I doubt it's an error viva, but will only apply for the purposes of working out the £250K winnings criteria. It's possible they'd have got into allsorts of trouble using the generated comm figure to work out actual £250K, plus it works in their favour as alot of the bigger staking players will be on below the 3% implied comm rate and the implied rate will earn them more off losers than they actually paid.
By:
are they actually switching to commission paid rather than generated?
No. HTH. |
By:
viva they are not switching...commission paid only applies to the net profit of £250k
By:
you have to fear for all liquidity on the site that isnt automated

thats what the other place is like clydebank a couple of large bots in a desert, could it get that bad here,i guess only time will tell
By:
clydebank..... my portal says gross profit 207,000 charges 41k
does that mean even when i get to 250k gross profit i can still win musch more b4 paying new rate ? thx |
By:
40-60 percent is a joke ....
if there is only a small percentage of pople like they say ... surely target them that are courtsiders or cheating as there can be only a few ... why spoil it for everyone |
By:
i read that email like many thought WTF !
there greed will only increase ... expect more charges in the future dont expect quack to ever do anything ... they have a chance but never willing to to do anything |
By:
Rs1, this has nothing to do with courtsiders ore "cheats".
It's all about increasing Betfair's bottom line and that can only be done on customers behalf. |

You would need to use another persons name and bank account, a totally new static ip-address preferably linked to this new users name and address, a new computer and probably even more things I don't know about. Eddie, why would I need to use a new ip address if it is my wife's account? I can provide them with all the documents they require to show them that it is another person. What can BF do about this? Can they charge me 40%, if they see that I use the same ip address? |

who here will be affected? as a mug punter i couldnt care less

By:
markets that are priced on derivatives and high turnover will survive fine, but smaller markets will need liquidity provided by new players coming in and not sure there will any near enough of them
By:
they can link the accounts for PC purposes alexandru, then it would be up to you to go to law to stop them taking the money. and good luck with that.
By:
its net profit not gross aspy
By:
Alexandru, yes to that. I think they will link all accounts from the same household, at least in the case you are talking about.
By:
Alexandru---no doubt you're wife will have exactly the same betting style as yourself.
By:
this greed will only increase ... have far can they go
at the moment ... if u make 100 pounds ... you have to give betfair 60 pounds back plus here 5 percent commission another 5iver so thats every 100 u make u only get 35 pounds ... is that correct !? |

Replies: 1638 28 Jun 11 16:12 viva they are not switching...commission paid only applies to the net profit of £250k ------------ help me out here clydebank (or anyone), because I don't know what that means. what specifically will count as commission paid against PC liability? |
By:
The problem with their theory is that it isn't the big players who end up paying the charge. I have in the past paid it, but now I pass it on to the average Joe in the market. And now they are upping it, I will pass on even more. So I don't pay the charge, but the average user of the site does.
By:
No change in the way they use implied comms for the PC charges viva, it's just for the criteria of having won £250K net winnings off the site that they'll use the actual comms paid and PC charges already paid.
By:
not true, pumpkin. as feck rightly pointed out once (!), if you could just pass the charge on by scaling up everything, why would you wait for the PC to be introduced to do that?
By:
pumpkin, you may have been able to pass on 20% at a push but 60%!!!!!
By:
thanks GJ. so... you hit 250K when your gross profit minus PC, minus "other charges", minus actual lifetome commission paid goes over that amount?
By:
Personally I have created new projects that have just over 2% profitability. There would be no point running them usually, but they off set ther charge nicely. I agree old projects cannot be scaled up, but new projects can be found. Before there was no motivation to look for high volume very low return projects, now there is. And it isn't just theory. I do this myself, and I know of others who do too.
By:
so you're working to pay the charge.
By:
I agree 60% would be challenging, but mine is going to 40% and I have no intention of paying a penny.
By:
My bots are placing bets that will cover the charge generated from very profitable projects.
By:
shocking stuff
By:
not true, pumpkin. as feck rightly pointed out once (!), if you could just pass the charge on by scaling up everything, why would you wait for the PC to be introduced to do that?
-------------------------------- What about bets that are break-even after commission? Your net profit is zero so there would be no point in doing them, but if you need to avoid PC you benefit from the increased commission generated. Other customers would have a net loss from these bets. |
By:
fair enough, but that's assuming you value your time and resources at zero.
By:
That's true, but for the amount I will same I am happy to give some time to it.
By:
I send them an email 7 hours ago, asking how much will I be paying if I make 5000 pounds in a week under new 40% charge. Still no answer...
By:
40% here, sickening.

Feck N. Eejit
This new charge will bring in 100's of new high staking customers (NAP). Rate reply: Feck N. Eejit Sorry, meant to say accounts, not customers. Well, possibly for the first time ever I agree with you. It's not clear that is good for betfair though, or indeed anyone. |
By:
the irony of the whole evasion thing is, if one person avoids paying by covertly betting on two accounts, that counts as 2 non-payers for BF propaganda purposes.
By:
impossible to keep on betting in these conditions.
any other web where we can discuss this topic? |

impossible to keep on betting in these conditions. any other web where we can discuss this topic? is somewhere forgot where ... but betfair wll be still watching to see what everyone trying to do ! |
By:
exactly all people who care about a true betting exchange need to have another forum to discuss this on without being moderated... I'm trying to get a facebook group page set up but have never done it before so bare with me, unless someone else can do it quicker please. You could save yourself a fortune by getting it up, you never know.
By:
I'll probably transfer all my betting to another service. I bet mainly on football, so the liquidity over there for the big games should be adequate. I'll also be taking my bank and it's associated interest payments.
By:
Purple place has a forum. BF will read it of course, they're probably already there watching for dissent. Loose lips sink ships etc
![]() At this rate you'll be as paranoid as Feck. (no offence )) |
