not really - they have a 900m deal with Adidas and numerous other big money sponsorship deals that would have been at risk if they simply had a preferred conclusion that had no grounds of credibiliy.....they did an internal review to establish all manner of things I'd imagine...

Can't believe some people are still jumping to conclusions here when there is obviously new material and especially after that statement from Arnold today that confirms that and says they are satisfied he didn't do what was alleged, he is back with her & they've had a kid.

Have you considered that she may not be telling the truth? She posted pics with bruises and blood and Arnold is saying the club is satisfied after seeing more evidence than we did that he didn't do that to her, effectively. They would not say something like that if they weren't almost certain that that is the case. It could well be a case of a crazy woman or woman scorned, that certainly seems more likely to me at this point. She could have doctored the audio for all we know.

Can't believe Greenwood got back with her and had a kid etc. He and the club say he didn't do what was alleged and, if so, she has completely ruined his England career and reputation, at least badly damaged his club career and they will all likely have to emigrate now.

No he [Arnold] said he [greenwood] hadn't done what he had been accused of.

That'll be the more serious allegation.

Oh Lurka

Not only do we have the best Police  Force in the World we also have the most sensitive and kind football clubs who do not lieLaugh

I am not accusing him of beating her up and I do not know how that tape was made and in what context.

My gut feeling is that he is protecting her from false accusations!

What we do not have is the truth! Despite having the best Police Force in the World and the best tree hugging, nut cutlet eating touchy  feels  football club in the World.

For my part I think the young man who was a boy should be allowed to play football for whoever wants him

We do have a truth and that is that the law of this country isn't worth the paper it is written on in the face of an on-line onslaught of hate from z list celebrities.  And another truth, that the so-called biggest club in the world is reduced to a knee-trembling, cowardly weakling in the face of it.
And we are all sitting back and allowing it to happen before our very eyes.

so both parties now agree it didnt happen but it took them a yr to show/prove to police it didnt happen, when it could have been sorted in 24 hrs before no doubt people were paid handsomely to keep quiet or change their story, how does man utd/this couple suddenly find evidence after police have passed on their findings to cps, their the 2 involved took them nearly a yr to concoct a way out of a mess
if footage wasnt real greenwood woiuld have said so within 2 mions of police interview yet she must have stuck to her story for nearly a yr till file was passed to cps

Let's be honest, the whole thing is flipping weird.

If he's not done what has been alleged, then WTF is he still with her?!?  She (if it's not true) has almost cost him his career.  If it's not true, then surely there should be some sort of legal recourse for United to take against her for devaluing their asset?

I had to Google what she was famous for, other than her allegations against him.  Apparently she's an internet personality....  Did this just start off as some ridiculously misguided ruse to get her name out there, where they planned to go "just joking!"?  And then all of a sudden it exploded, the police wanted in on it, and all of a sudden it became too big to put a lid on?

Hasn't Partey been on bail for over a year while a rape allegation is investigated in France?

But I suppose there is a difference when you play for the biggest club in the world.

Was on hols last week, so only dipped in. Fuller thoughts here.

It's not a straight-forward situation this, and the real problem is how Utd/Arnold have handled it imo.

Firstly, Greenwood hasn't been found guilty of anything. Yet at the same time, we've all seen and heard what he'd done. The chance of that audio and video being fake are very very slim indeed. But still, he wasn't found guilty.

Really he should be allowed to pick up his career. But on the flip side, you can understand why clubs, their fans and their sponsors would have serious qualms about being associated with him.

The courts of the land and the courts of public opinion are two different things and both are important. Especially when you have such a public job.

And what's important is how you get Greenwood's career moving again. They could easily have got a four-page sympathetic interview in The Sun surely. The united couple, with their charming little babba eager to put it all behind them and just move on. How he's done counselling since and actually now works on helping other young people with anger issues. etc etc. And then loan him out for a year. Take him out the spotlight completely. Maybe abroad. Where all the British public sees are snips of him scoring. Let him prove his worth on the pitch and have people telling Southgate he should be getting called up. Then, you can say he's served his penance, he's more mature and learned his lesson and it's not Utd's place to judge him further and so he's brought back.

I really don't think that's such a difficult strategy at all.

But Utd just stayed quiet. Greenwood kept quiet until that mealy-mouthed statement yesterday. There just seemed to be no contrition, no understanding of why people might be genuinely upset at all. And instead a sly campaign to wait till the last minute and sneak him in. Just absolutely, toe-curlingly mis-managed. They've ended up looking like they don't care about women's welfare and have lost their starlet anyway. Well done.

He could not have "done" the terrible acts, but the audio can be still true (that was words. Disgusting words, but that's it). Also who made UTD the courts? You really trust these people?

Moreover, 1) why would Mason go back to someone who accused him of that/lied? 2) Mason himself has said he has done wrong. Ask yourself, if you girlfriend accused you of rape and tried to ruin your affair, would you apologize and take her back? Use logic here.

The only way that will change is if "they" come out and explain what did go on.

It was her decision to make this whole thing public.

He could have got back with her as a career move. You could ask the same question of her. Why would she get back with and have a kid with a guy who allegedly tried to rape her and beat her black and blue after they had broken up and she had gone public? There is no 'coercive control' then, an allegation that was dropped in any event.

Remember, she did not go to the police as a priority. She went public to damage him as a priority and the police actually came to her later that day. She later withdrew her allegations, yet she is still considered a victim when it's as likely that none of it happened as appears. Normally very few details and zero evidence is made public but this was all in the public domain before the police even knew about it. Her father also acted as if he didn't believe the allegations were true and tried to protect her by saying her phone was hacked. If her phone was hacked she didn't make the allegations at all.

If it had gone to court the judge wouldn't even allow the jury to decide, he would direct them to find him not guilty but because there wasn't even an allegation maintained to get that far yet he's more guilty than if he was found not guilty? Not in the case where she withdrew all her allegations and got back with him and had a kid with him imo. And where there is other evidence and material which alters the context of the original evidence, which both the CPS and Arnold have confirmed.

Arnold would not be making a statement that they are satisfied he didn't do what was alleged unless they were relatively certain of that. Why do you think that is?
By:
Latalomne

Based on Greenwood's own admissions of fault and the lack of really fleshing out what did go on, are we not just left to assume that something bad DID happen but that it stopped short of rape?

There are plenty of people still in relationships where they have been abused.
By:

When: 22 Aug 23 10:52
lurka,
Arnold simply covering himself for trying to protect their asset & reintegrate Greenwood.
It was only when fans started to kick up  a fuss, he decided it wasn't worth the aggravation.

Why hasn't any of this occurred in your opinion?
If you're an innocent man, wouldn't you at least try to save your reputation? Confused

That tape could have been part of their thang. She might have liked him talking like that and set him up for " Insurance ". Not saying it didn't happen like that either but that is their business.

I seem to remember one Stanley Johnson accused of punching his wife so heard in the face he broke her nose. What does the former Prime Minister and his own son do......try and make him a Peer of the Realm!

Double standards for footballers! Let the kid play. United should  have shown a pair although we do not know how his teams mates would react. They know him best and maybe he is a wrong'un. Every man woman and their dog have their views and are acting like judge jury and executioner in a what should be a private matter but the girl put it in the public domain and has got what she wanted! Well done the girl. A fine example to other young girls.....really sad!

They might have engaged in rough or abusive sex because they both liked it. She might like young Mason to swear during sex. No one knows!
