Good evening.

Not the best Saturdays racing again, but better than nothing and a few interesting races.

I expect Our Mick to go well at Haydock, while down at Ascot I would be surprised if Kentford Grey Lady doesn't win also.
In the VC chase, as far as I am concerned, any one of 4 or 5 horses could win this, but a repeat performance from last year could see Somersby go close again, but as I say, I could make a case for a few more. In the following handicap, I was tempted with Zaynar, which is plenty short enough in the betting, whilst over again at Haydock, I'm hoping Consigliere doesn't make a fool of me again by winning it's race there, once again for me, a question mark against the distance of the race, otherwise, another good chance.

So, I've settled on two for this week, one at Haydock and one at Ascot, both I think with very good chances at reasonable prices.

Haydock 2.20  Radmores Revenge  7/1

Ascot  2.35  Joseph Lister  7/1

Fingers crossed

Good evening.

Hope the weather isn't going to cause any probs tomorrow, although I suppose it's about time we had a bit of winter.

Have had a good look for tomorrow and think the Argento is looking fairly open, but think Midnight Chase could go close if back to last years form.

In the 2.50 at Donny, 'The Great Yorkshire Chase',  Qianshan Leader 7/1, looks to have an excellent chance in this, racing off a nice weight, and  must go close if putting in a clear round. Won in a very fast time last time out and the stable are quietly confident if the ground doesn't soften too much.

In the 3.10 at Chelts, I have the race between Broadbackbob, Batonnier and Forgotten Gold. Preference is for Batonnier 7/1, who came 2nd to Barbatos last time, beating Forgotten Gold in the process. This time around, Batonnier has an even bigger weight advantage and I can't see any reason why the form will be reversed. If this race had been over 2m, then Broadbackbob would have been a very confident selection and is currently my top 2m novice hurdler, why it isn't going for the Supreme is beyond me, and I really don't think this one is fast enough over this trip to win tomorrow. Thanks for the vote of confidence DF!Laugh Am a bit miffed I didn't back MC as well though, even if I had just slipped it in for a small double, and that's not the only one that slipped through the net for me on Saturday (no aftertiming here). My personal life has been getting in the way of my 'hobby' alot over the last couple of years, but am hoping that very soon I'll be able to start giving it the time it deserves once more. I was shocked when I saw the price of Batonnier also, and did consider having a bit more on, but discipline won the day there! Still have alot of work to do to get my database up to date with my speed figures, but am slowly getting there, having let it slide for such a long time now. Hopefully have everything in place for Chelters. Happy

Good morning.

Am not sure if I'll be doing any for today, if I do, I shall post later this morning. Glad I didn't waste time last night trying to come up with something for FL today. No lays either for me, so going to be a very 'flat' day. May well look a bit more at possible ap bets for Chelters.

Good evening,

I won't dwell on the lost meeting at Newbury, all it means is I've had to do more work to find a couple of reasonable ones up at Musselburgh instead.

In the 2.35, I can't for the life of me understand why More Equity is double the odds of Everaard unless I've missed something obvious (different jockey maybe), a good run expected. Best odds at the mo 11/1.

In the 3.45 Dontpaytheferryman is a confident selection and I expect a big run, fingers crossed. 10/1 at the mo in a place. Ubi Ace could also run well.

These poorer quality races are always a bit iffy to assess, but hopefully, I'm not too wide of the mark!

BB, you have no idea how much I was kicking myself for not doing Everaard in that race! A max in every sense of the word, not only with Sir Clive, but also highest on my speed figs. I was too easily influenced by the price and weight factor with More Equity and that has cost me a nice little winner as well as a nice little place double. What an idiot! Everaard should have been the bet for me and I hold my hands up for a stupid decision.

Oh well, always next time. Laugh

Good afternoon.

Great to see that the important races from the abandoned meeting have been saved, and tomorrow looks to be a great days racing.

In the 12.40, I've always maintained that Long Run is slow and was lucky to win the Gold Cup last year. Nothing has changed and I think he is very vulnerable tomorrow and I shall be laying him. Finding a possible winner though against him is a bit more tricky. Buton Port has a great record in small fields and if back to his best, will be going close, as will What A Friend, although I think the course and small field might be against him. Tidal Bay is plenty fast enough, but I'm not sure if the pace will be quick enough. So, that brings me to a dodgy jumper and one that might not quite get the trip, The Giant Bolster. I gave this one a very high speed figure last time out over 2m 5f and I believe strongly, that if a) he put's in a clear round and b) gets the trip, he will win. Well worth risking at odds of 10/1 or more.

In the  1.15, again, a highly competetive race, and of course based on last years form, Zarkandar should go very close. However, I could make a case for half a dozen in this. I've always believed that Via Galilei was ideal for this race and still do, but I'm not sure so much now that he can win a race this hot. I'm much more interested in one of the lighter weighted progressive ones that, to my mind, has already run in a race that I think has possibly thrown up the next Champion Hurdle winner. The form has already been franked at Ascot in December (albeit in a slow time) with Raya Star winning the Ladbroke, and I strongly believe that Empire Levant is going to run a big race tomorrow and that odds of 14/1 are an absolute steal, especially as Raya Star is well fancied and only 8/1!

The Giant Bolster  10/1

Empire Levant  14/1

Am working tomorrow, so will have to watch the recording when I get home, what a nice way to start the weekend!

Good evening.

No long write ups tonight.

Haydock 2.10  Brindisi Breeze  7/2

Ascot  3.35  Swincombe Flame  9/2

Both should go well, high speed  figs, strong form,  etc etc.

Very tired. need to go to bed.

Haydock 2.10 Ambion Wood 8/1 & Ascot 3.35 Smad Place 4/1 are top on my speed figures.

Maybe put them with your two Fastbearform - 4 x 10£ doubles (all BOG with Boilsports).

Hi t2,

Smad Place very high on my figs also and of course has a very serious chance. The clincher for me was that as well as BB having the high figures, has run far faster than anything else on the card at his last two meetings and seems to be progressing very well and of course the ground is ideal.

Good luck t2. Happy

Your disappointment regarding the SP should be tempered by the fact that Hunt Ball wasn't a max rated selection anyway as its last two form figures were 21.

Kempton 2.00

Grumeti can also go well, but no bet for me at the price.

Stormy Weather 2.55 Newcastle is also a 13pt top rated, will go with this also if I can get 4/1
for a daft ew bet I am having Busy Isit 2.30 Kempton @ 16/1, C&D winner form 111d/1P trainer 100% record here and I like the jockey Felix De Giles

Well done with Forceful Appeal, Burt. A very good pick.

As for Buck Magic, thought the ride he was given was nothing short of abysmal and I'm sure it cost me another winner. No complaints about the other one though, never looked like winning coming up the straight. Oh well, back to laying again tomorrow, didn't have any today.

Am feeling a bit better today, I think the worst is over.

Good morning.

Talking of laying, which is something I started to get involved with last year, I do have one for today.
I don't normally post them on here as I'm never that confident they are going to lose. Having said that, since September 2011, which is when I started, I haven't been doing too badly up until now. It's more of a long term experiment for me than anything, as I only average around 6 lays a week owing to my very strict criteria for qualifiers. Fwiw, todays lay is Howaboutnow at 5.20. Like I said earlier, I'm never that confident that they will lose, but most of them seem to, well, up until now anyway.

GL with that FB will keep an eye on your lays, tried it once and got stung. Forceful Appeal actually drifted out to 7's at one point but I wasn't in to take advantage of it. I also had an ew double with Ebanour so not too bad a result.

I try not to trade out Burt. However, some races look more dodgy than others, like yesterdays, which definately looked to be a two horse race. They of course finished 1,2. I saw the chance to trade for a small profit, so took it. I normally leave the lay in place though, yesterday I was lucky.
