Now looking to add an African striker . Bid offered but no details other than that . Very much under the radar

Obiang to Sassuolo £9m . Good luck , Pedro

|

So , just to sum up business so far : Players out equates to approx £500k per week in wages , players in £150k+ per week in wages . Sounds like decent business to me

£9m for Obiang??!! Incredible business. He's a stroller.
|
|
By:
Obiang did a decent job for us and 9 million is not an excessive price for a player who was consistently underrated in my view.

I'm buzzing. The gaffer is building a young, progressive team. He's not playing safe and still retains the hunger.
He getting rid of the deadwood (sorry can't think of a politer word). Also we had too many 30 somethings. He's got rid of the dodgy ones and kept most of the solid ones. The dressing room will be a much healthier place I hope. All this while slashing the wage bill. Just need some defensive additions and we're ready to go I think. COYI ps. WD to the board for backing him |

Having provisionally given Hernandez the No.9 shirt this has now unsurprisingly been given to Haller with Hernandez given the No.14

Loving all this optimism boys... Still get evens to finish in the top 10!! All aboard!!

There's optimism and there's delusion . Much happier to fall into the former camp

By:
Who's this 50m Haller dude?
|
|
By:
What about Nasri, Yarmalenko and Wheelchair? Will they play a part this season? What's Reyard's prediction this season ? 3rd again?
|
|
By:
Yeah , I reckon 3rd but will settle for top 8
![]() |
|
By:
Someone's had a rethink : Hernandez N0.9 , Haller No.22

There's optimism and there's delusion
Yeah , I reckon 3rd ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I know it’s only a friendly, it’s early days, and it’s obviously being played in very warm conditions, added to the fact that I’m always pessimistic when it comes to WHU, but we still look toothless up front and insecure at the back.
Hope I’m wrong but, as the thread title states, I fear it could well be “same **** different season” |
|
By:
Have no fear , we've bought a new tooth for £45m and he aint even started warming up yet
![]() |
|
By:
A new "tooth"?
|
|
By:
No longer toothless up front . We may see better from Hernandez playing off Heller
![]() |
|
By:
I've always liked Hernandez as a natural goalscorer playing alongside someone decent.

It looks like we're trying to beat Wolves to the signing of AC Milan striker Patrick Cutone

West Ham are expected to complete their fifth signing of the summer as 18-year-old Boavista defender Goncalo Cardoso is set to fly to London later today to finalise terms.
The Portuguese international looks set to join on a £2.7m (€3m) deal, according to Record. The Portuguese defender is due to jet into London later today (Monday August 5) to finalise the transfer. |

15 1st team appearances for his club . Could be a sound investment . Good to see us signing young players with potential . COYI

By:
It's an extra striker we need to sign though.
|
|
By:
Maybe get a striker in on loan , no need to spend every penny of our transfer budget pre-season .
|
|
By:
We have a history at West Ham of long term injuries . If we hold back from overspending now we'll have something to play with in January should we pick up one or two injuries to key players . Our squad is as strong now , with reasonable cover , than it has been for a number of years so less reason to panic .
COYI |
|
By:
I'm not sure about reasonable cover reynard, but time will tell.
|
|
By:
Hernandez + Antonio + 1 loan striker (attack) , Noble + Yarmolenko + Snoddy + Sanchez (midfield) , Reid + Cresswell + Zaba + Oggy (defence) . Not too confident of Roberto in goal and concerned that Fabianski hasn't featured in any pre-season games but don't think we've had more reason for optimism going into any recent campaigns .

Liverpool have signed former West Ham keeper Adrian to replace Simon Mignolet, who has joined Club Bruges.
Adrian, 32, was available on a free transfer having been released by the Hammers during the summer. He played 150 times in six years for West Ham after joining them from Real Betis in 2013. The Spaniard will fill the gap as Liverpool's back-up to first-choice Alisson Becker after Belgium keeper Mignolet's £6.4m transfer to Bruges. "I'm very ambitious, I come here to try to win everything, to try to push Ali from the first minute and to make us better," said Adrian. "Obviously I want to win titles. I come here to fight for all the competitions. "We have many competitions ahead - we're going to fight for it and try to get them." ![]() |

West Ham have signed striker Albian Ajeti from Swiss side Basel for £8m.
Ajeti, 22, scored 15 goals in 35 games last season and was part of the Switzerland squad that competed in the Nations League tournament in June. "I didn't have to think twice about signing for such a big, traditional club in the Premier League," he said after agreeing a four-year deal. West Ham have already spent a club record £45m on former France Under-21 forward Sebastien Haller this summer. Ajeti is the Hammers' sixth signing, following the arrivals of Haller, midfielder Pablo Fornals, defender Goncalo Cardosa and goalkeepers Roberto and David Martin. It is anticipated Mexican striker Javier Hernandez will remain at London Stadium, while Andy Carroll has left. |

Some good business done in the summer but no upgrades in defence. No muscle added to our mf or added protection for our defence. Our cm still looks lightweight, slow and pedestrian. Great when we go to places like Watford, Burnley we will still get bullied.
Apparently there was no budget for further signings. Yet since moving to the bowl our net spend has been less than Brighton, Leicester, etc. |

I remember last season man city beat us at the LS. I swear not one of them cracked a smile in 'celebrating' their goals. I hope we stuff the arrogant pricks. COYI

Good first 10 minutes, go a goal behind, and then the floodgates open. Has this ever happened before?
We know that Man City are one of the best club sides there’s been in years, but we just seem to capitulate against them every time we go behind. Defence looks as leaky as ever and I wish I was optimistic as some, but I can’t help but think that we lack a bit of mental steel. Hope I’m wrong, but can’t help but think that when they show the league table on the telly we’ll be on page 2 for most, if not all of the season.. |

Agree with your assessment Aladdin, we caved in far too easily. I came on the forum after the game looking for the match thread and there was absolutely nothing.
. For me VAR is killing the game as a spectacle and as one forumite said "goalkeepers have no chance with penalties" |
|
By:
Pellegrini didn’t think that the score reflected the difference between the two teams. I agree, City should’ve won by more!!

I didn't know he said that, but I'm not his biggest fan.
