if I where a member of the elite 500 here and pack up for bd to achieve average 7% of the market money available on bf just to avoid paying pc2 thenI would expect the financial world to honor me with a golden turkey award for dumbest business move of the year!

but some folk on here seem to know everything that the educated don't!

so if they are doing that why did bf throw the baby out with the bathwater  if its causing problems in the boardroom it is clearly of their own making
why not a much more careful phased approach to cover costs and investment
or are there other adgendas
as I understand it they were not losing money just breaking even with the naughty winners!!!!
or was it a knee jerk reaction to the share price and a panic decision
or is it more the original bf system and its staff leaving/changing and being led by accountants  (does this sound familiar)

Do you think the new PC will be charged across the board or will there be exemptions for customers who BF see as important to their operation, genuine seeders in thin markets etc.

thats because you are less efficient than I was 4 to 10 years ago.

I recall befairs argument against paying more tax/levy than other bookmakers was that they should not be punished for being more efficient.
Now look at me paying 60% whilst other more profitable punters pay only 40% or 20%.  I win £10 on average and pay 60%, other win thousands and pay a lot less. Dont seem fair to me.

P.S. I am not paying 60%, It is uneconomical for me to pay at that rate.

Richard, I don't think there will be exemptions as rules are rules and you cant have one rule for one and another for another!

you say you win £10 on average... but what you do generates extremely consistent non volatile profits...

you say proudly "thats because you are less efficient than I was 4 to 10 years ago"

I did not know efficiency was the target :o)

only 1 in 10,000 users will be charged pc2 and they will still make more from betfair by a country mile than any other betting company long term!

If my business rent or rates were to go up by an unusual amount I would certainly review who i was with
this certainly happened to me on two occasions leading me to buy my own business premises thereby avoiding having to pay rent any more(not rates unfortunately)
You have to realise that some products and resistance to buying them can be very price sensitive. I hope this doesn't screw betfair but I am not sure where they are going with all this price hiking -ther may be other agendas as i said previously

As some of their competition has left PC payer profits should increase to compensate for the extra charges. If a 20% PC payer was used to winning £9k a week but can now win £12k a week the PC increase to 40% doesn't matter. (No I lose one in four weeks please!)

80% of £9k is £7,200 as is 40% of £12k.

The problem is there is no incentive at all for an increase in the number of people losing the £12k because their commission has not dropped and the playing field is no leveller. Therefore the only progress will be for the £250k winnings limit to be reduced to say £100k next PC.

Purple liquidity pre-race has been OK for ages. I believe racecourse bookies channel money through it? PC payers not reliant on in running have been throwing money away betting on here.  There is clearly a bot that arbs between there and here. If you take 2.0 on here but pay 20% you are getting 1.80 but the bot will scoop up requests for say 1.98

Actually I don't think he likes the PC any more than you or any others do.
He is just generally defending the right of BF to make business decisions based on the complete set of facts they have on hand, which none of us conversely have.
And I see no genuine counter arguments ever on here to that very basic, commonsense point.
All I read is personal self interested hysteria.

One thought that I havnt seen posted re PC1 or PC2

Wouldnt the top winners and therefore PC payers be .... bookmakers?

I'm not, Lex.  Just a value seeker, who's fairly disciplined, likes to lay off and has been winning consistently for 4-5 years.  They've effectively said to me "you've had your fun , now you can sod off, or give us half".

Absolutely 1.01, "Winners not welcome" is now the loud and clear message.

Any newbie with more than 2 brain cells who ventures on to these forums will see that and would either think they can beat the system (they cant) or simply want to punt for fun as it easier than a bookie.

My point was - arent (most?) of the top winners bookmakers? If the answer is yes that explains to me the raison d'être at the heart of this. Betdq was ( maybe still is) billy hills main lay off medium of choice for example...

Why would bookies hedging off unwanted liability result in them being amongst the biggest winners on betfair? Confused

Those accounts should, in theory, be about break even before comm.

Betfair is to my mind becoming a bookmaker; but bookmakers use Betfair and cost Betfair money. So; get rid of the bookmaker. The collateral damage along the way (sorry 1.01 Layer and the other PC payers) is worth it to them.

That is my view as to what is going on here.
