As mentioned earlier I am going to record stakes/profits at level stakes and also using Marias Staking Plan using the following: £5,000 Starting Bank Prices below 3.5: lay to 1% of bank - backer's stake £50 Prices from 3.6 to 7.4: lay to 0.6% of bank - backer's stake £30 Prices from 7.5 to 11: lay to 0.4% of bank - backer's stake £20 I am now going to submit all lays posted since start of this thread using these stakes. Obviously using this staking method will not produce pfofits on par with level stakes but it will give you a maximum liability for each price bracket - which I have found to be very helpful regarding P+L swings. It is much easier on the mind and not to mention the bank balance to lay an 11.0 chance to lose £200 rather than £500 or £1000 if using level £50 or £100 stakes. Although on the other hand, if you are confident of your ability to consistently pick winning lays then you should not be worried and take the rough with the smooth when occasionally laying an 11.0 chance that wins! A lot of people have the mindset that you should actually lay the higher prices for higher stakes given their true chance of winning is substantially less than that of say a 3.0 chance... I am now going to work through all qualifying posted lays using Marias Staking to give an idea of profits. And will continue to record results using both level stakes and MSP on a daily basis. Good Morning....
As previously posted I am using ratchet staking along with MSP. Up until now I have been adjusting stakes daily or if there is an evening card at the end of afternoon racing...although this makes a huge positive difference on the profits, I have been working through increasing stakes after each bet. I know not everybody can do this due to work commitments/no pc access during the day or for the fact that not everyone wants to sit glued to their screen all day during racing, however, if you can recalculate stakes after each winning bet the long term profits could be remarkable. Compounding in this way is well known and there have been lots of threads detailing this eg 1% a day, 10% a day etc. It starts off slowly but if you can maintain your winning strategy the profits increase very quickly! I have reworked the figs over just a short period and the results are very very encouraging so as of today I am going to readjust stakes after each race. I will try and post up results reflecting this at the end of each days racing. Will be interesting. Good luck Steve |

Keep it up :-) Cheers mate - I is pretty simple once you get into it.....and I think using the ratchet to increase stakes really does make a massive impact on profits. I know Maria didnt get off to the best start but she was in profit before the end of her 1st week and as we all know she did very well by the year end. Do u have a cut off price or a maximum lay price as I see that some of your lays are in the 15.0/16.0 price range. Thats too rich for my blood!! My cut off is 11.0 as I dont think I could handle taking a hit of more than 10 points in one go!! Good Luck tho mate Steve |

Hi Nathanrh Glad u had a piece of the action...yes I think maria was aiming for around a 85/86 % strike rate. I know that with mixed stake laying you do need a decent SR. I think the current SR is due to varience as a couple of months ago I had a few weeks of around 84%. My aim is around 88% which I have so far been able to achieve and more! I dont think i`ll be posting any real shorties anytime soon, I think the best value lays lie within the 4/1 to 12/1 price range. Although I have been known to lay the occasional odds on shot!
