Wellbeck's been released...!

What a shambles we are. Every club in the world will know we're desperate and the price will go up 100%.

West Ham hope to sign Eintracht Frankfurt’s Sébastien Haller after losing out to Valencia in the race to land Maxi Gómez from Celta Vigo.

Manuel Pellegrini desperately needs a striker after allowing Marko Arnautovic to join Shanghai SIPG for £22.4m this week and was hopeful of landing Gómez, only for the Uruguayan to choose Valencia.

West Ham released Andy Carroll and sold Lucas Pérez to Alavés before deciding to cut their losses on Arnautovic, leaving them with Javier Hernández and Jordan Hugill as their only senior forwards. That has placed them under pressure to bring in reinforcements and they were prepared to break their transfer record to sign Gómez for €50m (£44.5m).

Gómez’s snub came as a major disappointment to Pellegrini, who had targeted the 22-year-old since January, but West Ham have looked to move on quickly and have since stepped up their interest in Haller.

They have held talks with Frankfurt over a potential £40m deal for the highly rated 25-year-old, who has been identified by Manchester United as a potential replacement for Romelu Lukaku if the Belgian striker moves to Internazionale. Haller’s representatives are waiting to see whether West Ham can agree a fee with the Bundesliga side.

It also remains to be seen whether West Ham can convince Haller to move to the London Stadium. There is a feeling that the former France Under-21 international, who has scored 33 goals in 77 appearances since joining Frankfurt from Utrecht two years ago, could want to see whether he receives offers from clubs who have qualified for next season’s Champions League.

I heard it was Man Utd sniffing around . Not a bad thing really though . I'd be more worried if we signed a player that no one else was interested in .
That said no one else was interested in Payet , Anderson , Lanzini or Diop and they were pretty useful in their first season at West ham .

West Ham have reached agreement with Eintracht Frankfurt over the signing of Sébastien Haller, with the striker now set for a medical as he nears he move to the Premier League.

Manuel Pellegrini is desperate for a new striker after allowing Marko Arnautovic to join Shanghai SIPG for £22.4m and losing out to Valencia in the race to sign Maxi Gómez. West Ham have moved on quickly and now look close to signing the former France Under-21 striker for a fee that it is believed could reach up to a club record €50m, although there is understood to be some late interest from elsewhere.

“Eintracht and West Ham have agreed on the details of the transfer of @HallerSeb,” read a tweet from the German club on Tuesday morning. “As a result, Haller has approval to complete the medical examination in London. Should this take a positive course, Haller will join the Hammers.”

Haller is understood to be on his way to London for a medical. The 25-year-old has scored 33 goals in 77 appearances since joining from Utrecht two years ago.

Ok , so we've finally confirmed the signing of Sebastien Haller from E.Frankfurt for £45m . Apparently the delay was due to West Ham's refusal to allow an escape clause in the contract which would have allowed him to leave after just one season should a 'Champions League club' came in for him . Fair play to the board for resisting this . COYI .
By:
sparrow
When: 17 Jul 19 14:52
The board clearly convinced the player he would not need to leave as he would be playing Champions League football at West Ham following a successful season.

West Ham have announced the signing of Sébastien Haller from Eintracht Frankfurt for a club-record fee that it is understood could rise to €50m (£45m).

The 25-year-old striker, who scored 20 goals in 41 appearances last season and is a former France Under-21 international who came through the ranks at Auxerre, has signed an initial five-year deal. His fee eclipses the £33.5m West Ham paid for Felipe Anderson last year.

“West Ham are delighted to announce the arrival of prolific French striker Sébastien Haller, the club’s new record signing,” a statement said. “The highly sought-after forward, who turned 25 in June, joins the Hammers on a five-year deal with an option of a further 12 months for an undisclosed fee from Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt.

“The deal for Haller means the Hammers have broken their transfer record for a third time in a little over a year following the captures of Issa Diop and Felipe Anderson.”

Haller joins the Spain midfielder Pablo Fornals and the goalkeeping duo Roberto and David Martin in signing for West Ham this summer. He will not link up with his new teammates until they return from China, where they are competing in the Premier League Asia Trophy.

Haller's stats read better than those of Luca Jovic who he played alongside at Frankfurt , and Real Madrid have spent more on getting Jovic in Excited
