f*cking greedy bastards! building their capacity through us and spitting on our head now.
who paid fortunes of commission? who delivered the huge liquidity to generate new customers? it have been those people, who are now getting f*cked. |
By:
Done for 40% - im gobsmacked - so is this going to be implented as the previous pc, 40% on your net profits for the week - how can anyone sustain 40-60% - absolute disgrace
By:
40% here. Utter ****s.
By:
It's called marginalization and it's something Betfair is very good at.
By:
That may well be the end of my career on here.
Cheers Betfair. |
By:
I psychologically refrained from several bets since 20%, 40%, no chance.
By:
There is now an official post about this by Betfair in this forum.
By:
how do you work out if your 40 or 50% ? my total charges % is currently 19.71
By:
Definitely mine Contrarian. Probably a blessing in disguise. We should all combine with our profits and create a rival exchange with a Sheikh venture capitalist.

Lifetime commission generated
to gross profits ratio Applicable Premium Charge rate < 5% 60% 5% - 10% 50% > 10% 40% You're 40% JF. |

It strikes me that 0.1% of active customers is actually a fairly high amount. Can't help but think they are in trouble. The rates are up to 60%, and I don't think there's any way it's justifiable to make more out of someone's efforts on here than that person make themselves.
They have gone from wanting a bigger cut of profits (arguably this is justifiable) to wanting to actively drive away certain customers. |
By:
Johnny, I think you'll have to find the the % yourself by looking at Actual Gross PL and Commission Generated.
By:
@johnny fontaine, you need to log into terms.betfair.com it will tell you what you are going to be hit for.
By:
60% lol
By:
Come on. If you're in the 60% zone after a 1,000 markets it's a statistical certainty that you're a bent horse racing punter, or a hoovering scumbag. Either way they should pay it.
By:
It may be only 0.1 % of customers but it's certainly not 0.1 % of liquidity, huge mistake from BF this.
By:
loving the specious reasons for the increase.
what a joke. i could just about sympathise with the reasons for the original 20% but this ridiculous. if you want a share of my winnings to develop the exchange, i would like to be consulted and involved in the approval process on how you're going to spend them and not spunk them up the wall. |
By:
Let's hope the Daq get their arse in gear soon and provide a decent alternative. ****g over the people who've provided liquidity for years to make the site what it is isn't the best of ideas, no wonder their share price is bottoming out.

By:
cheers RMB. Thought that was the case. SO fast picture merchants going to be on sixty then and tick traders/scalpers then.
By:
Paying for Andy Gray's and Micheal Vaughn's salary doesn't sit well with you either than DStyle?!
By:
Not necassarily RMB.
It depends the average commission generated by JF If I ever got to 250K I'd almost certainly be on 60%. |
By:
"if you want a share of my winnings to develop the exchange"
-- Let's not pretend that's what the PC is all about. |
By:
just because your current total is 19-20% does not mean you pay 40% as it will include pc paid. They actually look at comm generated. I know of a case where someone is 20% on the premium charge page but on lifetime at terms.betfair.com is on ~9% so will be paying 50%.
By:
Yup. Scumbags on 60% a pleasing development. Long term punters who are fairly shrewd and work hard on 40%, no so pleasing.

By:
Laughable 'justification'
By:
Not true RMB.
People who are very efficient and specialise and lose on very few markets will be on 60% too. I will be if ever get to 250K profit and win at a similar rate as now. |

Betfair and I have had a shocker here. ![]() Driven away from bookies as they won't take a bet, the novel idea of the exchange was perfect, now look at it. 50% tax. Shocker. |
By:
ffs it gets worse how do you work it out then ?
By:
Had this charge been implemented since I opened my account 10 years ago I would have paid an extra £150k to betfair. Instead of getting £100k a year from me they will now get nothing.
By:
RMB- it's perfectly possible to be in any of those bands without being a cheat, we should be clear on that. Yes, it's a very high strike rate, but if you trade on a small number of mid or long-term markets such as test matches or golf tournaments and do it well it's perfectly possible to get that strike-rate without being a cheat.
Obviously if you have that strike rate across large numbers of horse races etc then something fishy is going on. |
By:
My commission generated figure/gross lifetime profit is less than 4%
That's the figure that matters. Not the Total charges figure which will always be around 20% |
By:
Johnny, I think you'll have to find the the % yourself by looking at Actual Gross PL and Commission Generated.
By:
The people saying it won't effect me so I don't care and they deserve to pay it just think who they will try and get more money out of next....
By:
Wot total bossman says.
The figure you need to look at is commission generated JR and then divide it by lifetime profit. Then you know if you'll be on 40,50 or 60% |
By:
JF* even
By:
Still pisses me off greatly that they use commission generated rather than commission paid too.
By:
They're making phone calls to affected customers now to advise them of the new charges. Just got my call and had to stop myself heading into a 5 minute rant. Maybe they should give it a couple of days to sink in before calling people!
By:
Gives me 21.16 ? what does this mean then
By:
40% for you JF.
By:
Means you shouldn't be paying PC at all.
