himself...........1,000,000 Plays on.............1.01 |
|
By:
It wasn't far enough away for the officials construing it as him not being 'nearly' where it was played.
Nothing to see here. |
