Good afternoon.
Have been really rough for 11 days now, but feel 'slightly' improved today, having crawled out of bed after 16 hours in it since last night, so yes, I got up at about 2.00 this afternoon! On a personal level, it seems I'm having nothing but bad luck and bad news at the moment, so hopefully, Cheltenham can be a welcome distraction from all the sh*t that is going on. I've already made most of my decisions about what I would like to back and don't anticipate any major changes as long as the ones I've pencilled in do run on the day in the correct races. As for Tuesday, a great opening day, and I am 'hopeful' that we will get good runs from my list. I see no reason not to stick with Cinders in the opener, although I also expect big runs from Trifolium, Steps To Freedom and Tetlami. I've always been on the side of Al Ferof for the Arkle and still feel confident about that one. The Champion Hurdle is tricky, and Hurricane Fly is a very good horse. I've always thought that Rock On Ruby will be suited by this race and I think he can go close. At a big price, I also feel that Brampour can be fighting out the finish and the prices on offer for that, do seem a tad high. 1.30 Cinders And Ashes 9/1 (nb) 2.05 Al Ferof 3/1 (Nap) 2.40 Hold On Julio 13/2 3.20 Rock On Ruby 10/1 Maybe for later if not demoralised after the first four! 4.00 Sizing Australia 5/1 4.40 Swincombe Flame 14/1 ![]()

Good evening.
Well done BB and thanks DF. Very unlucky today with two 2nds, but good to be in with a shout with both for most of the way. SDC does look to be very good, and Riverside Theatre, the best two and half miler about (that can't run well at Cheltenham) did! Oscar Whisky ran a good race but didn't stay the 3 miles, and this one is the best two and half mile hurdler in training. Great to see Big Bucks make it 4/4 though. What a horse! Tomorrow, things have fallen into place for me with my picks and I just hope I'm not too wide of the mark, with some good prices available. 1.30 Hollow Tree 18/1 ew 2.40 Grand Vision 33/1 ew 3.20 Midnight Chase 12/1 ew Another good day in prospect for tomorrow, fingers crossed. ![]()

Good evening.
It's that time of year again where the racing is a bit 'iffy' to say the least. However, I still think I've managed to find a couple of interest. No long write-ups though, I've done the work, I've had a long day and I'm worn out. Need to chill and unwind a bit. Lingfield 2.25 Pale Orchid generally 8, 9, and 10/1 Newb 2.40 Josh's Dreamway generally 12 and 14/1 ![]()

I like Pale Orchid FB but I am going to have a daft ew bet on Kickingthelilly in the same race @ 33/1. Jockey and trainer a touch out of sorts but it is a max rated so I cannot resist those odds. Good luck with yours.

Good evening.
Once again, no long write-ups. Have done the work, and you'll be pleased to know, it's the two hardest races of the day. Donc 2.05 Kiwi Bay at least 22/1 available. Donc 3.15 Start Right generally 12/1. Other short listed horses for this, Don't Call Me, Stevie Thunder and Shavansky. Will be keeping stakes sensible being the start of the season. ![]()

Good evening
Just the two for me tomorrow at Kempton and I think they are both interesting at reasonable prices. In the 2.05, Maverik returns to Kempton and runs off bottom weight. The second and third from that last race here have both come out and won since and the form seems to be ok. I think the 7/1 on offer seems to be fair and I would be surprised if this one isn't thereabouts towards the finish. In the 3.15, the Gosden horses will have plenty of supporters and are favs for this at the mo. However, I think the Gary Moore horse, Right Stuff is the one to be on and this one is currently available at 8/1. Again, a big run expected. ![]()

Hello again.
Grand National. You may remember sometime ago about me banging on about Planet Of Sound for the Hennessy and how I was confident he should run a big race in that. Well, he didn't win, but, he did run well as expected in second for a nice ew return. The reason for my confidence was his record at tracks like Newbury. His record there or at similar now reads 122111112. Once again on Saturday, he is set to run in the biggest chase of his life at the biggest galloping track he will ever run at and providing he puts in a clear round, I am very hopeful he will at the very least run into a place. At current odds of 40/1, I think it is well worth the risk and a big run is once again expected based on previous exploits. Obviously, on trends and other criteria, there are several others I could mention as well, suffice it to say, my pick is one of the few class acts in the race, and as over recent years the winning weight appears to be creeping up, I don't think 11st 5lbs is a major problem. 40/1 is simply to big to ignore and he is certainly good enough to win this. Bet: Planet Of Sound ew @40/1 generally. ![]() t2, as for the lack of success since Cheltenham, it was to be expected! ![]() I expect things to settle down shortly and have been betting to low stakes since then. Most of my time is spent laying and trading anyway nowadays. Am happy enough at the mo, anyway. ![]()

Good luck with that BB.
As for tomorrow, I couldn't resist a nibble on What A Friend in the Bowl at 3.05. 9 or 10/1 is way too big a price and he should go well. Too many question marks over many of the others. ![]()

Good evening.
Grand National 4.15: Planet Of Sound. Still a bit of 40/1 floating around. Feeling quite good now with the Hobbs horses running well. In the 3.25. Found what I think is a good bet, but have missed the best prices earlier. Someone else obviously likes this. A small pattern maybe developing on sharp tracks for this one and is worth chancing at 12/1. The horse is Saint Are and I think a good run could come from this one in what is quite an awful race. We shall see. ![]()

Good evening,
In the main, a pretty good day last Saturday, with Saint Are running a great race and winning at a good price. That of course, set things up nicely for a potential big priced double in the big race, but alas, it was not to be, although I thought Planet Of Sound ran a cracking race as expected, only to run out of petrol close to home. I'm sure that one could well have another decent win in him under the right circumstances. As for tomorrow in the Scottish National at 3.25, I've looked long and hard at this, and of course there are several that have great claims including Merigo who is sure to go well at Ayr yet again. However, I keep coming back to Portrait King which seems to be a different horse since stepping up in trip to these sort of distances and hopefully will run another big race. 8 and 9/1 is currently available for this one. Down at Newbury in the Spring Cup at 3.45, I am sure the rain softened ground will only aid the claims of Fury who I am sure is due to run a big race with conditions greatly in his favour. His third last time out was a good run and I'm sure that race will have put him spot on for this. Over recent years the race seems to have started to favour better quality horses, and to be honest, this race isn't exactly overflowing with decent horses, so if Fury can't win this, then I really don't know what he's likely to win this year apart from some weak conditions race maybe. 6/1 at the mo having missed the 7's earlier which didn't last long. 3.25 Portrait King 9/1 3.45 Fury 6/1 ![]()

Good evening.
Just the two for tomorrow, up at Ripon in the 2.20, The Osteopath still has conditions to suit, and although starting to get on in years, can run another big race off a winning mark. 9/1 still available and I am sure this one will go well again. In the Whitbread at Sandown, due off at 3.10, one leapt off the page at me earlier in the week and I'm not changing my mind. Philip Hobbs knows what it takes to win this and he can take this race again with the lightly raced Roalco De Farges off a decent weight and is available at 10/1. ![]()

Good evening.
The flat racing really takes off this weekend at Newmarket with some top quality races due to take place with of course, the 2000 Guineas tomorrow and the 1000 Guineas on Sunday. There are quite a few I like the look of for tomorrow including Meandre (Newm), Vita Nova (Goodw), The Osteopath (Thirsk) and Margot Did (Newm). However, I only want to back a couple tomorrow, and I've decided to go with Fury again in the 2.00 at Newmarket to start with. I am confident this one is a winner waiting to happen now and I think if ridden a bit closer this time, the extra furlong and the still favourable ground will see this one run well again tomorrow. 5/1 is a fair price. In the 2000 Guineas at 3.10, I have long been a fan of Power, and on my figures anyway, I think this is the one they all have to beat. Still available in double figures and I will be surprised if he's not in the frame. I'll finalise my selections for Sunday, tomorrow evening. ![]()

Good morning.
Decided to go for the hardest races of the day, which I found easy to sort out?! In the Victoria Cup at Ascot 3.25, Bonnie Brae has a good draw, likes the ground, with best speed figures on the current going, has a good jockey and assuming the horse is fit enough, being fto, should go close in this I think. 12/1 At Haydock in the 3.40 Ubi Ace should have his ground again on a track that should suit. I think his last 2 runs can be safely ignored and if back to his best, should go very close today. 14/1

A near miss last week, and of course, one that's been backed twice this season, Fury, goes and wins un-backed at York! A usual, two for tomorrow, one at Newmarket and one at Newbury. 2.45 Newm Dark Castle 16/1 3.05 Newb Expense Claim 8/1 ![]() |
