Crewe are a really good footballing team IMO. Looked dangerous every time they went forward.
|

By:
aye , not a problem as only a small interest bet. two main losses this season so far have been Lincoln losing to exeter and Cardiff losing to Burton. Both lost at home 0-1.
Rest of the season has been pretty good but still to hit a really big one. |

Les petits ruisseaux font les grandes rivières
Antoine Furetiere. This old French proverb is my byword, (little and often while minimising losses). Little streams make the big rivers, a metaphor that can be applied to many situations. Not as exciting as having a big win unfortunately. |

Gillingham, Grimsby, Walsall and Cambridge look to be the most likely winners this weekend. In view of their recent stumbles, Gills look a silly price so I will leave them off and just back the other three.

im on barnet to beat tranmere - only bet in this league
|
|
By:
Fair enough. Barnet are one of the strongest away sides in L2 on recent form having lost only one of the last 5. Tranmere are a tough side to beat at home having lost only to Notts Co in the last 5 at Prenton Park. Barnet are on the up and may well have the edge. Good luck.

Happy to take 11/8 about Crewe even on a short week. Thought they would be a tad shorter
|
|
By:
Gills are very short against an improving Cheltenham.
They have lost their last two league games albeit narrowly, then lost 2-1 in midweek to Colchester in the lower leagues cup after being a goal up with five minutes left. A few injuries amongst the attacking players as well as Josh Andrews suspended for this game. Sam Vokes could start but he is still not match fit. |
|
By:
Yes, I think Crewe is a good choice at the price, they are playing well at the moment.
|
|
By:
Walsall, Gilligham and Grimsby wins for me today....Can also see BTTS Crewe V Bromley with a Crewe win but will leave it out as heart rules head on this one....Good luck all

What a frustrating game this can be. VWD the Dragon with your winner (Barnet).

thanks foin-- div1 bets failed me though

Gills grab a point with a 95th minute equaliser. But it would have been highway robbery if Cheltenham had won.
The visitors only shot on target put them ahead in the 87th minute ! Meanwhile gills had 30 attempts with 10 on target, if only they had a real goal scorer in their side |
|
By:
We need to rewrite the form book after today.
MK Dons are coming into contention after a poor start. Col Utd have beaten two top teams in their last two outings and unfancied Fleetwood move into the top half of the table. Barnet continue their strong unbeaten run and now occupy seventh place. |
|
By:
not sure there is any form to rely on foin the division is turning into a bit of a no bet senario

True, lay the favourites perhaps? Maybe Barrow will win the late game.

i have a point based form system that basically favours home teams based ion the last 6 games.
it has done well over the years but this season a number of my highest rated teams who were all short oods on have lost ;; cardiff 2/5, lincoln 4/6 and now northampton 6/5. it bascically shows that form is not reliable certainly in leagues 1 and 2. |
|
By:
Lincoln- Exeter was a shocker. I think you are right to rely on recent form I tend to take the last 5 games home or away as appropriate which covers about 2 months or just over. It may be too many as it includes August playing conditions.
|
|
By:
to date i have had:
Winners 5/6, 8/13, 21/20, 5/6, 2/9, 3/4 and 6/5. Losers ,1/2,3/4 and 6/5 Winners : Barnsley h. swindon h, Gillingham h Stevenage h arsenal h, swindon a Ipswich h losers : cardiff h,lincoln h and Northampton h |

A rough mental calculation makes that about 2.5 points level stakes profit before deductions. Not bad at all. Doesn't compare with your recent draw treble on the premiership though.

By:
yes they all tend to be short prices on average.
the interesting thing is that there are very few away wins based on form ratings but plenty of away wins in reality. ive been doing this system for over 15 years now and its amazing how the away ratings have detiorated along with the prices which is a contradiction in terms. i once thought i cd make a reasonable living from the system but not anymore ...form is far too unreliable and the contrast between teams in the lower divisuions has definatley contracted.. i onlty bet small these days |
|
By:
Thanks for those observations, I'm relatively new to football markets so don't have your experience. I spent a year just testing out various trading strategies and the straight win market is often unreliable as we have seen today.
|
|
By:
very true.. i tend not too trade but go for the wins or the lays if they ae a decent price..
i am retired now after a very busy proffesional life so i now have some time to study it more. the crazy thing is the harder the study you the more difficult it is ![]() |

I have been retired for 20 years and am probably one of the oldest here. I was glad to get away from a demanding occupation and to be able to please myself with no money worries. Betfair is just a pastime that keeps my mind active among other things and I find this forum friendly with some eccentric characters and far better than some others I tried. it gets very quiet at times but then I only look in occasionally.

|
By:
much the same here foin i have been retired for 2 years now and the studying of the form and research keeps the old greay matter going. i dont do any really big bets its not about the money its about getting your call right after a bit of effort. i find it very enjoyable.

Ive backed two teams in this division this weekend and they are BRISTOL ROVERS at 20/21 to beat Tranmere and SWINDON at 21/20 to win at Accrington.
Some other notable clashes include Grimsby 5th v Gills 3rd ( Grimsby might edge it).MKD 4th v Crewe 8th. Dons going well with 3 wins on the bounce including wins v Gills and Bristol and on form maybe too strong for crewe - Maybe a draw? Probable home wins include Walsall and COLU. Thoughts welcome. |
|
By:
I would advise caution after last week. On form, Bristol Rovers and Swindon should win. Walsall also are going well. Col U appear to have turned a corner and I think they should be kept onside for now (Note recent comments from Colupaul too). Gills seem to have turned a different corner and I might be opposing them tomorrow. Crewe looked fit, strong and aggressive when I watched them on TV. MY Dons are playing well now, so this game is too difficult to call.
I haven't decided yet if I will have a proper bet in this league tomorrow, might just be minimum stakes for interest. |
|
By:
There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 8 of Notts Co.'s last 10 games (League Two). 1.83 on here
|
|
By:
Bristol Rovers
Walsall and Cheltenham DNB my three darts for tomorrow. |
|
By:
I decided to leave League 2 alone today and had a few short priced bets in Europe.
If anyone is interested I backed USG, Marseille and Lyon+1. I looked at Basel both for the home win and for over 2.5 but decided the starting prices were too short. Will watch how things evolve in running. |
|
By:
A lot of red cards today. 9 man Gillingham and 10 man swindon both struggling, Walsall also behind but now against 10 so should get something. Colu looking good, should have backed them, MK Dons starting to justify early favouritism. Bristol R 4 down, shocker.
|
|
By:
yup your words of caution were indeed wise ones
|

What a crazy division this is so far this year, three of the top 5 losing again. Gills still only 4 points off the top despite only 1 point from the last 12.
Only 7 points between 1st and 12th ![]() Two sent off for the Gills today, first one debatable together with a soft penalty awarded against them. Safe to say the ref is not on their xmas card list. In the circumstances it was a minor miracle to only lose 1 nil. Hopefully Gareth A will be back sooner rather than later to help the team to get back in the winning mode. |

indeed dixie my betting powder in this league is drying up

Another weekend to swerve L2 it would seem. I have some confidence in MKD beating Bromley and Fleetwood beating Accrington. (I see you have picked MKD on your thread The Dragon). I'm pleased to see the return to winning form of Colchester and Notts County but I can't find any enthusiasm for Bristol Rovers even against Crawley or Gillingham against Salford. Harrogate should beat Newport but they are coming of a 3 match losing run and Newport are showing signs of life so I will leave that one alone too.
|
|
By:
i agree foin no bets for me other than MKD but only small
if in wanted to take arisk id back the following aways: Grimsby 17/10,Walsall 19/10 and salford 19/10 - mid week prices |
|
By:
A potential minefield, I will put my money on the likes of Boro and Cov instead

Cheltenham beat Walsall for the first shock of the day and Fleetwood drank some magic water at half time to turn around a one goal deficit and win 2-1.
