Good day today. You seem a bit down hearted judging by your earlier comments. Two of the main reasons for failing with the plan are 1) Not having enough resources to see you through a losing run 2) Getting easily fed up with the inevitable losing run. If you look at Maria's results the bank reached a high on Day 40 and did not reach a new high until day 104. So it took two months to increase the bank to a new high. Also 36.96% of total laying days were losing days that is slighlty more than 1in 3. You must be prepared to flog this to death for a year and endure the losing days. Not easy though. If you have to reduce your stakes due to a losing run your new bank would be € 639.04. But at that you are still showing a profit of € 139.04 on your original starting bank of € 500. Not bad considering you have had a bad run. The Maria thread looks great in hinsight but the reality of laying is different. If it was ever achieved who knows. Maybe not. But if you can come up with the selections and using the staking plan who knows. Some prices you take will be shorter than SP and some will be higher. It should balance itself out. You should be prepared to lose the bank of €500. If it is money you cannot afford to lose then that's a problem and could affect your approach. Alas! Keep going. I want you to prove that is can be done. So at least give it a try over a year. If you don't try you will never succeed. Regards Trademate |

Jeezz, I cannot believe you lot.
The Maria 'System' was a marketing exercise for EBA. |

Hi Trademate, I hear what you are saying and I appreciate your comments. I must admit you read my reply's correctly I was a bit sick not of the system but of the ridiculous 500/1 shots winning and the multiple 1/50's getting beaten by my selections. I kept telling myself that this can’t keep happening and that I wasn’t doing anything wrong in selecting horses to get beat that trade at 500/1 and then somehow get up and beat you. But when you are on a bad run you just think everything is going against you and you are destined to fail. Therefore, I wasn’t that keen to throw away my initial £500.
So in that respect, I think I was definitely guilty of no 2 on your list of reasons for failure...however I think this was because it wasn’t just the losing I have accepted losing days in the past it was the manner in which they were losing days and the scale of the loss. The £500 I put up to start I was more than prepared to lose but when I almost doubled it and then hit the BAD run I was thinking well I’m not just going to throw it away. I never watched one of the races today, I went to the pub and watched the football didn’t even look for the results until I came in tonight (maybe that is better!). Like I said I will continue until I at least hit the 35% at which point I will make a decision as to carry on or not (hopefully that decision won’t need to be made). If the bank never reaches the 35% of a bank high then there is no danger that I will continue, we had a good day today let’s hope it continues! Once again thanks for your comments they really do help! Cheers |

To answer a question on here.
maria laid most of here horses around the middle 3.6>7.4. If you work out the average of those two prices its 5.5 ;-) And you dont have to beat BFSP ALL of the time, as long as you beat it some of the time. Over the course of a year it make's a BIG difference. How i got my name.. Well someone said it to me in a PM and i liked it..This is why it was said. On Adrian Massey site i Beat the highest score that has EVER been done on the laying competition. maria came nowhere near me.(It was to prove a point to a mate) http://www.adrianmassey.com/bb/viewtopic.php?t=7757&start=300 Never bothered again.Am says there is a Prize for the winner.. yet there is not anything.. Its a joke apparently. To talk about the process of laying horses, the right price, why, etc would take ages tbh. Im not really a betting man tbh, i like working on stats.I did post some things on my forum, and still do from time to time. :-) |

Thats 4 winning days in a row but it was this Thu last week when the wheels fell off a bit. Be nice to get over this week with a positive monthly balance!

Yes you are gaining ground again. It's going to be slow and steady progress with blips like last week happening along the way. It's not a get rich quick scheme. Looks easy on paper in hindsight but when you actually sit down to do it yourself it is a different story. Don't even look at your balance each day. One days results are only part of a bigger picture so just try to accept the blips as part of the overall plan and try not get downhearted on the bad days. Best of luck and keep it going. It will be interesting to see where it leads to. Regards Trademate |

Cheers Trademate, you are right it is a "marathon not a sprint" and another small gain today adds to the coffers!!

I am not going to be doing any selections today...had a few technical difficulties this morning and haven't had time to make the selections. Rather than rush it I am going to have today off and come back on Saturday.

Anybody got to £100k yet?
No? Hardly surprising, neither did 'Maria'. |

The phantom Maria.
Mmmnnn, that's a thought. |

Toma!
Good day today. Keep going don't mind the doubters. At least your giving it a shot. See where it ends up , just stick to the game plan and take the bad days in your stride. Regards Trademate |

By:
Cheers Trademate, That's exactly what I intend to do. Today was great day and along the road no doubt there will be disasters like last week. However, all we can do is work hard, stick to the plan and see where it takes us.
Thanks again mate! |

Hi citizen kane, I was just wondering how far you got on your two attempts and what eventually stopped you?

Surely the MLS is flawed due to staking according to set amounts which depend on Exchange odds of horse.
The BF odds do not generally tell you what that horse's real chance of winning a race is.........and if say a horse is 3.4 and you automatically lay it to 1% of bank liability, then this is a mechanical way to lay. No account is taken to evaluate how much "value" there is in the odds of 3.4 in that particular race. If there are say 12 runners in one race and 40 in another race and the odds are 3.4........do you lay mechanically to the set scale undr MLS???? 1% of bank risk? The method is just flawed IMO...... If you don't take the complexity of each race into account in deciding how much to risk on a lay....and bet like a zombie ....there can only be one result ....eventual wipe out of bank. Would have thought that if you truly have an "edge" re horse racing, that applying KELLY STAKING is "way to go"......... Anyway GL with trying the MLS out....but I've no doubt whatsoever ...it is flawed. G M the noooooooooooooo |

I think it was one big con like someone else has said.Go on massey site and ask her questions.. She will baffle you with maths and go on about value.. You WONT get a straight answer. And if you DARE to upset her you will get banned. aint that the truth. all that bull about my father does this my father does that, we all know that beautiful blonde "Maria" is really some fat bald geezer from somewhere like Darlington![:o] |

Dfcironman
Can you outline the Kelly staking plan for me please. Regards Trademate |
|
By:
Hi Trademate
Here is a link to a Kelly calculator http://www.seriousbet.co.uk/calculators/kelly_staking If it shows a NEGATIVE figure for STAKE at bottom right, then it can be used for LAYING purposes. Main thing is that it takes account of 1. BANK position. 2. ODDS available to lay at/or back at. 3. Makes you make a decision re the WIN PROBABILITY of horse.........OK this obviously cannot be precise....but if you do have a large EDGE on horse racing, then you should be capable of doing this etc. all of the above. Trust this helps a wee bit. Gl with bets |
|
By:
If Maria's story was true (and it's a big if) she was successful solely because of the prices she managed to lay at. It had nothing to do with the so-called staking "system" (which surely amounts to little more than a rudimentary fixed lability with ratchet).
|
|
By:
Yes Slarty, i recall someone ran a test of her selections at the claimed prices with different staking systems and the results were similar or even better.
|
|
By:
Why would somebody waste 300 days of there life calculating winnings that were never places? Also im sure if it was fake then somebody would of seen horses that did not win, she posted her stakes before the races.
|
|
By:
never posted the prices before racing though

|
By:
Toma ... Why cant you just post the few selections that you are sure of, instead of having no selections at all ?
Surely out of your 10 selections one or two where as confident as your normal days selections? |
|
By:
Hi alert,
The problem wasn't that I wasnt confident with any of my selections they were all selected based on my usual criteria. It was more that the make up of the racing today (in my opinion) didn't lend itself to the Maria Laying system or my version of it at least. Most of the time I felt exposed as if there wasn't much going to help me get my selection beat and my average odds today were 3/1 (4.0) for 10 races (they have never been that low). I never at any point this morning felt that I would get enough right to cover the inveitable failures (at those odds). As it turned out I would have had a winning day with 8 out of the 10 being beat but only returning a very small % profit. So in that respect I was wrong to leave them today....but we all know that gambling is much easier after the event .In the future, if this happens again and people want me to I am happy to post my selections but just make sure everyone knows they are NOT TO BE ADDED INTO THE RESULTS! I have no problem with that if that would help anyone. Apologies for today but hopefully back to normal tomorrow! Cheers Alan |

Well done. Don't force youself to lay horses. If the bets feel wrong leave them alone there is always to-morrow. A day off doesn't hurt now and again to re charge the batteries. Regards Trademate |

Two bad days Fri & Sat. However these are going to occur, they are painful but they should be put in the context of a years results. Hope things pick up tomorrow. Regards Trademate |

Cupid stunts, listen up.
The 'Maria' System was a losing system. Prices were manipulated. Dissenters were banned. Latvia, LMFAO. |

Whatever Tomma achieves or does not achieve will have FA to do with 'Maria'.
EBA, got a result. It was a smoke and mirrors job, no more, no less. |
