Doesn't surprise me that Doncaster have the best EXGD this season in L2, as on match odds throughout the season I reckon they've been the shortest prices. 2.32 to win at 7th place Crewe this weekend.

The change in Walsall's fortunes date from the recall of Nathan Lowe by Stoke. It can't just be that even though he was the league's leading scorer up to that point.
There is a certain randomness that throws up inexplicable results and all teams suffer from it from time to time. The National league is very competitive with only one automatic place plus one from the playoffs. Most promoted teams tend to do well in league 2 and some are soon promoted again. Hartlepool U are one of the few unfortunate exceptions who were soon back into non-league football. |

I like Grimsby at home to Salford this weekend. Salford lost 4 out of 6 with 2 draws and no wins. Grimsby won 5 in 8 1 draw 2 losses.

Foinaivon, I meant I have Doncaster to win League 2 in the treble with Shrewsbury and Plymouth to be relegated (not Bromley to be releagted). The Bromley reverse stopped their momentum in it's tracks and felt pivotal. I should've just done them to be promoted.

Salford's recent away form isn't very good. Good luck The Dragon.
Colchester are the form team but their opponents Fleetwood aren't far behind. |

i also backed doncaster in the ante post market to win this league. this was based on their excellent form to the back end of the previous season.
as a rule i like teams who have done well at the back end of the season before. ive not given up on the win yet. They have a tough run in with both Walsal and Bradford to play at home. If they win those two games they must be in with a decent shout. they defo need to improve though |
By:
OH I see Clydebank. They are still in with a chance of winning the league. Bradford had a set back too at Gillingham and there's still time to catch Walsall if the latter keep dropping points.

What a day! Only Wimbledon of the top 5 win. The highlight for me is Colchester United who extend their unbeaten run to 13 games (9 wins and 4 draws) and move up to 7th place. Next Saturday they travel to Valley Parade which should be an interesting encounter.
At the bottom, Tranmere win a second successive time to open up a 6 point gap from the bottom two and Accrington's draw brings them closer to safety. |
By:
Yes, it's a tough division, The Dragon. I gave it a miss today and watched a bit of the two televised games.

By:
Of the two games, Doncaster didn't impress against Crewe and I thought Cheltenham were the better side at Swindon. However they had a defender sent off and a penalty awarded against them for holding, an offence seen in every game in the prem.these days without sanction. Up until then they were leading 3-1.

By:
Doncaster were poor first half but much improved 2nd half. Seems they were on the wrong end of some very dubious referee decisions too ...

Thanks for the interview link and commentary Clydebank, everything that helps us form a view is welcome. Doncaster did hit the post in one of their second half attacks. I was flipping across two games on SKY+ as mentioned so I didn't see every incident but I reported the general impression I had of both games. That the manager saw it differently from the touchline is fair enough. They were trying desperately to get a winner at the end. I thought the draw was a fair result.

swindon. port vale and walsall to win for me this weekend
7/1 treb |
By:
Chesterfield have recovered from a poor run of form, winning their last three matches. They should be too strong for Harrogate. I would add Wimbledon and Cheltenham as home wins at better prices.
Grimsby are very skinny odds to beat inconsistent Newport, might be worth a speculative lay. |
By:
What a day. Even Wimbledon leading 2-0 after 85 minutes only managed to draw.Disappointment for lowly Morecambe too who held out until the 89th minutes before conceding the only goal of the game to Port Vale. Walsall's once formidable lead at the top now cut to a single point. 5 matches ended 0-0 and 3 more had only a single goal, a good day for unders backers.

By:
yup draws were the order of the day
![]() going to be an intersting run in for sure |

And Walsall still top priced with the bookmakers at 8/11, 2.2 available on here.
By:
Next three will be key. AFC Wimbledon H Donny A Port Vale H. 3 of their 5 challengers for automatic slots. After that a pretty soft set of fixtures
By:
Newport and Accrington prolly the first two teams you'd choose to play and Walsall have both in their running.

run in not running

I'll chance my luck on league 2 tonight, all level stakes.
Gills 0-0 Harrogate 0-0 Morecambe 1-0 I'll take the prices nearer kick off time. Follow my lead at your own risk preferably with someone else's money. Sir Nobbs, if you look in I would be interested to know what your AI friend makes of these. I'll even give you foin's analysis of the other games if you want to make a full comparison. |

gl foin. no bets for me in league 2. all bets for me in in div 1 - posted on my thread and on league 1 thread

decided to have a quick look and noticed that the top 4 are playing each other
Doncaster (2.08) 4th v Walsall (4.20) top and Port Vale (2.76) 3rd v Bradford (3.10) 2nd no idea on potential outcomes but key games for all clubs- prob be draws |
By:
Yes, I think Donny will be too strong for lacklustre Walsall, my guess 2-1
Port Vale have been poaching last minute goals to win recently. Although Bradford are nowhere near as strong away as they are at home I think they will hold Vale to a draw. Good luck with what you do, The Dragon. |
By:
cheers foin im hoping donny can win as i backed them antepost to win the league

By:
Lap of the gods. Of the other promotion contenders, underrated Grimsby play at the Mornflake tonight. They have won a few times at 2-1 and I suspect they will do it again against Crewe. Wimbledon should pip Swindon and Notts Co should beat MK Dons tomorrow.
By:
Big calls there Foinavon. Colchester too!
Not for me tonight though! |
By:
Yes, Col U are playing Gills, my bet 0-0. Do you think they will beat Gillingham?
By:
Good chance.
I think I backed them on a long shot acca. it is a good price but there was so much low hanging fruit tonight at decent odds I held back on Colchester, Grimsby ( both strong form ) Wimbledon and possibly Crawley who are also on a run of form despite league position Might have a nicker Donny, Wimbledon, Grimsby, Colchester pays 29 add Crawley pays 80! Might have a punt! Woah boy Gillingham have appointed Shrewsbury Town head coach Gareth Ainsworth as their new manager to replace John Coleman. Gills confirmed 62-year-old Coleman had left the club, external on Tuesday afternoon and shortly after announced Ainsworth's appointment, external. Former Wycombe Wanderers boss Ainsworth, who has signed a contract until 2027, had been in charge at Shrewsbury since November, taking over a side that was bottom of League One. Having won five and lost 12 of his 22 games in charge, the 51-year-old now moves down a division, along with assistant Richard Dobson, with Shrewsbury still bottom and 14 points from safety with nine matches to play. |
By:
My thinking was that Gills seem to be stronger defensively than in attack. They had drawn the last 3 games and although looking safe from relegation, it's been another disappointing season and another point wouldn't go amiss. Colchester's good run has brought them to the bring of the playoffs but they have lost the last two and will want to steady the ship. Gillingham away is always a tough game to win.
By:
Yeah, we are usually resilient at home. It's a toss up for me hence not backing Colchester as there were strong bets to be had.
By:
There are safer bets than 0-0 where you can be literally wiped out in an instant, unders for example but less rewarding. I will probably be looking to trade at some point if not obliterated early on. At least with mid-week games you can keep an eye on proceedings thanks to Sky+
Good luck with the low hanging fruit although if you are doing multiples you are magnifying the risk perhaps even up to the level of my 3 bets. |
By:
Colchester scored already. You were right Whispering, that's one down for me.
By:
Unlucky there The Dragon, Doncaster lost their 2-1 lead to an injury time equaliser. Wimbledon also lost a winning position to two injury time goals leaving the promotion race still wide open. My three correct score bets went down but I was able to cover the losses when Morecambe opened the scoring in the second half. Their second successive win leaves open the possibility of a late Houdini act as they are now only 4 points from safety with six to play.

I watched the Donny v Walsall match. Walsall well worth their point, and whilst a draw was prolly fair, Walsall edged it overall for me. Donny played all the football, but Walsall looked the more threatening. Very surprised by Walsall's run of results, but on that evidence, given their very favourable set of matches to come, I wouldn't be opposing them myself.
By:
Should Donny fail to get promoted, I wouldn't be backing them next season if Molyneux leaves. Everything good about them started with him. They were a bit flakey at the back too imo. A commanding centre half and possibly a new left back needed.
By:
Thanks for your feedback, I didn't watch that game at all as I was flipping between three others.
I liked the determination shown by the Morecambe players, they certainly haven't given up despite their precarious position. |
By:
Notts County have a chance to narrow the gap to an automatic promotion place to 2 points tonight. MK Dons have some quality players and it's surprising to see them languishing in the bottom half of the table. Although Notts Co's form at Meadow Lane has sometimes been disappointing, I expect they will win tonight. David McGoldrick, recently back from injury, is still a classy player and the team is transformed when he is in the side. Sam Slocombe is a capable stand-in keeper for the injured Alex Bass.
MK Dons do not appear to have any notable absentees. I am going for a 2-1 home victory. |
