No sympathy for Andyl's pc charge from me neither, in fact I'm glad to see BF taking a fair share of that weeks profit after Andyl paid so little in comm.

That's not to say PC is always fair, but in this instance it appears to be. Many non PC punters will be paying a greater percentage of their GP to BF this week than Andyl has paid.

RTTF - and if there is a charge for the way you wager; why should Betfair take the proceeds?

seems strange that pictures get SLOWER. how would ATR profit from that? and as such why would they do it?

I must say this thread is reminding me of the famous TroyMcClure thread, that was, I am pretty certain was a large factor in the building and intorduction of PC1 and PC2

the magician - atr pics slowed down by SIS i believe as SIS need to boost flagging home SIS sales ...many ir players have cancelled in current financial climate recently as SIS is too far behind live track pics....so a deliberate move by SIS to give its punters "an edge" over the home mug player

paulme...that was an exceptional week....what if i do 10k in this week?? how much have i won then ??? people assume cos i won 12k last week 1) i normally win that 2) it's easy and i win every week

i gamble ir for a living i do not thieve i raceread and bet what i think will win...the further out i play the better value i get and the more losing races/bets i have

dohhhhhh

i was told by betfair it would hardly affect me but that i snot true ....is it!!!

On that basis you have a gp of >£550k in your lifetime, Betfair have given you a platform to do this therefore it is fair that they are compensated for doing this.

Someone could say its not fair you sitting in the hotel at Wolves and a box at Southwell and taking money off slow pic players. I think everyone is entitled to try get every advantage you can but you are seeing things thru rose tinted spectacles.

PC2 is bascially determined by the RATE at which you win.... I simply do not win fast enough.

my margins are very small, and profits volatile, as such for the moment, I dont pay

thanks for your replies...captaincutlass - fair point but its not my choice to do that my preferred choice if it ever happens would be to play from home on live pics available to everyone. my lifetime is roughly that

and why should i be charged 40% or more even by the company i use to do my business....they're on effectively as much if not more than i am for taking ZERO RISK....

the magician 2 questions i want to put to you

1) the issue isn't whether premium charge is fair or not...it's the sheer amount one has to pay and the way its calculated taht makes it unfair...betfair win regardless...they take 40% of my gross earnings yet it is me who provides all the capital/risk...all the skills .....all the exes outlay

2) if i have a bad losing week/run like most gamblers do i am penalised heavily under this tax

3) betfair argue its because of players like me that is killing its avergae customers off....so why did they just dream this concept up to tax punters like me for winning >250k considering i never once paid or qualified to pay pcharge before

i tell you why GREED SadCry

Perhaps they never anticipated that punters could be as apparently successful as you have been, in a manner that doesn't adequately reward them for the expense of establishing, administrating, growing the platform you use to achieve this success.
Let me ask you this
1) could you have achieved all this past success with HS bookies, without being banned ?
2) could you have found all the counterparties required for your bets without the BF platform ?.
By:

FAFH - no, the vast majority of my lifetime profits are made from IR betting largely horses...before betfair i was a mug punter and some would argue i still am....so NO....that does not mean though betfair should have a right to earn as much from me as i do for simply providing an interface, an exchange and customers to bet against

does it??? or am i being naive?? would you walk into a HS bookies (that may i add may have only 1-3 customers most evening with 2 staff on and all the heating and lighting and rent expenses ) and then win a ton for the manager to say i am taking £40 quid of that to cover the shops exes and mine LOLOLOL

Just saying andyl that perhaps you already have more to be thankful for from BF than the converse, no matter what the PC means to you in the future.

I would like to know what exactly betfair are going to do with all this extra income they will receive
from pc2 and will general punters ever feel any benefit, also will new customers and those failing to pay pc be given anything in the way of reduced commission or incentive schemes or will the only benefactors  be the elite staff earing bigger fat cat rewards!

also like to know will pc payers get the same service as everyone else though they pay more, and will all betfair users get any improvements to the services or are we all just numbers on a list!

When: 26 Jul 11 23:32
true andyl, my darkest concern about betfair is that if they become too successful from the back of the winners and losers of the system will they pump up there volume and profits long term to allow for a consortium of high street bookmakers to buy them out to eradicate the competition of betfair, how loyal are andy black and co when it comes to making that big sale!
By:

When: 26 Jul 11 23:36
one thing is for sure though as long as Britain is a good place for free enterprise--

[unlike the u.s.a which openly allows the casino industry to pay the senate to bring in laws that ban internet betting, high street bookmakers etc]

-- the exchange model is here to stay and long may it reign whoever takes up the chalice of being the top of the pack in the betting exchange market!

true it wont go done in history as the best public relations move for them, I cant understand however good the betfair exchange is for betting winners, how they justify jumping from 20% pc to 60% pc?

surely if there new pc model was

20% basic pc
30% if ltp/comms 5%&10%

would be 10% in favour of punters and a 50/50 approach to maximum which is the magic share ratio
for a partnership, the sting would of been less and the percentages stack up nicely in raise of 10%

also could lower rates not be applied to those that arent the super earing top 50 and the top 50
pay a top level, also some rebate to those that cant get on the profit ladder!

premium_payer, my reply earlier was deleted.

The point I made (actually pro-bf) was that the pc can be understood as a charge for bettors' continuing use of the site. With yr one week's grace and notice, you can leave, not bet any more and never pay a penny in extra charges that might be thought to pertain only to retrospective activity.
By:
bf_fananatic
When: 27 Jul 11 00:09
possibly premium charge rate vary form 20% to 40% to 50% to hefty 60%, what happened to a 30%, was this just a leap frog move to throw away symmetry and rocket there profits, can anyone on betfair lay claim to paying the magical and mystical  figure of 30% premium charge from there profits or is there
concept based on the theory that regular winners pay v.a.t.(20%) and the rich pay super tax(60%)
30% is not a tax rate lol
By:

When: 27 Jul 11 00:11
bf_fanatic, the merit of the first commission pricing system was surely its simplicity.

Given that most people coming to the site wd have been small punters, the rule was that commission was 5%.

Now nobody thinks it's 5%, yet the small-time recreational players have vastly inflated ideas of what they might be asked to pay based on the scaremongering, fears and experiences of an elite professional few.

Imv it's time for bf to call in commission as now too complicated and go for a robust and comprehensible transaction pricing system.
By:
bf_fananatic
When: 27 Jul 11 00:18
perhaps a scaler system for calculating super pc would of worked better as I reckon the top 500 will be wide variation of lifetime and yearly winning profit values, entry level super pc at 30% ranging up to 60% based on amounts of lifetime profit and not based on commission payment ratio as is now used.
By:
bf_fananatic
When: 27 Jul 11 00:21
if the points system for calculating your commission rate can be scaler with more gears than a HGV
then the super premium charge could of been better thought out!
By:
bf_fananatic
When: 27 Jul 11 00:25
I wouldn't be surprised if the top 50 earning customers earn as much profit as the rest of the top 500 combined so how come they are on the same level of premium charge percentage when clearly they take more out of the system and add less variation in liquidity in different markets as the remaining customers!
By:
bf_fananatic
When: 27 Jul 11 00:33
the premium charge in its lack of equality and its smoke screening effect of hiding that 60% is there main target point purely to a profit grabbing exercise and I estimate the majority of customers on here know that as its so blatant, lets hope somehow that this money will come back to the winners and all users of betfair in the future via some plot on a graph but acknowledgement of this possibility and a more user friendly approach to the induction of these charges for betfair customers I very much doubt will ever surface, fiscal dark forces are at play fellow betfairians!
By:
bf_fananatic
When: 27 Jul 11 00:40
one thing you can bet on is that this wont be the last carnation of the premium charge and when the next arrives I and many would hope it would be revamped, made fairer and more scaler and not just dump everyone into the premium charge blues as has been the case so often, no one likes medicine but it helps when its made sweeter!

I just don't like it when people call others cheats when they break no rules.
People will always have different time delays on whatever media they are watching around the world.
Would you call people betting from their mobiles in a football stadium cheats just because they have a few seconds advantage over the ones watching in their livingroom ?
Would you call a Brit betting on Wimbledon tennis from his living room a cheat as his tv pictures could very well  be a few seconds ahead of someone watching elsewhere in the world ?

Betfair the bookmaker are the ones accepting bets that cannot win and it's they who are the cheats.
