Chesterfield my only Saturday bet in this league.
I expect Salford to beat Cheltenham at home on Friday evening. |
By:
Yes, a lot of competitive games this week, I would add Cambridge to your picks of Salford and Chesterfield. Not great prices so L2 might just be another watching brief for me this weekend.

ok thanks foin. interest bet on cambridge then

The usual mixed bag yesterday with some going to form,(Gillingham, Bromley, Cambridge) others not (MKD, Chesterfield, Salford, Grimsby). After a slow start, Bristol Rovers and Notts County start to put results together and Colchester fans must be disappointed by a late concession dropping yet another two points, a frustration shared by fans of Cheltenham.
More intriguing fixtures next week, good luck in sorting out some winning bets. |

Should have mentioned Crewe 0 Swindon 3, wow. The second goal was a keeper error but doesn't detract from the surprise value. I think this CS result was around 60 at the start on the exchange.

Yes Foinavon. You seem to have a grip on this so keep the comments coming
I over played Chesterfield. I still hade the belief at 2-2 with 30 to go but as has happened so often this season the big one has let me down. I had Stevenage, Gillingham and Chesterfield in treble plus I had Grimsby, Salford and MK Dins in others. Close but no cigar. Losing afternoon but scraped a little back with Chesterfield draw at 6 allied to Bolton and draw. Also Gillingham, Bolton and draw, Bradford and draw. Everything else lost! |

It's tough and the reason why I don't do multiples. I had a good day yesterday with Gills+1 and the BTTS suggested by The Spy. I also nicked a bit of money on Napoli by laying the draw at two fat ladies at 1.17. Napoli scored in the 5th minute of added time. Sometimes it works in your favour.

gills top of the table and available at 16/1 on here in the outright market- seems rather large to me

They have been here before but faded before Christmas during the past two seasons. Doesn't mean it will happen again but there's an awful lot of serious competition for the top spot in this league. The long unbeaten run under the current coach does give cause for optimism this time and that price does look big to me from a trading perspective.

By:
unbeaten in 6 with 4 wins and two draws. two wins v crewe and chesterfield which is solid form.
away at bromley next a win there and they will deffo be shorter price is wrong if you compare it to chesterfield and mkdons who are around 4/1 or shorter deffo worth a few quid at that price i reckon partic given they beat chesterfield 4-1 |
By:
they also beat walsall who are a top 6 team with 4 wins in six. deffo having some of that 16/1

League 2 is a very competitive division but it is strange that the Gills are still available at the same odds (or bigger) than they were before a ball was kicked.
MK Dons are hardly pulling up trees and yet are still firm favourites with the layers. ![]() Gills are not exactly prolific up front but they are exceptionally hard to beat. They are currently on a run of 18 unbeaten in the league stretching back to early March. The club record is currently 20 games without defeat set in 1973/74 when Gills got promoted from the old Division Four. WD will remember this season well ![]() Sam Vokes scored his first goal for the club to get the 3 points yesterday, a very good signing by Gareth Ainsworth. Sam will be 36 in a few weeks time but his experience could prove invaluable, i don't think the Gills have had a player on their books who has scored at a major tournament before ! Next week is a big game between the only two unbeaten sides in the division - Bromley have excelled since getting in to the league and beat the Gills home and away last year. I believe the game is being televised, should be informative. |

Salford have signed Daniel Udoh from Wycombe. I think that signing a proven striker is a good move and exactly what's needed.

a fancy a few aways in this league today, bristol rovers and swindon look to have strong chances whereas accrington, crewe and grimsby all with a shout.
dont get why crawley are favs at harrogate ![]() |

Good morning the Dragon, hope it's not too hot to sleep over there.
Another day in Camelot for the alternatively sane. On all known form Bristol Rovers, Barnet, Swindon and Cambridge should all win but we know that it's unlikely that they all will. I'm going for just two of them today, Rovers and Cambridge. I shall watch the rest with interest, particularly Gills, Colchester and MK Dons who have tough encounters today. Good luck if you have a bet on League 2 games. |
By:
Rovers hold on by the skin of their teeth, it would have been criminal to lose a 3 goal lead late in the game.Just Cambridge to go for me now.
By:
grimsby 2 up so thats a nice one
By:
3 up now wow!!!!
By:
crewe winning also
accrington losing just need chesterfield for a nice payout cmonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn |

Excellent comeback from the Gills today after getting caught cold early on by a decent Bromley side.
A somewhat dubious penalty award in injury time kept the Gills unbeaten run going, 19 games now. An improving Notts County side visit Priestfield next week, so won't be easy to keep the run going and equal the all time club record. |
By:
Notts County kept their first clean sheet today. Matthew Dennis scored his 6th goal in 7 games and is the league's leading scorer so yes, they are improving and it will be an interesting encounter.
Bromley looked formidable in attack for the first half hour and Gills were a tad lucky with the pen as you said. In other results, Swindon look to be much improved and Walsall are back in contention. At the lower end of the table Shrewsbury and Cheltenham are finding their feet after very poor starts. |
By:
Had a tickle on the draw then they went 2-0 down! Heard we got one back and 5 live said Good win for Bromley!
What a pleasant surprise particularly after Orient’s 95th minute winner! Your Cambridge let us down Foinavon but you did foreshadow it! Mixed but winning day! |
By:
They did Whispering and I gave back the Bristol Rovers winnings on the day. The form swing doesn't make sense but it's all we have to go on unless you like pin sticking. For me it was off the back of 3 consecutive winners (two previous ones posted on the Dragon thread) so I can't complain.
By:
It is crazy atm Foinavon.
Proceed with caution! |
By:
That's true. These days I play for fun, not for blood, it occupies my mind rather like a game of chess used to do. I am in no danger of losing my bank as the percentages are too small.
By:
Nearly had a speculative double on Germany at 1.72 and Slovakia at 3.5 then they both took the lead. and that’s the way it goes!
By:
That's the way it goes. I had a couple of in-running bets last night which I couldn't really post on here, Holland to win when they were 2-2 and also Belgium -2 before they scored. They seem to reserve their goal sprees to the second half which has been useful twice already. Are you brave enough to back Scotland at 1.5? I'm certainly not. Switzerland look short priced and might be a lay as Slovenia are no pushover considering their draw with Sweden. I might also back Sweden +1 against Kosovo. It's 2.92 at the moment.
By:
Sweden -1 sorry.
By:
Hmm, that went well -not. Kosovo beating Sweden 2-0, stranger things have happened at sea.
By:
I stayed out if it!
You’d think a World Cup match would be important enough to win for Sweden! |
By:
You did well. Tonight, their neighbours, Norway, should score 3 or 4 against poor opposition so you would think Norway-2 would be safe enough on all known form. We will see.
By:
Norway 5 up by halftime. Some bloke called Haaland scored 3 of them. Clawed back a bit of yesterday's loss.
By:
Ukraine and Ireland, Ukraine -1 and Ireland
Luckily enough small stakes. Had to go out for dinner with Mrs ‘Death. Felt bad so had bigger bet on Portugal and England. Portugal winner on 86. Mad but ahead for the day |

Walsall and Swindon are my two selections from this League for the weekend - full details are on my thread.
I am hoping that Chesterfield can beat MKD but their recent form has dipped since a decent start. (both teams 1 in 4 wins) |
By:
Apols missed Swindon to beat Harrogate at 8/13

A bit of synergy might help this week.
Lots of healthily priced options. I will use Sportsbook knowing 365 offers higher. Swinedon 1.57 ( I an not bitter nor hold any grudges Dixie )Bristol Rovers 1.8 home, liking them, good form. Walsall 2.4 away but in good form. Gillingham 2.3 v Notts. What do we know about Notts? Salford 2.25 away but against Shrewsbury. Foinavon have they got it together now? Grimsby 2.1 home and going well, a little inconsistent. Cambridge getting it together but let us down last week, stay clear of both? I like all 6. Not sure how to play it. 3 homes for sure Swinedom, Rovers, Grimsby 5.94. Gillingham instead of Grimsby 6.51 Swinedom, Rovers, Walsall 6.79 is my top treble maybe swap Walsall with Salford. |
By:
Have Salford got it together? One swallow doesn't make a summer but I think so. New boy Daniel Udoh provided 2 assists in the 3-1 win over Tranmere, they just need to keep taking some of the chances they create in abundance.
Swindon seems to be everyone's banker and it does seem justified, let's hope they don't go the way of some other hot picks. Notts sold their Goalie in the summer which has weakened their defence although they managed a clean sheet last week for the first time this season. They lost McGoldrick and replaced him with Matthew Dennis who has been successful so far. Last season's top scorer Jatta missed the first 6 games but was back in the side last weekend although he didn't score. The Gillingham game could go either way and I suspect it will end in a draw with 1-1 being favourite. No bet on that one for me. |
By:
I think you might be right about the draw so I am avoiding but confidence is growing
By:
When it comes to football I'm guessing like everyone else. I do take care with my selections and try to look at every angle before placing a bet but there are no guarantees in this game. I like Swindon although the price was never going to be great and Dragon's pick of Walsall is probably sound although you might want to cover the draw too. I haven't yet decided on my bets.

Oh it’s been terrible at times! Good at others though!
